Review, please? :*

Waiting for Thursday to come around was absolute torture. For one thing, Kurt couldnt stop thinking about Blaine. His eyes, his hair, his face. But what confused Kurt the most about the man was how connected he felt with him. How every time they made eye contact, Kurt had to refuse the urge to drop down to his knees. Nothing seemed to make sense, but at the same time he knew it was right.

Steph had texted Kurt on Tuesday night saying that Blaine had called her to tell her she had gotten a callback. Kurt was ecstatic and convinced Steph to go out with him on Friday night for drinks. Still, time was going by slowly for Kurt and he just wished Thursday would just happen already.

On Wednesday morning Rachel and Santana came back at the same time. Kurt just woke up and was making coffee in the kitchen.

“You look like crap, Santana,” Kurt said, side glancing her from where he was pouring steaming coffee in a mug.

“And you look like you just got laid,” Santana said, studying Kurt's face. Kurt blushed and shook his head.

“Wrong, Santana. I've been in all week except to go to my audition which I got a callback for on the spot,” Rachel squealed yet again and ran up to Kurt, hugging him from behind. Santana just rolled her eyes and dropped down on the couch, grabbing a magazine from the coffee table.

“I knew you'd get it, Kurt! This is going to be amazing. Two best friends, making their mark on Broadway,” Rachel moved her hand across the air, pretending to imagine the two of them on stage.

“I didn't get it yet, Rachel. Callbacks are on Thursday and the cast list is put up online Friday morning,” Kurt said turning around and handing her a cup of coffee. She smiled in gratitude and took a sip, sitting down at the table.

“I know, I know. But you're going to make a perfect Parker. They can't say no to you.”

“Oh come on, Lady Face. I'd be happy about getting a callback on the spot, too. But I know damn well no one can be that happy about getting only a callback. Spill it. What's got you glowing?” Kurt should've known Santana can see right through him. He sighed and poured himself a cup of coffee before sitting down at the table.

“The director,” Kurt said simply, looking down at his cup.

“Oh, that Blaine guy? I heard he was really good at what he does,” Rachel intervened, sipping her coffee.

“Yeah, yeah. He's..” gorgeous in every possible way. Every time he looks at me I want to drop to my knees and suck his cock until he's spilling down my throat. “Really nice.”

Santana scoffed and rolled her eyes, turning the page of the magazine unamused. Kurt cleared his throat.

“I mean, I expected him to be harsh and whatnot, but he's actually really, really kind,” Kurt looked up from his coffee. Rachel was giving him a knowing look and Santana was just smirking behind the magazine.

“What?” Kurt asked exasperatedly.

“Nothing, nothing. I'm really happy you're comfortable there, Kurt,” Rachel pat Kurt's arm and got up, setting her mug in the sink.

“Me, too. You know. I really hope everything works out for you there,” Santana agreed.

“Thanks, guys. It means a lot,” Kurt smiled. Knowing that his friends have his back throughout this process really made him happy even if Santana just cared about hooking Kurt up with miscellaneous men. He just hoped he got the part, so he could really make them proud.

Kurt woke up on Thursday feeling refreshed. His heart and mind were in the right place and he honestly couldn't wait to get to the theatre. Kurt showered and dressed quickly wanting to get there as early as possible. He threw yoga pants and a light blue cotton tee on, lacing up his shoes at the table. He chugged steaming coffee and grabbed a banana, shoving it in his face quickly. He couldn't contain his excitement. He decided to leave his satchel at the apartment, only bringing his phone which he stuck in the waistband of his pants.

When he stepped outside, he considered flagging down a taxi but thought it better to jog off his bubbling nerves. He quickly calculated the fastest route to the theatre in his head and began running. Last time he checked the clock, he had 45 minutes to get there. He ran a little faster, dodging the passing people on the sidewalk.

Something about that morning made him feel like he was floating on Cloud 9. He practically skipped to the theatre, getting there earlier than anyone else. He walked up to the entrance and pulled open the door, making his way to the auditorium. When we walked into the theatre, he saw Blaine sitting on the edge of the stage reading over something in his hand. Probably the game plan for that day.

He approached closer, but Blaine seemed to not have noticed his presence until he cleared his throat lightly. Blaine snapped his head up in startlement.

“Oh, I'm sorry I scared you. You just looked really focused, I didn't want to interr-”

“It's fine, Kurt.” Blaine smiled.

Oh my God, he knows my name.

Don't freak out.

He. Knows. My. Name.

It's no big deal. He probably memorizes everyone's name.

Shut up. He knows my name.

“What are you doing here so early?” Blaine jumped off the stage, walking up to Kurt and stopping only a foot away. Kurt snapped out of his thoughts and gazed into his eyes. There it was again. His knees trembled slightly, but he resisted the urge to fall.

“I- I was just so excited to get here. I decided to run which is why I'm all swea-” his words died in his throat when Blaine's finger came up to Kurt's neck and picked up a bead of sweat, following the trail until his finger was pressed against the skin behind his ear. A tremor ran down his spine, but he couldn't break eye contact with him. Blaine removed his hand, eyes burning behind fiery gold.

“I-” Kurt wanted to say something, but what? The bubble they created around themselves popped when the auditorium door opened, three rambunctious girls giggling wildly as they walked in. Kurt jumped violently, turning on his heel and sitting down in one of the chairs in the fourth row. He chanced a glance at Blaine, and he was still standing there, eyes glued to the spot Kurt was just standing. His eyebrows were furrowed over dark eyes, cheeks flushed slightly. Kurt looked away before anyone caught him staring and pulled out his phone, opening up a game to distract him.

He lost every round.

As the theatre started to fill, Kurt watched the door for Steph. He was well aware of Blaine's eyes glancing over at him every few minutes and he couldn't place whether it was because he intrigued him or repelled him. He couldn't tell if Blaine's eyes were narrowed in interest of disgust. Either way, his attention raised goosebumps on Kurt's arms. He was pretty sure he messed up his hair from all the times he's run his hand through it, but he honestly couldn't care less because Blaine touched him. And it almost felt intimate. Kurt wasn't even sure if Blaine was gay or straight. If his gaydar proved to be correct, Blaine was a gold star gay, but he was just so closed off, and Kurt couldn't tell.

He jumped about half a mile into the air when he felt two warm hands cover his eyes from behind, pulled from his thoughts.

“Guess who?” he heard Steph say. Kurt smiled and pulled her hands away from his face, bending his head back to look at her. She wasn't wearing any makeup this time and she looked absolutely gorgeous. Her hair was pulled back into a neat ponytail and aviators were perched on top of her head.

“You look great,” Kurt said, watching Steph walk around the seats to sit next to him.

“Thanks. I decided to ditch the makeup. Blaine and the rest of the team deserve to see my real face, not my face with a bunch of product on it,” Steph explained, opening up a bottle of water and taking a sip. She offered the bottle to Kurt and he accepted gratefully, taking a few gulps.

“Thanks,” Kurt said, his throat feeling a lot less dry.

“Any time,” Steph smiled and put her bottle away.

They sat in comfortable silence until he heard Blaine clear his throat loudly from on the stage. Mike, Sam, Puck, and Mercedes were standing beside him, patiently waiting for the theatre to quiet down. Once there was complete silence Blaine started.

“Ten of you are here for Janet, eight of you are here for Parker, and two of you are here for Logan,” Blaine said, hands on his hips. The people in the theatre said nothing, waiting for Blaine to continue.

“The first thing we will do is pair you up and assign you to different cold reads. Each pair will have five minutes to read over the script and practice. Then each pair will come up and perform the scene. There aren't any stage directions on these scripts because I want you guys to make it your own. Now be aware that these are snippets from the musical, so take this seriously,” Blaine walked to the small table that was on the side of the stage.

“I'm gonna read off the pairs I have here. After I'm done reading them, come up and grab your scripts,” Blaine began reading off names. Kurt crossed his fingers, hoping he got to be with Steph. “Kurt and Stephanie. You guys will be reading for Parker and Janet.”

Kurt and Steph made eye contact, smiling. They could do this. He finished reading off the pairs and started handing out the scripts. Once Kurt and Steph got their script, they retreated to a more secluded area of the theatre to practice. As they were reading over the script, Kurt couldn't help but think how natural it felt with her. Their chemistry was undeniable and when they performed their scene perfectly on the first try, Kurt couldn't resist the urge to pull her into a hug.

“I think we have this in the bag,” Steph said. Kurt pulled back.

“You bet your ass we have this in the bag,” Kurt said sassily. Steph's smile widened.

“Badass.”

They looked over the script a few more times before Blaine called them all back to the front.

“Do we have any volunteers?” Blaine asked when they were all seated. When no one raised their hands he chuckled lightly. “Okay. First up, we have Nick and Ryan reading for Parker and Logan. I need chemistry guys. Don't make this dry.”

The two of them made their way on stage. They started talking and Kurt immediately recognized this scene as the scene where they first meet.

Both of them were amazing, but Kurt had to admit that it lacked passion. Kurt couldn't feel the air charged with energy. Ryan was included in a few other cold reads because he was only one of the two possible Logans. Kurt saw the other possible Logan, John, perform with Anna, a possible Janet, and even he didn't have the swagger that was necessary for Logan.

Kurt's heart sped up when he realized that Blaine might actually have to play Logan.

“Kurt and Stephanie. You're up,” he heard Blaine say. Kurt looked over at Steph and they stood up together, walking to the stage.

They stood still on the stage for a few moments, falling into character easily. Steph started.

“Come on, Parker. Can't you be a little less obvious?” Steph said, exasperated with the situation. Kurt stood strongly, looking over Steph's face.

“You know I'm doing the best I can, Jan. Why are you being so difficult?” Kurt exclaimed tiredly.

“Because I don't want to be caught frolicking around with a fag!” Steph said. Kurt flinched back. He knew it was a scene, but his real self had flinched with Parker at those words.

“How- how could you say something like that? I thought-”

“Yeah, well you thought wrong. Unless you learn to tune down your flamboyancy, consider this friendship over. Goodbye, Parker,” Steph began walking off stage, Kurt calling after Janet desperately. The scene ended with Kurt's head in his hands, hunched over in sorrow.

Kurt broke out of character when he heard applause from the audience. He smiled and waited for Steph to come out so he could walk off with her.

“Good job, guys. Really well done.” Blaine said from where he was seated.

Yeah. They had this in the bag.
