"Bye, dude!" Finn patted Blaine's shoulder. The shorter boy nodded a silent goodbye and gave a tired smile as the door shut. He began to clear up all of the dishes, smiling at the "Welcome Home" banner. Kurt was taking the trash to place by the door when he caught Blaine grinning.
"Are you okay?" Kurt sat the trash down and kneeled next to Blaine.
"I just think you're adorable," He brushed his nose to his boyfriend's and patted his lap. Kurt climbed in and Blaine pulled the brake back on his wheelchair and slowly wheeled to Kurt's bedroom.
"Wait, Blaine. Can we talk first?" Kurt placed his hand on Blaine's to stop him from spinning the wheels. Blaine's eyes became, once again, the pools of sparkling chocolate that Kurt just wanted to melt into. "I haven't really... I mean... I... uh..." Kurt cleared his throat. This was harder than he had thought it was going to be. He gently placed a hand to Blaine's chest and looked down for a long period.
"Kurt, you can tell me anything," Blaine gently lifted Kurt's chin with his free hand. They made eye contact and Kurt was more nervous than ever.
"Thank you, Blaine," Kurt basically collapsed into his boyfriend's arms and buried his head in his shoulder. Loud sobs were coming from deep inside Kurt's throat and he couldn't stop. This definitely wasn't sexy and he knew it.
"Oh, Kurt, baby, stop, please," Rubbing his boyfriend's back, Blaine wheeled them to Kurt's room instead of his own. "I promised you that I'd do anything for you. I love you, Kurt. We're going to be okay. I don't mind that I'm like this. Sure, it might get me down, but they said I might be able to walk some day!" The only answer he received were sobs, so he decided to continue. "Maybe tonight we should just spend the night together, holding each other. I'm tired and I'm sure you are too. There will be plenty of time for the fun stuff in the morning," he raised an eyebrow when Kurt looked up and chuckled, "But for now, let's go to bed. Okay, Kurt?"
"Of course, Blaine," Kurt sniffled and rubbed his nose with a slight smile. When Blaine arrived at his bed, he climbed out and changed into his pajama pants. Blaine had taken his shirt off, leaving only his undershirt, and had removed his watch and, with trouble. He was now gloomily looking down at his useless legs. "Do you want help, honey?" His boyfriend's nod was nearly undetectable, but he went over and unzipped Blaine's pants.
"Can you hold your legs out for me?" Kurt didn't realize what he was asking and froze up when his brain told him what he'd done. "Oh my god, Blaine, I am so sorry, you probably want to get up and walk away- OH GOSH I SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT EITHER! Wait, no, Blaine!" Blaine had already begun to wheel away. Kurt was frozen on the ground, not sure what to do.
"I'll do it myself!" Blaine called from his own bedroom. The door slammed.
-
Two hours later, Kurt still hadn't fallen asleep. He tiptoed out of his room and down the hallway. He pressed his ear to the doorway of Blaine's room. There was no sound omitting from the room, so he wrapped his hand around the cold doorknob and twisted it open. If they hadn't fought earlier, Kurt would've chuckled a little at what he saw.
Blaine was half on his bed, half in his wheelchair. His feet were caught in the space under the arm rests in the wheelchair. The rest of his body was sprawled horizontally across the bed. His pants were just above his knees.
Kurt went over and removed Blaine's pants completely, untangling his feet from the wheelchair and laying him out properly. He dug through Blaine's messy drawers (He would be cleaning those tomorrow, Rachel must've messed them up!) and found a pair of his warmest sweatpants. They were the gray ones he'd gotten at Dalton and they fit oh-so perfectly on his hips. He gently pulled them onto Blaine's legs, and then adjusted them to the proper spot on his waist. He took Blaine's fleece blanket off of the edge of his bed, not wanting to tuck his boyfriend in for fear of waking him, and covered him from chin to toe. He placed a small kiss on his forehead before leaving Blaine's room and heading to his own.
For a while, Kurt sat on the ottoman by his window. Rumors were true; New York was a city that never slept. The stars were barely visible in the night sky and, for just a fading moment, Kurt missed Ohio. He missed gazing at the stars with Blaine when they were little and innocent, when fights were about which sparkly crayon to use on the princess' dress and which doll they should get when they returned Blaine's truck.
Thinking of those things reminded Kurt of the box in his closet. He pulled out the faded cardboard box and, crawling over on his bed, began to play with the dolls. He dug through old drawings and colored pictures, smiling at the little messages Blaine had written for him. There were even some he'd written to Blaine, but those had been kept secret.
He fell asleep holding mermaid Barbie to his chest, Cinderella clasped in the hand lying in his lap.
-
"Good morning, starshine! The earth says hello!" Blaine shouted before wheeling quickly over to Kurt's bed and tickling him intensely. He'd wheeled into Kurt's room to find him asleep with two Barbie dolls, which he found adorable.
Kurt started laughing hysterically before pushing Blaine away, gently. "Are you okay? I'm sorry about-"
"Don't worry about it. It's... It's something we both have to get used to." He puckered his lips, expecting a kiss. Kurt chuckled and kissed him quickly.
"You have therapy today, right Blaine?" Kurt asked, setting out clothes for the both of them.
"Yeah, I do. I don't have time for a shower before, though, we have to leave in like ten minutes." He gestured to the clock on the wall and his watch, making Kurt gasp. Kurt helped Blaine dress and dressed himself. They ran out the door.
-
After Blaine's therapy session, Kurt sat alone in living room. Blaine wheeled in and Kurt assisted him in getting up on the couch.
"You know what I learned today?" Blaine asked slyly, raising an eyebrow and nudging shoulders with Kurt.
"What?" Kurt tossed his magazine and excitedly put his hands in his lap, sitting right up.
"This!" Nudging Kurt's hip with his own repeatedly, Blaine laughed. They ended up in a kissing war, each trying to kiss each other so much that their lips nearly fell off.
"You know what this deserves as celebration, Blaine Anderson?" Kurt whispered seductively in his boyfriend's ear.
"A shower?" Blaine suggested, raising an eyebrow.
Kurt nodded.
"But how am I-" Blaine began, worried about how he was going to shower.
"The shower seat, Blaine," Kurt assured him and picked him up.
"But that's not very sexy," Blaine sighed. Things were going to have to change so much.
"Everything you sit on is sexy, Blaine Anderson," Kurt laughed, "Especially when it's me."
Blaine began to tickle him and Kurt picked him up and ran to the bathroom.
The shower door flew open, with Kurt's assistance of course, and they jumped into the steaming hot water with their clothes on.
