Blaine sighed. The note read "Hey cutie. Call me." There was a number, too. He turned around, there was bound to be a girl winking at him. He should've known, he wasn't in a bow tie and he didn't have hair gel in. He gently took the note and put it in his pocket. He decided it was best to let her down in person.
The class ended far too quickly for Blaine's taste. Although he'd done this before, it never got easier. The girl approached him.
"I saw you got my note," She smiled and grabbed his books. He looked at her. She was not what Blaine had expected. "My name's Alice!" Alice was wearing large framed glasses and had her hair in a messy ponytail, her side bangs falling in just the wrong spot on her face.
"Hey, um, I'm Blaine." He held out his hand. How was he supposed to do this to a girl that he expected often got rejected, if she'd even asked anyone out before?
"So..." Alice tapped her foot nervously, as if expecting something to happen magically like in the movies.
"Here's my number," Blaine gave it to her. "But... I don't play for your team, I'm really sorry."
"Oh, god, this is so embarrassing," Alice threw her head into her hands.
Blaine's hand found its way to her back and he lifted her chin in a friendly manner. "Hey," he chuckled a little, "It's fine. As much as I hate to feel like I'm friend-zoning you, we could be friends."
"Awesome," Alice smiled and Blaine embraced her in a hug. She obviously wasn't expecting it, but she still wrapped her arms around his neck anyway.
"What do you have next?" He asked when they'd finally pulled apart.
"Uhh, I have AP Global Politics and Government. What about you?"
"Same! Wanna go together? We can compare schedules."
"Sure," Alice smiled and walked down the hallway. Blaine and Alice and very similar interests, therefore being enrolled in all of the same classes. Except, Blaine noticed, Alice's main focus in the afterschool programs was violin, vocal, and piano, whereas his was guitar, piano, and vocal. He asked her about the violin as they walked into class.
Throughout the day, Blaine received three more notes from hopeful girls, who were all snobs. He didn't let them down as easy because he noticed that one of them was making out with another guy in the hallway five minutes later.
"Man, you should just get a ‘I'm gay!' shirt," Alice laughed.
Blaine chuckled along, "Or go back to the hair gel."

Kurt was having an amazing first day at NYADA. Even though he wished his boyfriend was with him, the day couldn't have been better. He met lots of awesome friends and his classes were actually interesting, minus History. But how could that be interesting, anyways? Unless, of course, it was History of Fashion. (Which he also took.)
Then, his day took a nasty turn. He met a boy. A gay boy. His name was Chandler and he was adorable (in a childish way). Kurt wasn't into him, though, and he was sad when he saw the poor kid's eyes break.
"I'm sorry, but I'm in a relationship... We live together, actually. Once he graduates from high school, we're going to get married."
"Oh," Chandler just stood there, unsure of what to say.
Kurt rushed into something he probably shouldn't have done. "Here," he said, scribbling on a piece of paper, "Have my number. As friends," he nodded.
Chandler jumped up and down excitedly and ran off.
Kurt sighed.
What had he done?
-
"Okay, scratch that. You need to get an ‘I'm gay and I have a boyfriend!' shirt!" Alice and Blaine were joking together after their arts classes in the afternoon, in which Blaine had proven to be obviously gay. He had just turned down yet another guy.
"Yeah, seriously," Blaine laughed.
"What are you singing for your glee club audition?" Alice's mood shifted to serious.
"I don't know," Blaine suddenly was aware that his audition was tomorrow.
"I'll text my parents. Can I come over? I can help if you want," She was already pulling out her phone. Blaine stopped. Kurt would want to help, but he was sure he'd be happy that Blaine was making new friends. Alice noticed his worry. "It's okay, Kurt can help if you don't think he'll-"
"No," Blaine assured her. "It's fine as long as it's fine with your mom and dad."
"Where do you live? My Moms say yes, by the way." Blaine had to avoid not laughing. She'd obviously text them before he'd agreed to it, before the subject had even come up, probably.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't know..." Blaine wasn't exactly sure what to say.
"It's okay," Alice laughed lightly. "I'm used to it. I take no offense."
"I live just a few bus stops away, in the Wheatsville Complex."
"I know where that is," Alice said as they swiped their cards and headed on the bus. "Why do they call it that?"
"I don't know," Blaine sat down and wondered about that. When it was finally their stop, Alice had jumped off before he had even thought about it. "How did you know?"
"I've been here to visit my grandpa before. He wouldn't see his daughter, but he'd see me... She was a ‘disappointment.'" Alice added quotations around that phrase.
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine," Alice said as the climbed the stairs.
"I think I should lead, don't you?" Blaine laughed and jumped to Alice's side. "Or at least, stay level with you."
"Good point. I was heading towards Pops' old apartment. Oops!" She gestured for Blaine to go ahead and he led her to his apartment. He slid the key in the lock and put it back in his bag.
When the door shut , Alice didn't even jump at the auto-lock.
"Sit down, let me get Kurt. Wait, do you know where the living room is?" Blaine was walking down the hall before he realized that Alice had never been here before.
"Yeah, all these apartments are set up the same." As Alice found the living room, she was thankful that Kurt must have as good of a taste in furniture as Blaine had said. She sunk into the couch and fell asleep.
"Alice?" Kurt was tapping the girl's shoulder.
"WHO ARE- WHERE- WHAT?" Alice was startled. "Oh, wait... Sorry.. Uh, I'm Alice. Wait you know.. Sorry I fell asleep on your couch it's... just... so... comfortable."
"It's fine," Kurt chuckled. "I should've had Blaine wake you. It's dinner time, I figured you and Blaine could work after dinner if you want. Are you okay with salads?"
"I'm a vegetarian, just so you know, not to be a bother."
"It's fine, these salads have no meat."
"Awesome, thank you so much," Alice followed Kurt to the kitchen, rubbing her eyes.
"Good morning, sleepy head," Blaine chuckled and Kurt pushed him jokingly.
"You guys are even cuter than my Moms!" She laughed and they both squeezed her shoulder.
"So, Blaine, how did you and Alice meet?" Kurt smiled. "Well, Alice, I should ask you, how did you come across the unfortunate occurrence of-" He was stopped by an elbow in his side. Everyone laughed, but Kurt repeated the question. "How'd you guys meet?" He wasn't trying to be pushy, he was just curious.
Blaine and Alice locked eyes. What should they say?
