"Happy one-week-iversary!" I exclaimed to Kurt at our lockers as I held out a nicely wrapped box towards him.
Kurt turned to look at me. A smile showed on his face that looked slightly pouty, "You didnt have to get me anything!" He exclaimed.
I moved the box closer to him, "But I must. You deserve it." I told him.
"I didnt get you anything!" He said.
"But you dont have to. You dont owe me anything!" I assured.
"I must. If you must then I should too. I need to give you something." Kurt persisted.
"How... bout... if you pay for a movie then can you call it a present?"
Kurt chuckled, "Deal! Ill take you a movie as my gift to you."
"Agreed!"
Kurt took the package from me. He unwrapped an all white box that he happily opened to expose a baby-blue scarf. He gave me another genuine smile, "I love it!" He exclaimed, "Im even going to wear it tonight! I have the perfect shirt to go with this!"
"Thanks. Its an Alexander McQueen." I said as a little blush spread across my cheeks.
Kurt giggled, "I know."
"Of course you would!" I smiled brightly.
The bell rang right then. It made us both sigh, disappointed.
We looked around the hallway to make sure no one was around. The amount of homophobics in Lima were high and so were the stakes of getting beat up for being a same sex couple showing intimacy in public. We both hated that we had to be cautious about it but we really had no other choice. Hopefully once we got to New York that would change. But for now being hidden and pecking Kurt on the lips in an empty hall way worked too. We had each other forever. Didnt we?
We were sitting in Glee Club when I got the good idea. I grabbed Kurts hand and drug him to the front of the room. Mister Schue smiled at us and moved to give us the space to perform.
"What are you doing?" Kurt asked in slight exasperation.
"Were going to sing a duet!" I announced to both him and the other New Directions.
"What? No! Blaine-!"
But it was too late. I announced to the group that in celebration of our one-week-iversary we were going to do a duet. I pointed to the person at the keyboard and the flute players and straight away they began playing a familiar tune.
We get it on almost every night
When that moon is big and bright
Its a supernatural delight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
I began. I then cued Kurt who looked like he already knew what was going on
Everybody here is out of sight
They dont bark and they dont bite
They keep things loose, they keep them tight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
He sang quite beautifully. Then I joined him
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybodys feeling warm and bright
Its such a fine and natural sight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
And by now everyone was bobbing their heads or tapping their feet to the music.
We like our fun and we never fight
I sang
You can dance and stay uptight
He sang
Its a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight
We both sang. Now, everyone was up and out of their seats, swinging their hips and clapping their hands. They all joined in at the chorus.
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybodys feeling warm and bright
Its such a fine and natural sight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
I sang the next two lines
We get it on almost every night
When that moon is big and bright
Then Kurt sang
Its a supernatural delight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
Then everybody sang
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybodys feeling warm and bright
Its such a fine and natural sight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
We repeated the final chorus about four times before we all broke out in laughter. All of us. Every. Last. One!
