So I’m just sitting here thinking about how in the AU Lima, Ohio where canon Glee exists, Blaine Anderson is probably laying awake in his bed right now—the same bed where he and Kurt lost their virginity to each other—thinking about how tomorrow’s the day that Kurt’s finally graduating. I mean, he’s known all along that Kurt would graduate before him, but now it’s actually here, and they only have one last summer together before Kurt heads off to New York without him.
His phone is sitting on top of his nightstand. He never turned it off, just in case. He really wants to text Kurt, to say anything: “I’m proud of you.” “I wish you were here with me.” “I’m going to miss you so fucking badly.” “I love you.”
But Kurt needs his rest, so he just lets it sit on the nightstand, just in case.
Blaine’s tired, but he can’t sleep. It’s two in the morning, and he’s just as awake as he was when he hung up with Kurt and climbed into his bed three hours ago. The love of his life is graduating from high school, and he still has a year at McKinley. There’s no doubt in his mind that they’ll make it—it’s just one year of separation before the rest of their lives—but he misses Kurt already.
Stifling a massive yawn, he rolls onto his side and reaches a hand out into the darkness. He searches until his fingers brush against the soft fabric that makes up Margaret Thatcher Dog’s fur (He may or may not have asked Kurt to spray her with a bit of his cologne last week…), and he pulls the stuffed animal to his chest, trying to relax. If he shows up at school tomorrow with bags under his eyes, Kurt will be too worried to focus on the excitement of the celebration ahead.
It’s just one year. They have decades and decades of time to love each other. They can do it.
