As Kurt stood over the stove that sat in the corner of his spotless kitchen, he was feeling rather peaceful. The familiar stirs of his pasta, the soothing tunes  from classic musicals and the sweet, yet spicy, scent of the bolognese souce set his mind at rest. It wasn't like he had much to think about... He was sure he was happy! He had a nice apartment, a good job and a boyfriend who he loved a lot! Kurt would never have imagined that he would be settled down by the time he was 22. Especially not with someone as fabulous as Karofsky! Well... That's what Santana had told him. They hadn't spoken since she got arrested for assisting Puck  with a bank robbery last year, just after he and David had got together. He was happy...Honestly! Maybe not as happy as he could be...But still content.

After a good ten minutes, the door banged shut. The man that Kurt had so easily pittied for, given in to, had walked into the apartment. Pressing a strong kiss onto Kurts cheek, David frowned looking at what was going on. Noticing his expression, Kurt furrowed his eyebrows and turned to face him. "Everything okay?" Karofsky sighed. Unfortunately, the whiff of alcohol hadn't gone un-noticed by Kurt. "It's Thursday. We have pizza on Thursday." Kurt turned off the Hob and placed the pan on the cutting board. "Well I thought tha-" He began, voice full of understanding, only to be cut off by a deeper, harsher tone. "Well you thought wrong! All day I've been waiting for that fucking pizza and I end up with this!?" His voice raised halfway through once he batted the pan off of the worktop. Kurt flinched at the noise. All of this was unnecessary...."David!! I spend the last hour on that meal!" He whined, picking up the pan and looking at the now spoiled food mournfully. "Kurt. Juss-Shut up and get out of my sight!" He shouted, slurring obviously now. Kurt glared, forcing his tears to not fall. Any sign of weakness, and Karofsky would just explode. You couldn't be weak in his house! Oh no! You could hardly even have feelings with out getting a lecture in return... Doing as told, Kurt wondered off to his bedroom, head ducked in shame. What had happened to the happy atmosphere?

As Kurt cried in his room, alone, neglected, ignored, lyrics echoed through his head...

This is the hardest story that I've ever told

No hope, no love, no glory

Happy endings gone forever more

I feel as if I'm wasted

And I'm wastin' every day.

Kurt couldn't carry on like this... In a relationship built out of pitty and fear... As those very thoughts crossed his mind, he slid into a light sleep.

God knows what time it was when Karofsky pounded his fists on the door, Startling Kurt awake. Shouts could be heard on the other side of the door, unaudible though. He concidered his options. Open the door and greet his Lovely partner, or curl up under the duvet and pretend that this random outburst hadn't been heard due to his state of unconsiousness. He choose the latter.

Bad choice.

Bursting into the room, David Karofsky once again started a conversation voice dripping with disappointment. "Fuck sake Kurt! Why the fuck are you still asleep!?" As he tugged the sheets back, Kurt felt more vulnerable than ever before. Deciding that his plan had failed, he jumped out fo bed and stood a good distance away from David. "I-I had a busy day!" He mentally cursed himself for his stutter. Of course this recived no sympaphy from the rather broad, drunken guy that stood infront of the small, fragile man. "Busy day my arse!! All you do is teache some stupid little prats how to mess about on a piano! I am the one that works here!" Funny that. Last time Kurt checked Karofsky had no job.  "David, please... You're over reacting! Just get to bed and-" Before Kurt could realise what was happening, Karofsky had stepped up to Kurt, and slapped him. Slapped him hard. Right across his delicate, porceline face.
