As much as Amelia loved traveling, she detested airports. It's not like they scared her or intimidated her, it was the fact that she had to keep and eye on her whole family. Her father had a fear of flying, so she had to make sure his panic attacks were subdued. Her mother was on the constant lookout for terrorists and believed every suspicious looking person was out to bomb them. Blaine was constantly getting diverted by various kiosks, duty free shops and the vast array of travel-sized items. Amelia was the only one with a decent head on her shoulders and she hated it.
But this time she had Kurt. Something she'd never experienced before.
Kurt was a pro at airports. He traveled home by plane to Ohio often and knew the ins and outs of traveling, so he became Amelia's partner in keeping everyone in check. He held Blaine's hand an pulled him closer every time he felt him straying towards any travel pillows or mini Statue of Liberty figurine kiosks. He outwardly expressed how safe he felt with the American government's regulations of liquids on airplane and the extensive security checks at the airport in order to calm Clara's nerves. He even packed a stress ball that Hollace kept squeezed in his hand as they made their way to the gate. Kurt was a saint.
To be perfectly honest, no one was tremendously excited about this trip. Every year Clara's side of the family met up for a week in the summer for a family trip. After Clara's mother and sister moved to California, they felt they were losing touch with the Anderson's, so the annual family trip became dreaded a summer tradition.
It seemed like fun at first, but the Braun's weren't the best of company. Their Grandma, although once the most interesting person on the face of the planet lost all of her color after their Grandpa died twenty-two years ago. Clara had only one sibling and that was her sister, Sadie. Aunt Sadie was a robot, to put it nicely. She was your stereotypical Stepford Wife, with her perfectly ironed pastel sundress, flippy blonde hair and she always wore a pearl necklace. Not only that, but her clean-cut, always grinning husband Ken and twins, Tristan and Hailey were just as perfect. It was disturbing.
This year it was a week long trip to the Bahamas, and what should have been a promise of sunshine and fun could only be foreseen as absolute dread.
They sat at the gate, getting there earlier than expected thanks to Kurt's ability to keep them all calm and collected. Amelia played with her hair, while Clara read a book, Hollace made last minute business calls and Kurt and Blaine shared headphones listening to music. Kurt noticed the bored expressions on everyones faces and sat up.
"So, pretty exciting trip we're going on, huh?" Kurt asked, attempting to boost their morale.
"No, Aunt Sadie sucks." Amelia moped.
"Amelia!" Clara gasped, "Aunt Sadie does not suck! She is my sister! Plus, that's no reason to not enjoy this trip. That's a very ungrateful way to think, young lady, I know a lot of people who would kill for a vacation like this!"
"That's a lie, mom, you only know rich people." Amelia exclaimed, rolling her eyes. Clara threw down her book on the chair next to her and turned to face her daughter.
"Amelia Christine Anderson, don't you tell me what kind of friends I have or don't have! Now if you don't want to come to the Bahamas with us, I will gladly have a taxi pick you up and bring you to Nana Matilda's, and you can stay there for a week. Now you father, brother, Kurt and I are all planning on having a wonderful time with or without you." Clara swung back around and hastily picked up her book. Everyone knew she wasn't reading, she was too angry to. Amelia just huffed and crossed her arms, looking straight ahead of her.
"Plus," Clara added quietly, not looking up from her book, "I called the hotel ahead of time to make sure that we'll be dong all scheduled activities as our own family and not with Aunt Sadie's family." She flipped the page, and everyone cracked a smile.
"Told you Aunt Sadie sucks." Amelia grinned.
"Amelia!" Clara exclaimed, but then began laughing herself, causing everyone else to start laughing too.
"Welcome to our new home for the next five days!" Blane cheered, as he opened the door to his and Kurt's room. Kurt's eyes immediately caught the view outside, he grabbed Blaine's hand and pulled him outside to their balcony.
"Wow, Blaine, look at this." He remarked. Behind them was the most beautiful view of the ocean they had ever seen. The water was a brilliant shade of turquoise Kurt had never seen before and the white sand was just inviting them to come down.
"I can't believe I get to spend the next few days in the most gorgeous place in the world with you." Blaine cooed, looking at Kurt.
"Oh stop." Kurt blushed and giggled. "You know, we have out own hotel room with decently thick walls and I'm pretty sure no one can see us from the beach if the curtains are open."
"Really, now?" Blane said, wrapping his arm around Kurt's waist.
"Really and truly." Kurt confirmed. He looked away then sighed. "Just look at this view though! I mean I've never seen anything like it."
"My god, this is so beautiful." Blaine sighed, looking down at the waves gently crashing on the shore. Her turned his head and looked into Kurt's eyes. "So is this." He smiled and kissed Kurt. Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine's neck as the kiss deepened. A slight breeze picked up and blew through the palm trees and Kurt knew this was going to be the most romantic trip with the man he loved...
...Until the door flew open and the sound of size seven and a half wedges trudged through room.
"Hey guys!" Amelia yelled, and Kurt and Blaine immediately broke apart.
"Hey you." Blaine called out, sounding less than thrilled.
"So, mom and dad said we're gonna be roomies! How exciting?" She squealed, taking Kurt's hand and hugging it.
"Very." Blaine groaned. Well this is just great.
