It was a typical summer Saturday in Brooklyn, New York. Amelia's eye's darted back and forth between two bikini's that lay on her bed. Which to pack, which to wear she contemplated. The Anderson's left the next day for their annual vacation with her mother's side of the family, which left here there, at 8 AM, trying to do her last minute packing. One was pink and white striped, which was a perfect cheery color and would contrast nicely with the blue waters of the Caribbean but was certain to catch a few eyes at the pool she was going to with her friends today. The other was a pin-up style navy blue with red bows, which was just as adorable, but less likely to draw any attention from the Dalton Academy boys who like to frequent the pool every Saturday.
Amelia took one more look at her pink bikini and decided that she was more likely to catch the eye of a gorgeous European tourist, so she'd save it for the trip. She grabbed her other bathing suit and headed towards her bathroom to change. The sun was shining and summer was calling
Kurt Hummel grinned as he marched down 50th street, a clear victor in one of Broadway's toughest challenges. He celebrated his win by treating himself to a lunch, although alone, his abundant joy was enough to keep him company. Without even looking, he went to Rachel's contact to call her as he ate is victory sandwich. She put her name in his phone as 'Aaaa Rachel :D' which, like her pink daisy sundress she was wearing that day, made Kurt think she was really a twelve year old trapped in a twenty two year old's body.
The phone rang longer than Rachel ever would let it and he pulled his phone off his ear. He looked at the screen and realized there was something wrong. A recent addition to his contacts had thrown off the dynamic of his contact list and he was accidentally calling Amelia Anderson.
"Hello?" The familiar voice answered.
Kurt panicked. Should he hang up? Should he just say wrong number and that be the end of it? No, he was already embarrassed enough. Plus, spending time with Rachel since she didn't get that part in Mamma Mia has been more of a prison sentence, filled with tears and the usage of Kurt's arm as a stress ball. Maybe this was sort of a blessing in disguise.
"Hey Amelia! It's Kurt!" He piped, turning red with embarrassment. He was nervous, he'd never talked on the phone with her, and the most time they'd spend together was playing manhunt at a party. He could only pray that Amelia wouldn't be weirded out.
"Oh hey Kurt! What's up?" She replied, thankfully cheery.
"Well, um, I've done the impossible."
"The impossible?"
"I've won the Wicked lottery. Something that doesn't happen unless you're a Japanese tourist. So, I have two front row tickets to today's matinee and I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me?" He asked, playing it as cool as he possibly could.
"Well if you're asking me out, I beg of you not to tell my brother!" Amelia uttered, sarcastically. "But how long till the show?"
"About two hours. How fast can you get here?"
"I'll be there in an hour tops." From what Kurt could make out, she sounded ecstatic. Yes! Amelia let out a small laugh. "You're lucky, Hummel, I was just about to head out to the pool. I think these plans are much better than spending my day flirting with yuppy private school boys."
"Ah, see I once flirted with an ex-yuppy private school. Now he's my boyfriend."
"Kurt, are you trying to convince me that flirting with rich boys is a better life choice than seeing Broadway's biggest, and in my personal opinion, best musical?"
"No, little grasshopper, what you have to do is find them after their private school days. That's what I did, that was the better life choice. But you, you're young. Spend your youth seeing hit musicals at discounted prices while you still can." Kurt commanded, and he heard Amelia laugh on the other end of the phone.
"Alright, Hummel, I'll see you in an hour." Amelia said, and they both said their goodbyes. This would be an adventure.
Blaine walked down the street to class and turned the corner. He saw the building at the end of the street, only four more classes he thought. Blaine only needed to finish this one class to finally earn his degree. He constantly cursed himself for not finishing it last semester, and now he was stuck taking this stupid summer class and graduating later than Kurt.
The familiar tune of his phone rang in his book bag. He fished around and saw Kurt calling.
"Hey hon, I gotta get to class, I can't really talk right now." Blaine said as he reached for the the doors.
"I'm seeing a Broadway show with your sister in two hours." Kurt blurted out, getting straight to the point and not waisting any time. Blaine stopped in front of the building, as his classmates passed by and entered before him.
"My sister? And how did that come about?"
"Well, I'll put it quickly, cause I know you're in a rush. I won wicked lotto, and yes I know, we should start playing the actual lottery with that luck. Anyway, when I went to call Rachel to ask her if she wanted to come, I accidentally called Amelia and decided it was fate that I dialed the wrong number, so here we are. She'll be here in an hour or so and I thought you'd enjoy this little mishap." Kurt explained. On the other end, Blaine nodded, but was unable to process it. Now that was odd.
"Well, that's not something you hear happening every day. I have to go to class, seriously I'm gonna be late but have a great time. Amelia's a fun kid, you'll have an interesting time I'm sure. Send her my love!" Blaine said, fast-walking to class, with under a minute to go before he'd be late.
"I will. Have fun at class if you can! Love you!"
"Love you too, sweetie." With that, Blaine hung up and shook his head. He couldn't wait to hear about this one later.
Kurt checked his watch, which now read 1:45. Where is she! He thought, waiting outside the Gershwin Theater. They needed to get in early and Amelia was really pushing it. He contemplated just going in without her when he heard the sound of fast paced feat clambering behind him. Before he could turn around, two hands grabbed each of his arms and a voice yelled "BOO!"
Kurt turned around, and to his luck it was Amelia. He laughed and hugged her.
"Hey Amelia! How are you?" He asked, offering his arm, which she took, and headed into the theater.
"Good, you know, schools over, summer's here, life is great blah blah blah. Sorry about the wait though, there was some construction on the subway and it took forever. I thought we'd be stuck underground and mutant zombies would crawl out from under the seats like a creepy 50's horror flick." She replied. They were heading up the escalator and Kurt looked up at her.
"You really have a colorful imagination, you know." Was all he could say in response. She wasn't really a weird person, she was just very interesting and had a anomalous way with words.
"I know, I pride myself on it." She gave Kurt a small smile and wink.
They got to their seats, in the front row, right in the middle. The show began not even five minutes after they sat down, and immediately they were captivated in the show's magic. Both Kurt and Amelia agreed, it was the best seat in the house, despite the neck-craning. They could see the sweat drip of everyone's heads and could read every emotion off the faces of the actors perfectly. They could even hear their voices, not just the amplified voices through their microphone. That's what theater is supposed to be like Kurt thought.
Intermission came quicker than either of them wanted it to, but it was still nice to have a bit of time to talk, since from they second Amelia got there, they were in a mad dash to get to their seats on time.
"Thanks so much for asking me to come with you Kurt, really, Wicked is my absolute favorite. Plus, getting these seat is like a one in a million chance and you chose me over all of your friends." Amelia leaned over and hugged Kurt. It caught him off guard, before the show she was bubbly and bouncy but now was she sentimental. Kurt was so glad she was enjoying herself.
"Hey, I actually think you're a cool kid. Your brother never stops talking about how great you are, and I just had to see so myself." Kurt smiled but punched himself on the inside. He didn't want to lie and tell her that it was sheer accident that he invited her. She truly believed that Kurt meant to invite her. Now that they were there, he couldn't be happier he wound up calling her, but he was guilty at how honored Amelia felt.
"You know, this is actually my tenth time seeing Wicked." Amelia remarked.
"Ah, welcome to the double digit club." Amelia gave Kurt a questioning look, and he smirked. "This is my thirty-seventh."
"Holy shit! Thirty-seven? Do you get like an award for seeing a show that many times?"
"Oh, please, that's weak. My best friend has seen Phantom of the Opera ninety-three times." Kurt said, matter-of-factly.
"Seriously? I mean, Andrew Lloyd Webber is like my uncle and I haven't even seen it close to as many times as that." Amelia sat back, astonished. Who has that much free time? She wondered.
"Wait, when your mom said 'Uncle Andy' was having a benefit in February, she meant Andrew Lloyd Weber?" Kurt exclaimed, dumbfounded.
"Yeah. Didn't Blaine tell you? He and mom were very close back in the 80's when she was still singing. He's always over for birthdays and stuff. You'll have to come meet him some time, Uncle Andy is awesome."
Kurt sat, gawking. He couldn't believe it, the Andrew Lloyd freaking Webber was close family friends with his boyfriend. He was considered an uncle! This whole time! How could Blaine have kept something like that from Kurt?
Kurt was about to open his mouth to say something when the band erupted and act II started.
The show ended and Amelia and Kurt sat there, arms linked and eyes pouring tears. Wicked never failed to melt them and turn them into a sobbing mess. It was everything; the heartbreaking ending, the grandeur and beauty of the whole production, the immense talent of the cast and the poignant music of the orchestra below them.
They cheered loudly and clapped as hard as their hands would allow at curtain call. They went from wiping a tear, to clapping, to wiping more tears as the cast bowed and the curtain finally lowered.
"That was amazing! Seriously, the best Fiyero I've ever seen." Amelia remarked as they walked out of the theater, still teary eyed.
"Ugh! If I could, I'd spend every minute of every day watching that damn musical." Kurt replied. They walked down 50th street towards Broadway. Kurt sighed with content and look down at Amelia as they waited to cross the street. "What do you say to some dinner with me and your brother?"
"I would say that's a lovely idea, Mr. Hummel."
After much mind changing and a final decision by Blaine, the three found themselves at a Mexican restaurant down the street from Kurt and Blaine's apartment. It was delicious, moderately priced and the couple were frequent costumers, so the staff knew them by name.
"So how was the show?" Blaine asked, as he dipped his tortilla chip in some salsa.
"A-ma-zing!" Amelia gushed.
"Oh Blaine, it was brilliant, I mean this has to be the best cast ever. Well, you know besides the original cast." Kurt raved, his blue eyes growing wide with wonder.
"Ugh, I wish I could have seen it. This class is so stupid, I mean it's almost and insult to be there." Blaine frowned as he complained. The class was really a waste of time. There were only twelve people and the teacher didn't even care. He knew he'd finish it with an A, but it was annoying that he had to waste his time with something as simple as that.
"Well, maybe if you took it last semester, you'd have graduated by now and not have to worry about it…" Amelia said quietly, then her and Kurt shared a look and laughed.
Blaine kicked them both under the table. Amelia was definitely spending too much time with Kurt. He'd heard Kurt say that at least once every day and although it was true, his last semester was hell and he didn't think he could handle another class.
"Kurt, you are a terrible influence on my sister." Blaine grimaced at Kurt, who stuck his tongue out at him. "Amelia, don't listen to a word this man says. He may look all sweet and cute, but he's really evil. I once caught him having tea with Mussolini."
"Oh, please Blaine, I don't know what kind of heavy drugs you're on, but Kurt Hummel is a sweetheart." Amelia smiled and nuzzled her head on Kurt's shoulder.
"Ooooh, Blaine I like this one, I think you have some competition." Kurt smirked and wrapped his arm around Amelia. She giggled and raised an eyebrow at Blaine. Just then, their favorite waitress, Miriam, came over with their food.
"Blaine, I think someone's stolen your boyfriend!" Miriam laughed and nudged him with her elbow.
"Okay, okay you guys, let's just eat." Blaine whined, his face turning red.
"Oh, I'm just kidding, sweetheart." Miriam sighed and left them with their food.
The three ate their food and chatted about Amelia's junior year, Kurt's plans now that he's graduated and Blaine's burning desire to get a puppy, even though dogs weren't allowed in their building.
Amelia laughed at the small bickering Kurt and Blaine occasionally got into and she even shared her own opinions. She found it easy to talk to them, and they never felt that weird uncomfortable age difference with her. It was surprisingly one of the most enjoyable evenings Blaine had had in a while. Sure, going out to bars and clubs with his boyfriend was nice, but a quiet evening at their favorite restaurant with his sister was just as entertaining.
The boys accompanied Amelia to the ferry and watched the sun set over the water.
"So, I'll see you guys tomorrow. Mom wants to get out bright and early for the airport." Amelia said as the ferry approached.
"Yes, tell mom we'll be there." Blaine said as he rolled his eyes. Their mother was always threatening to leave early, but the Anderson's usually found themselves running to catch the plane.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure we're there early, right Blaine?" Kurt linked his arm in Blaine's his smiled. "I can't wait! I've never been outside the country before, this is going to be amazing!"
"Well, let's hope." Amelia winced at Blaine, who understood exactly what she meant.
"Let's hope?" Kurt asked.
"Mom's side of the family is not nearly as interesting as Dad's" Blaine explained. "But, hey, we'll have each other, right?"
"So is this when we all jump into a big group high-five and yell 'Yeah!' and then break out into song?" Amelia remarked at Blaine's last sentence and Kurt broke out into laughter.
"Meil, you are such a little bitch." Blaine scoffed, and Kurt gasped. He threw his hands over Amelia's ears and scolded him.
"Little ears over hear!" He berated Blaine and the three laughed. Suddenly the booming sound of the boats horn sounded and Amelia turned to see the ferry had arrived. She quickly hugged Kurt then Blaine and ran towards the boat.
"See you next week!" She called, boarding the boat.
"See you then, Meil Worm!" Blaine yelled.
"I am so happy I accidentally called that kid, she's much more entertaining than Rachel." Kurt sighed as they left the ferry, hand in hand with Blaine.
"That's Meil for you."

long black hair with uncontrollable curls, green eyes, short & lightly tanned skin
I honestly imagine her looking a bit like my own version of Blaine's sister, whom is loosely based off myself, but that's only because I suck at envisioning new characters. (She's not a Mary Sue, I SWEAR, and I will never admit to anything otherwise).So...yeah. I guess. I really liked the chapter, and ooh, the Bahamas? Fancy fancy!
