They were all elated from the fair for the rest of the week and though they filled the remainder of Carol's stay with trips and events, nothing quite topped Alana's spectacle.
The night before Carol went home Kurt took them out for dinner to one of his favourite restaurants. They chatted happily, but neither Kurt nor Blaine noticed the way Carol observed them. She looked at them both with blatant adoration, love and a little sadness, her heart bloomed for the love they continued to find in each other, but ached to share just a few more minutes of that with Burt. God she missed him, and he would have loved being here with 'his boys'. Sure, it wouldn't have been complete without Finn, but she had seen how much it had meant to him that Blaine was back in Kurt's life, in any capacity. He just wanted someone to love Kurt, they way he deserved and though Blaine had made his mistakes, Burt had made it clear to her that he had never given up on him. Carol was just happy he had gotten to see he was right before he died.
Towards the end of the meal they argued good-naturedly over who would pay the bill, Kurt won, of course, but Carol paid the tip.

Blaine was working when Carol's flight was scheduled, so Kurt took the morning off rather than let Carol go by taxi, they decided to leave early and swing by Carol's favourite coffee shop on the way. Once seated with mugs to warm their fingers, despite the scorching day Carol decided to dive right in.
"It's nice that you and Blaine have sorted things out." She watched as Kurt raised his eyebrows and swallowed his mouthful of coffee.
"It is... we still have things we're working through, but we're better."
"Don't we all? I think he's definitely proved himself... I may not have been here all the time, but I can tell he's been your rock, you're trusting him more." Kurt started a little at this, he already knew he'd forgiven Blaine and that he'd gained a certain amount of trust, there's no way he'd have let Blaine see him fall to pieces if he hadn't. Blaine had put him back together, in the very non-evasive, gentle way he always had. To hear it plain and simple from Carol like that just made it slot into place for him. He trusted Blaine 100%. Something he wasn't entirely sure he'd manage, despite the reasons behind Blaine's leaving. Carol just smiled knowingly and patted his hands gently. Damn it if that woman didn't know Kurt better than he knew himself. Their conversation changed after that, but Kurt's brain was working overtime.

Blaine eyed the elevator in Kurt's apartment block and decided to take the stairs instead, marching past the desk sending a wave to the girl on the desk... one day he might learn all the names that Kurt came by so easily. He thought about his own largely abandoned apartment and decided to go over tomorrow to check it was sound and collect any mail, since he'd been living largely at Kurt's since their return. He pondered the subject as he climbed, by the fourth flight of stairs he was wishing he'd taken the elevator after all. He finally reached the right door panting and sweating somewhat, he paused a moment, catching his breath before opening the door and stopping in his tracks.

Once Kurt had left Carol he'd shot straight across to the boutique, grabbing Caryn, shutting up shop for the day and dragging her around town, explaining his plan to her as he went. It wasn't until the third shop and numerous full carrier bags later that she stopped him for a moment.
"Are you sure, like really sure about this Kurt?" Her eyes bore into his, searching for any uncertainty.
"I've never been more sure about anything." She nodded and pushed him on her heart performing a happy little back flip. She couldn't help thinking it was about freaking time Kurt caught a break.

The sight before Blaine was somewhat a surprise. A large, homemade banner was hung the length of the living room, each letter a different colour spelling out 'Welcome Home'. Streamers, various colours of fabric swatches and huge blown up photos of the two of them at random stages of their relationship were strewn around the room, and from what he could see, the kitchen also.
He took a couple of steps into the room, his brain trying to make sense of the visual overload that Kurt's usually pristine living room had become. He caught sight of Kurt stood beneath the banner, a look on his face somewhere between nervous and excited.
"Blaine?"
"Kurt?" Blaine mimicked. He dropped his bag, containing a few new CDs and a ledger detailing stock movement, since he'd been put in charge of stock now, happy as his boss was with his performance.
"What's all this?" Kurt paused, a deep blue swatch still clutched in his hands, getting crinkled in the tense grip.
"This is us." He spread his arms as though that explained it all. Putting the fabric on the sofa he walked steadily over to his boyfriend, his sweet, loving, ever supportive boyfriend and took his hands gently, looking right into his unguarded, questioning eyes.
"Move in with me?" The words were spoken quietly, but with a sense of determination Kurt always got when he really, really wanted something. Kurt wanted to leave no doubt about what he was asking or his commitment to either Blaine or their life together.
Blaine looked genuinely surprised, but his gaze didn't waver. Kurt thought he might have to yank his eyebrows out of his hair though.
"Are you sure, I mean with everything that's happened and we've not even been dating properly for a full year..." Kurt smiled serenely, he knew Blaine was giving him an out if he chose to take it.
"Considering the last 'almost' year and the fact that we've known each other for almost twelve years... Yeah I'm sure." Blaine's heart did a little dance, but still, he had to make sure.
"I just really don't want to screw this up again." His fear must have shown through his voice, because Kurt wrapped his arms around him tightly and his next words were whispered right by his ear.
"I trust you Blaine. I love you and I want to spend my life with you, obviously moving in would bring its own set of complications, ones we've faced before, but I think we've got this, don't you?" The question in Kurt's tone made Blaine want to kiss it right away, so he did. Yeah they’d got this.
**
An hour later and Blaine was being led around the apartment, Kurt showing him all the ideas he had to make it 'their' home rather than just 'his'. Blaine's possessions had made their way here over the course of his stay anyway.
"Kurt, I like it just as it is, you don't have to change anything." He looked fondly over the various fabrics and even rough sketched, knowing he'd lost before he'd begun.
"I want to, I want this to be our home, which means somewhere we both feel relaxed, comfortable but still somewhere we both have space, okay?"
"I get that, I just don't want you changing everything for... well, me." Kurt dropped the sketch he'd been holding and turned sharply to face Blaine.
"You already changed my life Blaine Anderson, for the better. And you are more than worth everything I could give you. Now, we can either do this together or I'll just paint everything that God awful mustard yellow you seem so fond of." Blaine laughed at that and agreed to take part... after food.
They ordered in, neither having the inclination to cook - or clean up afterwards, by the time they'd done, had a minor food fight and argued over the last spring roll it was nearly eleven and Kurt was suggesting an early night. Blaine's eyes lit up and he darted straight into the bedroom.
"Kuuuurt! The bed's awfully empty!" Kurt rolled his eyes and stood in the doorway nearly laughing out loud at the image in front of him. Blaine had face planted the bed, his limbs thrown out in every direction, taking up the entire bed.
"Really? Because it looks real full with my dork-ass boyfriend. From what I can see there's not even room for a mouse." Blaine grumbled in a muffled tone and rolled onto one side, propping his head up with his hand and looking Kurt up and down, a hint of mischief still in his smile.
"Look at that... just enough room for my sex-on-legs boyfriend, how about you come keep me company over here?" Kurt mumbled something about Blaine already having too much company, but pushed himself off the doorframe regardless and flopped down next to Blaine as though it were a chore. He fully expected Blaine to pounce on him, but instead Blaine rolled over, snuggling into the pillow and called out cheerily.
"Night Babe!"
Kurt grabbed Blaine by the shoulders, rolling him onto his back and pinned his arms above his head, taking care with the broken one.
"I'll Night Babe you in a minute!" He swooped down capturing Blaine's lips in a searing, his eyes fluttering closed as he let himself get lost in it.
Somehow, Blaine had regained control of his arms and was now awkwardly ridding Kurt of his red button down, Kurt couldn't protest though as Blaine caressed each bit of newly exposed skin with his fingers before pushing it clean off Kurt's broad, smooth shoulders. The expanse of creamy, freckled skin elicited a groan from Blaine and he laid Kurt back against the pillows so he could appreciate it fully - with his mouth and tongue. Kurt gasped, his hips jerking beneath Blaine momentarily. He latched onto Blaine's neck sucking a deep maroon bruise on the junction between neck and shoulder eagerly. He bit down gently before pulling away admiring his handiwork before looking up to find honey eyes gazing down at him, he smiled up at his boyfriend, a twinkle in his eyes.
"This isn't going to work with all these...layers...in the way." Blaine mumbled his agreement and quickly rid himself of his clothes, only to turn around and find Kurt's shoulders shaking with laughter. He raised one eyebrow and pounced on Kurt, tickling him into submission. Kurt was gasping for air.
"Blaine! God... Blaine stop!" Blaine only relented after Kurt was thrashing around the bed and his arm was protesting somewhat; they were both out of breath and laughing, their hearts lighter than they'd been in a long time. The mood shifted subtly to something inherently more serious, Blaine surged forward kissing Kurt for all he was worth his good hand slowly working Kurt out of his clothes until they were a needy, writhing, sweaty mess pressing together ever more desperately. At some point Kurt moved to get lube, but they never stopped touching. This, tonight, was more than just sex; it was them reconnecting as a couple. This was them taking the next step, becoming ever closer, letting their fragile hearts intertwine as one completely once again. Blaine took the lube from Kurt and spread some over his fingers, warming it up before trailing his hand down Kurt's torso, past his aching cock and teasing Kurt's hole gently before pushing a finger in past the tight ring of muscle. Kurt instantly relaxed under the familiar touch and held onto Blaine's biceps. Blaine let another finger join the first and reveled in the quiet moan that slipped from Kurt's lips. He watched as Kurt's eyes slid shut and he began moving himself down onto Blaine's fingers, Blaine took the hint and added a third finger, scissoring and twisting them when he reached Kurt's prostate and his boyfriend let out an obscenely loud groan.
"I'm ready, just please... I need you now Blaine." Kurt's voice had deepened the way that always set Blaine's veins on fire and he found he could do nothing more but nod as he coated his own cock with lube and hovered over Kurt. They locked eyes as Blaine pushed past the rim slowly and paused once he was fully sheathed in Kurt. He let his forehead drop to meet Kurt's and took a few steadying breaths, trying to calm the swirl of emotions coursing through him, it was only when Kurt raised his legs to wrap around Blaine's waist that he started to move. They kept the pace slower to begin with, just enjoying being together this way until Blaine brushed over Kurt's prostate again and Kurt yelped and dug his heels into Blaine's ass. Blaine's hips snapped beck before he drove back into Kurt hard and fast, not a word was spoken between them, all communication taking more physical forms.
Kurt ran his hands over Blaine's back, occasionally seeking support by planting them on his shoulders, he worshipped Blaine's face and neck with kisses and little nips to his ear lobes that resulted in the most delicious moans and the occasional muttered curse. Blaine lowered himself to lay fully on top of Kurt, taking some of the pressure of his good arm as he'd been using it to hold himself up, and slowed the pace a little, he buried his head in Kurt's long neck.
Despite the languid pace and Blaine's efforts to make this last as long as possible he could feel the heat coiling and by the way that Kurt's hands had shot out to grip the sheets tightly he took a guess that he wasn't the only one close. He pushed himself back up off Kurt and untangled Kurt's legs from his waist, instead carefully laying one over his shoulder and finding purchase on the bed by widening his legs before ramming back into Kurt. Kurt's lips fell open and an utterly broken "Shit Blaine" spurred him on. Kurt's arms wrapped around him once more, fingernails scratching lightly along the sweaty, over heated flesh and it was all they could do to just hang on.
"Faster, God, Blaine I'm..ah, so close." Blaine planted both hands on the wall behind Kurt's head and increased his thrusts until he could hear the bed protesting and the room was filled with Kurt's wanton moans. His face was a picture of pure concentration as he pounded into his boyfriend; until he felt Kurt's body tense up and he looked down to see the most beautiful expression of utter bliss take over Kurt's face as his come coated his own stomach. He backed off a little now, not wanting to hurt Kurt, but knowing how close he really was. Kurt seemed to come to his senses a little and just smiled up at Blaine, all it took was Kurt clutching their bodies together a little tighter and a couple more thrusts and soon Blaine was joining Kurt in blissful oblivion, his eyes clamping shut, not opening again until his hips had stopped stuttering uncontrollably.
Kurt rolled them to the side gently and felt Blaine slip out of him, he kissed Blaine's nose and went to get a cloth to clean them both up somewhat. When this was done, he joined a now very sleepy Blaine on the bed, pulling him onto his chest and threading his fingers through Blaine's curls tenderly. Blaine just snuggled in and slowly fell to sleep, Kurt knew he wouldn't be far behind and shifted so he was more comfortable. Just before his mind slipped away into a peaceful dreamland his last thoughts were how utterly right this felt.
