Kurt didn't know what was worse. Having Blaine in class, or not having him there.
Kurt's grades began their free fall whenever Blaine transferred into all of his classes. Yeah, all of them. Even gym. And weight room with Blaine gave him chills just thinking about it.
Getting distracted in gym didn't affect his grades, though. It was getting distracted in every other class that did it. Especially on days when Blaine didn't do his work and, instead, stared at Kurt the entire period. And this seemed to be most days.
But when Blaine wasn't there, it seemed to be just as bad, if not worse. Because all Kurt could think about was his boyfriend and what he might be doing if he was there. And if he didnt know the reason for his absence, he would worry about where Blaine was or if he was in trouble. Because with Blaine Anderson as your boyfriend, trouble was inevitable.
Just a few weeks earlier he had punched Puck, yes, Puck, as in Noah Puckerman. Kurt had thought his welcome back party would be fun and stress free. He had hoped that Blaine would warm up to the glee kids. But somehow he knew that wouldn't happen.
Kurt's thoughts were interrupted by a small buzzing in his pocket. He glanced up at the teacher to make sure that she wasn't looking. Mrs. Perry kept his nose inches away from her computer screen, completely engrossed in whatever she was looking at.
Kurt pulled his phone out and kept it under the table.
Where are you?
-Blaine
Kurt smiled to himself. He thought about a snarky reply, but decided against it.
Third period, what's up?
-Kurt
Kurt turned his phone on silent and waited for a reply.
Can you leave?
-Blaine
He looked around the room. He had finished his last exam of the year an hour ago and so had the other students. It was just a matter of waiting out the clock until winter break started.
Call you in five...
-Kurt
Kurt picked up his bag and made his way to the front of the class, "Mrs. Perry? I'm not feeling so-"
"Nurse," the teacher mumbled, keeping her face in the screen.
Kurt smiled to himself as he left the class room. He headed for the back exit of the school, where he always parked his car. He didn't usually skip school, but it was one of those days when he had spent most of his time worrying about Blaine. And yeah, he wanted to see his boyfriend.
As soon as he left the building, Kurt pressed the dialing phone to his ear. He listened to the long, drawn out beeps as he exited the parking lot.
"Kurt?" Blaine's voice finally broke the annoying beeping.
Kurt grinned and started for the Lima Bean, "Hey. The usual place?"
"No. Your house is empty, right?" Kurt heard rustling on the other line.
Kurt felt the confusion on his face, "Uh, yeah... Why my house?"
There was a long pause. Blaine sighed, "I'll explain when I get there."
"Okay..." Kurt made a left down his street, "See you in a few."
"Love you."
"Love you, too."
Kurt's heart fluttered in his chest as he hung up the phone and drove a little faster.
---
Kurt pulled into his driveway to find Blaine's rusted black ford already there. The owner of the truck stood with his back against the front door of the house, head down, arms crossed.
Kurt frowned as he got out of the car. Blaine kept his eyes downcast, despite Kurt saying his name when he walked up the driveway.
"Blaine? Why are you-" But Kurt stopped.
He was just a foot away now and could see the side of his boyfriend's face. A long cut crossed his jaw and had dried blood around it. His cheekbone wore a dark bruise, as did his forehead.
"Blaine..." Kurt whispered. He stepped toward the other boy and gently cupped his face.
Blaine finally looked up, revealing still more bruises and cuts. They locked eyes and he pulled Kurt forward, kissing him desperately.
Kurt kissed back, but knew the ugly truth behind it. Blaine only kissed like that, like he needed it more than air, when something was wrong.
"Blaine..." Kurt dug into his pocket and pulled out his keys.
He unlocked the door without breaking the kiss and slowly led Blaine down the stairs into his room. The two crashed onto the bed, Kurt pulling Blaine on top of him.
"You have to get out of there," Kurt breathed between kisses, "You can't stay in that place anymore."
Blaine moved down to Kurt's jaw, pressing kisses and sucking on skin.
"Come with me..." he murmured into Kurt's ear.
"What?"
"Let's get away for a few days. Just you and me."
Kurt's mind raced. Was he serious? He was probably just caught up in the moment. Still, a few days away with Blaine... Kurt nearly shuddered at the thought. But he knew it wasn't possible.
"My dad..." Kurt mumbled, closing his eyes and gripping Blaine's sculpted arms.
"We'll figure it out later."
Kurt waited a few minutes before replying, letting Blaine's mouth loose on his jaw, "We'd have to leave soon... Before I have too much time to actually think about it."
Blaine pulled away and proper himself up on his hands, "Now."
"Now?"
"Now."
Kurt could feel the concern and worry washing over his face. It was so sudden, so unplanned, so...
"Please?" Blaine leaned forward and pressed a light kiss to Kurt's lips before whispering, "Come with me."
It was so Blaine. All in, balls out. No planning. Impulsive. Sudden. And completely insane. But so, so Blaine.
Kurt sighed and covered his eyes with his arms, "Get my suitcase from the bottom of my closet. I'll start picking out clothes."
Kurt had never seen his boyfriend smile so big. And the smile broke his heart. Because, though it was beautiful and one of Kurt's favorite sights, it was surrounded by cuts and bruises.
Kurt smiled back and let the other boy pull him into a bone-crushing hug. He knew what the future would hold, what painful questions he'd have to ask. But for now, he was happy to enjoy the moment with the boy he loved.
