Author's Notes: First chapter, dears! Enjoy! This is my first attempt at a fanfic, so be kind.

Kurt Hummel loved New York. He loved the sounds, the people, the fashion, the Broadway shows. The city excited him in a way Lima never could. There was always something to do, something to discover; it was an added bonus that almost all the restaurants are open 24 hours a day, so he would never starve. He loved living with his two best friends, Rachel Berry and Santana Lopez.

Although Kurt and Santana weren't exactly the best of friends in high school, they were now; even more so than Rachel and Kurt. Santana found Kurt and Rachel after her messy break up with Brittany, and they've been inseperable ever since. They had more in common than Kurt had originally thought. There was one thing that they had in common that Kurt wished they didn't. Their messy break ups.

2 years, 3 months, and 23 days. That's how long it's been since Kurt has heard from Blaine. Leaving Lima, Blaine and Kurt agreed to keep things long distance. Things were great at first. Skyping every night, texting every moment, and phone calls at least once a day. They had even discussed Blaine's moving in with Kurt, Rachel, and Santana after Blaine graduated. After about two months, the phone calls became fewer. Blaine would ignore Kurt's texts. He abandoned skype all together after that, and rarely picked up his phone, eventually abandoning that, too. It's not that Kurt didn't try. He called everyone he knew back in Lima to try to find out what Blaine's problem was. Blaine had, in no better way to phrase it, fallen off the face of the earth. Nobody had seen or heard from him. Eventually, Blaine disconnected his phone. Kurt tried for months to reach him. Nothing. Kurt still hasn't given up. After these 2 years, 3 months, and 23 days, Kurt is still holding out hope.

--------------------------------

"Kurt, come out with us tonight!," Rachel begged. The three roommates were lounging around their small, yet fashionable living room (Kurt took over decorating the minute they finished moving in).

Kurt let out a small sigh. As much as he loved the nightlife in New York, he hated going out. He hated most things these days.

"Rachel, I'm not really up to it tonight. I think I'm going to just hang out in bed and watch sappy romance movies."

Santana rolled her eyes at Kurt. He shot her a, "I don't know what you're rolling your eyes about, but please stop" look.

"Listen, Hummel. You have been moping around this apartment for the past two years. I don't think you've gone out once. You best believe you're coming with us tonight. I don't care if I have to throw your skinny ass over my shoulder and drag you out. You're going to come out with us, get super shitty, dance a lot, and maybe meet a hot guy," Santana said, crossing her arms and glaring at Kurt.

He flinched at the last part. Rachel grabbed his hand softly.

"I know it's hard, Kurt. But you have to stop living in the past, and start living your life how it is now. You're young. We'll only ask you this once. If you have a terrible time, or feel uncomfortable in any way, you can leave at any time. Please, Kurt. Please just try to have some fun tonight, and get out of this apartment." Her brown eyes were fixed on Kurt's face, waiting for any type of reaction.

He was silent for a few moments, weighing his options. He finally agreed on going with the girls. He is in New York after all. Maybe a night out is exactly what he needed.

-------------------------------------

The club was insanely boring. The girls were dressed like complete whores, the guys were either straight, in a relationship, or just not even Kurt's type at all. He nursed a single drink the entire night. After being hit on countless times by creepy men, Kurt decided it was time for him to leave. He found Rachel and Santana downing shots at the bar.

"I'm really tired, guys. I think I'm just going to go home and go to sleep," he shouted at them.

The girls nodded, and continued on downing the rest of the shots they had lined up on the bar. Kurt sighed and rubbed his temples. The loud music was giving him a terrible migraine.

He pushed his way through the packed club and out into the cool New York air. He started walking home, hoping to clear his head of the thoughts of Blaine. He passed by an alleyway. A seemingly homeless man was leaning against the side of the building. Kurt walked past him, completely ignoring him. He wasn't in the mood for charity tonight. Right after he passed him, the voice he'd been hoping to hear for over 2 years rang in his ears.

"Kurt? K-Kurt, is that you? Kurt Hummel?" The voice was weak and scratchy.

Kurt turned on his heel and turned to face the man. Although he knew the voice, the appearance didn't suit him. The hair was unkempt. He was skinnier than normal. His facial hair had grown out, like he hadn't shaved in a few weeks. His cheeks were hollow, and there were bags under his eyes. Nevertheless, Kurt knew it was him. It was the man he had been looking for.

"Blaine?" Kurt's voice was barely more than a whisper. He walked slowly over to where Blaine was standing, his breath caught in his chest. He reached out and touched Blaine's rugged face. Kurt was dead. He knew it. There was no way that Blaine would be standing in front of him. Maybe he got hit by a cab or something when he left the club...or maybe somebody stabbed him in the club, or something. It didn't make sense.

Blaine put his hand over Blaine's and closed his eyes. The touch was so warm, so familiar. It made his heart hurt.

"Yeah, Kurt...it's me. I'm sor--can we--ugh." He took a deep breath. "Can we go somewhere and talk?"

Kurt stiffened. "Yeah, I think you have a lot of explaining to do, Anderson. We can go back to my place. I can't wait to hear your excuses."

He started walking back to his apartment with Blaine in tow while sending a text to both Santana and Rachel.

Please don't come home tonight. Go stay with Finn or somebody else. Ran into Blaine in the city, we're going back to the apartment to talk. Please, give us space. xoxo Kurt

It didn't take long for Rachel and Santana to reply back.

From: Rachel

OHMYGOD KURT please don't be too harsh with him. I'm sure there's a good explanation. Just got off the phone with Finn, you guys have the apartment to yourselves. Text me in the morning and let me know when it's safe to come home. <3<3<3 be strong.

From: Santana

Don't have sex in my room. Or on the couch. Or on any public surface, really. Seriously, though...good luck. Be honest with him. Now's not the time to hide your feelings, Hummel.

Kurt and Blaine reached the apartment. They went in, and Kurt set his keys down on the bookshelf next to the door. He made his way to the couch and sat down. Blaine looked uncomfortable. He didn't attempt sitting down; he just stood there, awkwardly. Kurt caught his eye and tilted his head to the edge of the couch he was on, motioning Blaine to sit down. Blaine nodded slightly and made his way to the opposite side of the couch, not even attempting to sit close to Kurt.

Kurt hated him. Or, he wanted to hate him, at least. He studied Blaine's face. The facial hair suited him, and brought out his chiseled facial features even more. His unkempt curls were wild, yet Kurt wanted nothing more than to brush his fingers through them. He wasn't as skinny as Kurt originally thought. Leaner, yes, but his muscles seemed to have been more defined. Kurt's heart ached just staring at him. He cleared his throat, ignoring the desire building up in the pit of his stomach.

"Okay, Blaine. You wanted to talk. Talk. Save the bullshit, though. I've waited for over two years to hear this excuse, so it better be good."

Blaine shifted uncomfortably before taking a deep breath.

"Kurt...first off, I wanted to apologize. For everything. For disappearing, for ignoring your calls...everything. You didn't deserve any of that, not even the slightest bit. That was all my fault. After you left, and we tried doing the long distance thing...it just wasn't the same. You were so strong, Kurt. And I don't know how you did it. I was dying inside. I needed to hold you, to kiss you. To feel you. Everything was so upside-down. Everything reminded me of you. I had to drop out of McKinley and finish school up online, because every hallway, every classroom...they all had memories, and I could just feel you there. I died a little more every day, until there was nothing left. That's when I changed my number. Hearing your voice every day just made things so much worse. It was a constant reminder of how much I missed you, and how I wasn't myself when I was around you. You were, and still are, my everything, Kurt." Blaine paused for a deep breath.

Anger and hurt began rising up in Kurt's stomach. He let Blaine continue.

"There is absolutely no excuse for why I avoided you these past two years. If it's any consellation, it was hard for me, too. I made people swear not to tell you they saw me, because I thought you were living with a boyfriend, not Rachel and Santana. A few days ago, I came up to the city, hoping to maybe run into you, because I missed you so much. Now, don't get mad at what I'm about to tell you...but...I ran into Finn. We got to talking, and he told me where you were living, who you were living with, how you were doing...everything. And he told me you were miserable. I knew I needed to fix it, so I gave him my number and told him that he needed to get you to accidentally meet me somewhere, so I could see you." He sighed and was silent for a few moments.

"I really fucked up, baby. I know I did. But I'm trying to fix it now. I'm trying to fix myself. I'm trying to make things better. I don't expect you to forgive me for a long, long time...but I would like a chance to try to make things right with us again."

Blaine looked up at Kurt with those golden orbs, and Kurt almost forgot how angry he was with Blaine. Almost.

Kurt's voice came out dangerously low and quiet.

"Blaine, I've looked for you for two years. Nobody would tell me where to find you. You changed your number. I just...I can't even look at you right now. Did my love mean anything to you? It took a lot of nerve to find me tonight, Blaine. To pull what you pulled. I'm fucking pissed. No, I'm not going to forgive you tonight, and I probably never will. I want to hate you so badly, but I just can't. I fucking can't."

Kurt and Blaine moved simultaneously, their lips crushing against each other's in an angry, needy kiss.

End Notes: I know this was SO LONG, and I'm so, so sorry! More will definitely be written. I'm going to update this as often as possible, because lord knows everyone hates waiting!
