Click. Click. Click.
What's this deafening noise?! Hmpf, I'm just going to ignore it, I have been up all night and bought the jacket of my dreams at that late night auction for a fantastic price and I really need to get my beauty sleep now.
Kurt turns to his other side and closes his eyes again.
Click. Click.
Damn!
He angrily cracks his eyes open again and swings his legs out of the bed. Grumbling he gets up and scuffles to the window where the noise seems to come from. He drags the curtains aside and peeks out of the window.
Silent.
He sighs relieved and walks back to his bed.
Click. A pebble hits the window glass.
What the...?!
Really furious now Kurt yanks the window open, ready to scream at whom ever dares to disturb him in the early morning, as he spots someone bent over the ground and apparently searching for more pebbles beneath his window. The stranger sticks his really nice ass towards him and as he spots the belonging familiar head his anger fades away. His stomach swoops with excitement at Blaine's sight.
"Blaine! What are you doing?"
"Oh, Kurt, hey." Blaine lifts his head, drops the pebbles and smiles at him. "I wanted to steal you away for the day, since we haven't really seen each other during the week."
"And why don't you just ring at the door like every normal person?"
Blaine shifts from one foot to the other and looks bashfully at the ground.
"I kinda don't want to encounter your dad, since we last saw us when you were covered in chocolate and I blurted out something very ambiguous. He must have a very bad impression of me. But I really wanted to see you again and we haven't get around to exchange numbers yet, so..",Blaine drops on his knees, spreads his arms out and speaks with a poetic voice:
"The hunky and very besotted sapling from next door,
decides not to chicken out anymore,
and throws pebbles against the boy's windows who lives on the 2nd floor."
He goes on in his normal voice:"I'm just happy that I didn't hit you in the face with one..."
Kurt laughs out loud. "Hunky, huh? Alright you lovestoned sapling, give me 10 minutes to get ready and to grab something for breakfast."
"Okay I'll wait down here and perhaps hide behind a bush if your father spots me, but you don't need to have lunch, I have prepared a picnic for us."
Lunch? It's still so early. Kurt rubs the sleep out of his eyes and glances at the clock on his bedside table, it's already 2 p.m. The auction must have taken much longer than midnight and he slept till afternoon. He throws on an outfit and manages to get his hair to look like the bed head styling would be on purpose. He runs downstairs and opens the door where Blaine patiently waits for him. Kurt admits to himself that he really missed him (gosh they know eachother just for a couple of days, 8 to be exact not that he'd been counting, but Blaine manages to turn his knees into jelly every time he looks or smiles at him.) He takes a deep breath and closes the door behind him.
"Okay I'm ready. So where are you going to take me?"
"Well, like I said I prepared a picnic and I thought we could make an unusually cycling tour to one of my favourite places around here."
Blaine walks through the fence door and returns with a bike that has a huge basket strapped at his rack. But it wasn't just a bike it was a pink tandem bicycle.
"My goodness, Blaine where did you get that from? Pink seriously? Isn't that a little bit too gay?", Kurt giggles.
"Oh well, I have my secret ironic-gay-stuff-dealer but pink is just as nice as every other colour" he laughs, "but will you admire it from the distance or are we going to hit the road?"
"I'm not sure if we're going to hit the road or kiss the asphalt, but let's try."
Just to climb on the tandem was very hard but to take off was another story. They nearly fell three times until they manage to bring it in motion. But it's fun and they laugh all the time while they slowly but steadily make their way to the meadow that Blaine has chosen for their picnic. Kurt is sure that they must have lost half of the food on their way because they swerve about constantly and the hidden paths and dirt roads they take while Blaine guides them doesn't make it easier, but somehow they manage to arrive at their destination.
It was a picturesquely situated big flowery untouched meadow. Daisies sprinkle the lonely green land, the grass wasn't mowed and at some places it was so high that you would be invisible if you'd lay down. Somewhere must be a little brook cause you can hear water softly babbling and ducks quacking in the distance, near a cluster of trees.
"Wow, Blaine, it's absolutely beautiful. How did you find such a place?"
"My brother and I used to comb through the region as kids and one day we went too far away from home and couldn't find the way back as we discovered this place by accident. It's so hard to find that rarely people come here and the nature stays untouched."
They unpack the picnic basket and spread out the large blanket Blaine has brought. The high grass that surrounded them make them feel like they'd be in their private hideaway, it was very nice. Kurt lies down on his side and props his head up on his hand and watches Blaine. He seems to enjoy it too because he has spread out on the blanket and lies on his back with closed eyes and a big content smile on his face. The sun dances over bronze glimmering skin. He notices that Kurt is watching him and blinks an hazel eye open.
"Hey there." Blaine smiles and approaches to Kurt.
They smile at each other and Kurt thinks that he could stare in Blaine's deep honey brown eyes forever. Blaine turns on his side to face Kurt and lays his hand on his waist. It's warm and Kurt's skin burns at the spot, the heat takes over his whole body. It's like Blaine would set him on fire. Their faces are inches apart and Kurt can feel Blaine's breath tickling his face. He closes his eyes and their lips lock. He hums against Blaine's lips. With a sudden rush of braveness he breaks the kiss and pushes at Blaine's shoulder so that he lies on his back again. Blaine looks shocked at him.
"Oh god, Kurt I'm sorry. I thought y..."
Kurt rolls on Blaine's torso and interrupts him with a passionate kiss. Blaine squeaks in surprise but welcomes the unexpected turn. Kurt wants to try something new know that he has the surprise effect on his side. He takes Blaine's lower lip between his teeth and carefully nibbles at it. Blaine seems to like it because he grabs him around his waist and wiggles with his legs so that Kurt is now completely on top of him and presses him even closer to his body.
"Just wanted to improve the angle", Kurt says as they break away to catch their breaths.
"You just surprised me a little bit with your fierceness but I liked it and I'll follow your lead", Blaine answers and switches their positions again so that he is now lying on top of Kurt. Kurt giggles and leans in to get more of Blaine's delicious lips. Suddenly his stomach rumbles loudly, seems like he dosen't agree with living just from Blaine's taste.
Blaine chuckles and drops his head on Kurt's chest.
"I guess we should enjoy our lunch first before we go on, seems like someone's pretty hungry", Blaine proposes and places a light kiss on Kurt's collarbone.
"Yeah, you're right but we will definetly skip the desert to come back to this faster. "
They unpacked the food that Blaine brought along. He made huge efforts and everything looks delicious. But though the blanket was barely big enough for all the food Blaine still doesn't look happy and rumages around in the basket.
"I'm sure I brought a cake along but I can't find it. I wanted to show you that I learned something at your backing course."
"Maybe we've dropped it during our adventurous tandem ride. Don't worry about it we have enough food and it looks fantastic." Secretly Kurt was glad that the cake dissapeared. He doesn't think that Blaine's backing skills improved that much since he remembers from their course only the chocolaty taste of Blaine's lips.
So they start eating without the cake. Kurt was starving and shovels a big pile of the different salads and sandwiches on his plate so he doesn't notices that Blaine isn't sitting next to him anymore.
"Kurt, look! Aren't they sweet and they seem to be handtame. The big one really enjoys my tuna sandwich. "
Kurt turns around and sees Blaine squating in the grass nearby their blanket and feeding two swans. A memory from his childhood flashes through his mind. His dad and he were on a camping weekend that included a canoe trip because Burt meant to teach his son the basic survival capabilities. But Kurt wasn't very interested in paddling so his dad took over the most physical efforts. They were in the middle of a river and Kurt had just unpacked a sandwich as he spoted a swan fastly making their way towards them. He was fascinated by the animal and like every child he reached out to touch it. His father tried to warn him but it was too late the swan paddled in an enormous tempo towards their canoe and jumped in it to snap Kurt's sandwich. Kurt screamed and the boat sheaked heavily. He let go of the sandwich but the swan was very aggressive and ripped his t-shirt apart like he would find underneath any more food. Finally Burt clobbed the swan with the paddle on his head and he got off but they still landed in the water and Kurt's t-shirt was ruined like his anyway never big passion for canoeing. Since then he hated those sly beasts so he wasn't very happy to see them.
"Blaine stay away from them, please come back."
"But look at those graceful animals. Wait, are you afraid of them? They are harmeless!"
In that very moment one of the swans bites in Blaine's hand.
"Ouch! Hey!"
"See! I told you now leave them alone before they seriously hurt you!"
"Nah! They just like me and want my attention back."
But as Blaine turns back to them both have dangerously raised their wings and come cackling towards him. Kurt uncomfortably slides backwards on the blanket. Blaine is alarmed now too and walks backwards always keeping sight of them.
"Okay maybe you we're right Kurt, they look kind of pissed, oh my god and now they're running extremly fast! Run Kurt!"
That he mustn't been told twice, Kurt jumps up and shoves the last bite of his sandwich in his mouth because seriously he hasn't eaten anything today and runs after Blaine who has out distanced him in the meanwhile.
They head towards the cluster of trees with the quacking swans still being in their tail.
"Where are we going?" Kurt asks in panic and out of breath.
"I think I saw an old treehouse over there. We could climb up and maybe they won't follow us."
They reach the old and unstable looking treehouse. It has no ladder or at least no trustworthy one but Blaine effortlessly climbs up the tree and sits on the edge of the treehouse and holds his hand out for Kurt.
"Don't you think it will collapse?"
But his fear of the swans is stronger than his fear to be buried alive in a blank pile, so he takes Blaine's strong hand and he pulls him up. Panting they press theirselves against the tree trank. The swans reach the treehouse and look in wonderment up but they seem to decide that the humans aren't dangerous anymore and one of them trots back to their picnic blanket to look after the food they left behind. The other just sits down and turns his head upwards at times like he would be on guard.
"I can't believe this just happened." Kurt sits down and leans against the tree tank.
"Who could know they're so aggressive! I guess my tuna sandwich drove them crazy 'cause it was so damn delicious! A persecution absolutely wasn't part of my romantic-picnic-with-Kurt-plan." Resigned Blaine sits down too. Kurt giggles and pats Blaine's back.
"It's not your fault. Also we definetely have a story to tell though I guess nobody will believe us."
They sit silently next to eachother for a while both watching the swan beneath them that looks like it doesn't think about making off soon. Kurt yawns and drops his head on Blaine's shoulder.
"Looks like we're stuck up here for a while."
He turns his head to look up to Blaine who warmly smiles at him and places his arm around Kurt. Kurt snuggles closer too him. He has been up all night and Blaine's arms were so comfortable. He's going to close his eyes only for a second...
Meanwhile in the Anderson's kitchen.
"Such a clever idea to steal Blaine's cake from his basket it looks delicious."
Cooper cuts himself a big piece of cake and sits down at the kitchen table. He takes it in his hand (who needs plates or forks you must clean them later anyway?)
Cooper licks his lips, takes a big bite and immideately spits it out.
"Ugh! It's rock-hard! I should have known it. In a backing course were lesson number 1 is <Kiss the chef> you can't learn anything about backing.“
He throws the cake in the garbage can and leans thoughtfully against the kitchen counter.
"But why do I have that feeling that someone took my job and disturbed their picnic date without my assistance? Or at least not my intentional?"
He looks so adorable. A strand of his hair he styled so perfectly this afternoon falls constantly back in his face as he blows it up everytime he breaths out. His head has dropped from Blaine's shoulder to his chest and he hugs him around his waist while his legs found their way in Blaine's lap.
Blaine slowly strokes the hair out of Kurt's face. He fell fastly asleep after they snuggled up to eachother and Blaine doesn't mind having him tight in his arms and just lying there with him. Not that he's a creep who watches other people sleep but Kurt looks so peaceful and he doesn't want to wake him.
Kurt smiles in his sleep appareantly he dreams something nice. Blaine lets his mind wander again. It's not like he hasn't had crushes before but this time it's different. They don't know eachother for long but he really wants to make it right with Kurt. And Blaine can feel the three magic words sparkling on his tongue every time Kurt smiles at him or holds his hand but he's afraid he rushes things and Kurt doesn't feel as strong about him as he does. You can't fall in love with a person after such a short time, right?
He feels Kurt shifting next to him. Blaine lifts his head from Kurt's hair where he had placed it. He smells wonderful like a mix of rasberry, sea breeze and just like Kurt.
Kurt blinks one bright blue eye open and looks sleepily at him.
"Hi sleapyhead", Blaine greets him.
Kurt lifts himself up and blushes because of how curled up in Blaine he was.
"Oh my god, I must have crushed you. How long did I sleep?"
"Not for long but I didn't want to wake you, you looked like you could use some sleep."
Kurt streches and gets on his knees to look down over the edge of the treehouse. The swan is thankfully gone.
"The second one left an hour ago and joined his friend at the picnic buffet. They also seem to build a nest around our tandem, I think now is our only chance to escape while they're busy. I'm going to get the bike tomorrow."
Kurt laughs and they both get up. He really loves Kurt's laugh, his hole face scrunches up and his eyes seem to shine even brighter, Blaine is very happy that he causes that reaction in him.
They climb down the tree, Blaine completely gentlemen, goes first and reaches out to half lift Kurt off the treehouse.
They tiptoed to the path that leads them home as one of the swans turns their head around and quackles alarmed. Kurt grasps Blaine's hand and together they run down the little path laughing till the meadow was out of sight.
The way was pretty long without the bike and the dusk is falling. Kurt walks more and more slower.
"You know I always hated hiking. When do we arrive?"
Blaine knows it's only a five minutes walk so he jogs to Kurt who gives him a questioning look and he grabs him around his legs and lifts him up so that Kurt's upper body hangs over his right shoulder.
Kurt gasps surprised and tries to steady himself by clutching at Blaine's t-shirt.
"Help! Blaine! What are you doing?!"
"You said you can't walk anymore so I'm going to carry you home."
"I think all my blood is runnning in my head and I'll arrive unconscious at home."
"Oops, haven't thought about that, so we need to change the style of carrying though I liked at this option the perfect view of your ass."
"Me too", Kurt answers and smacks Blaine's ass.
Blaine wiggles it and drops Kurt back on the ground and reaches out backwards to give him a piggyback ride.
"C'mon!"
"You're so silly", Kurt laughs out loud but puts his arms around Blaine's neck and Blaine grabs his thighs to lift him up. Blaine tumbles a little bit at first but soon he balances himself and walks down the way.
"So how is it up there?"
"Actually I didn't know you're so strong," Kurt's mouth is directly at his ear now," and it's very attractive."
Blaine's knees give in for a second and he nearly drops Kurt as he gasps and his ears turn read.
"Oh god Kurt do you want me to drop you?"
"Maybe I'm just testing how much I can distract you." He smirks playfully and begins to cover Blaine's neck with kisses. Blaine groans and is glad that their houses are within sight because he isn't sure how long he will stand this sweet torment. As they reach Kurt's front door Blaine is sure his neck is covered in several hickeys as intensive as Kurt sucked at his skin. He lets go of Kurt's legs and presses him against the door frame ready to pay him back the torture he caused him. Suddenly the door is yanked open and they both fall into Burt. Kurt jumps aside and stares at his father in shock.
"Oh my god dad! What are you doing here?"
Blaine whines and hides behind Kurt mostly to cover the thing that had grown in his pants since Kurt started to use his talented tongue to swirl over his skin but also because his actual plan was to improve his relationship with Kurt's father and not to stumble into the next embarrassing situation with him.
"Kurt there you are! I worried about you, you haven't left a note and I hadn't a clue where you are but I guess now I understand why you were busy or more precisely whom you were busy with."
He sternly looks at Blaine but his eyes give away that he's rather amused about the situation and enjoys to tease them a little bit. "Hello Blaine nice to see you again."
"Good evening Mr. Hummel." Blaine answers sheepishly his cheeks burning red "I should have informed you that Kurt is with me, I apologize."
"Just let me know when you take my son out next time." Burt answers as his gaze wanders to Blaine's neck where meanwhile some purple hickeys sign off on his skin.
"Kurt," he eyes his son who looks anywhere but at his dad clearly emberrassed that they got caught in such a situation,"we will talk about this later. But for now, good night Blaine and give your parents my regards." Burt walks back in.
Blaine drops his head and sighs. "So much for making a better impression."
"I'm sorry how this turned out Blaine but I still enjoyed our day very much." Kurt brushes a light kiss over his lips and Blaine closes his eyes to respond it. It didn't got to passionatly both boys were totaly aware of Burt keeping an eye of them from behind but it still shows so much emotions and how much they care about eachother. And if any of them would have opened their eyes in that moment, they would have find a far from angry Burt leaning in the door frame, more a dad who is glad for his sons happiness. But he is also Kurt's DAD so he clears his throat loudly before the boys take a little bit too much delight in their doing.
Comments
I absolutely loved this chapter. Blaine is the sweetest and although the date didn't go as planned it was fun to see them enjoy themselves and really act like kids. It is great to see them be carefree and in love. Burt and Cooper were also hilarious in this chapter. Who knew swans could be devious and scary. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
You played a huge part in helping me to get over my damn writer's block. It's something different to see the read count go up and actually see the readers thoughts. I was so happy that you reviewd again it gave me kind of a motivation boost and new inspiration :D so thank you very much I'd really love to bake you a huuuuuuuge cake<3 (Also I love that your reviews are always so in detail and I hope you haven't given up on this story just because the dumb author is super slow)
the swan situation was hilarious! so was when burt caught them! and when cooper took a bite if the cake.
