"Can we go to Lima Beans to talk?" Blaine felts his heart stutter at Kurt's question; he really does wanna talk to me, he's giving me another chance, Blaine thought excitedly.
"Yes," Blaine replied quickly, "yeah sure."
"Wait here for a minute, I'll go give Finn my car keys and come back?" Kurt questioned, as if waiting for Blaine to tell him if it's okay for him to go or not.
"Sure." Blaine said smiling a bit at Kurt's questioning manner.
During their drive, Kurt felt so nervous afraid of what Blaine might do to him again, but he was surprised when he found Blaine stealing glances at him as he smiled and sang along to Katy's "Birthday".
Kurt was so confused by Blaine's 180 degrees change in mannerism and he felt as if it's all a trap.
As they arrived to Lima Beans, Blaine told Kurt to go and sit at one of the tables while he orders drinks for both of them. Kurt refused at first saying that he needed to pay for his own drink, but when Blaine insisted he let it slide.
"One non-fat mocha latte for one Mister Hummel," Blaine smiled as he set the drink in front of Kurt.
"So now you think you can get me by acting all dapper?" Kurt couldn't help but snap.
Blaine's face fell and lost it's colour, "what do you mean?" he whispered.
"I mean that when you found that acting like a sick asshole won't get me to be your 'slave', you decided that going all dapper at me would make me fall for you. If you think that I am stupid then you're wrong. I am not some airy headed teenager, who'll you get to fall on his knees for you sweet words. Sorry but this is not me."
Blaine just stared at him speechless, if Kurt had spoken these words to him two weeks ago, he'd be totally right and Blaine would probably laugh at the boy. However, now everything changed and Blaine was trying so hard to change himself and become a better person. The person his sweet Kurt deserves. He knows things are somewhat hard and that he slips sometimes but he's trying not to slip in front of Kurt, he's trying to be a better person for Kurt.
"I-I'm not trying anything, Kurt. I really am not!" Blaine wanted to grab Kurt's hands to reassure the blue eyed boy, but knew that Kurt is not ready for physical contact from him yet, "I am really trying; trying really really hard Kurt to be good to you. I know now that what I've done before to you was wrong; I exposed you to things you weren't ready for. I let my father's beliefs control my mind and I didn't even try and read more about soulmates or dom/subs relationships. I know I am a horrible, illiterate soulmate and that you deserve a better person than me.." Blaine's voice cracked as he felt tears coming down his face, "but, Kurt, I feel something for you and even when I was; when I was deluded I knew that I didn't want to lose you and that if you just give me a second chance I'd like to prove to you that I am trying to be a better person for you, please."
Kurt looked at Blaine in shock, he didn't know how to reply, what to say to Blaine. He tried to think of something; to tell himself that it's just a game that Blaine is playing, but the look on Blaine's face and the tears in the older man's eyes did steer something in Kurt's chest. His breathing became more labored as he felt his eyes tearing up a bit, he wanted to give Blaine his chance but at the same time his mind was telling him that he needing to protect himself, that he must protect himself.
"I will give you another just, but that's just it you fail this time and I am out Blaine. I don't want to have a soulmate if having him means that I get to be treated like shit." Kurt said seriously, looking Blaine in the eyes.
"That's all I'm asking for! Believe me I'll do my best to be a good dom to you and I'll protect you from any harm, Kurt, even if I am the one who's cause you this harm; I'd protect you from myself," Blaine said and looked around smiling a bit, "these two are eavesdropping on us, you think we're causing a scene?" Kurt laughed at that and it was the most adorable thing Blaine ever heard.
"I think we are, let's stop crying and drink our cold drinks cause I need to go home early cause our literature teacher gave us loads of homework to do," Kurt smiled.
"Oh poor boy, this teacher must suck," Blaine laughed and winked at Kurt; who blushed and quickly took a sip from his now cold mocha.
As Blaine drove Kurt home, the pair felt more at ease together and both sang along to the songs playing on the radio. When they arrived to the Hudson-Hummel household and before Kurt got out of the car, he spoke softly.
"I know that our talk today eased things a bit and that I am ready to get to know you better, Blaine, but can we...can we take things slow?" Kurt was thankful that it was dark so Blaine wouldn't be able to see his blush.
"Of course, Kurt, as much as I long to be with you, I know that you're not ready for this. We'd take things slow, go on dates and see where we get from there." For the second time that night, Blaine felt the need to hold Kurt's hands in his and to kiss them softly but he stopped himself and just resigned to smile softly at the boy.
"Thank you so much," Kurt replied shyly, "see you tomorrow," the chestnut boy said before stepping out of the car.
Blaine watched as Kurt got into his house and smiled before saying, "see you tomorrow, Kurt."
