💬BURTHUMMEL Are you a friend of Kurt's ChandlerDarling?
💬ChandlerDarling I'd like to think we're more than that. Who are you?
💬BURTHUMMEL I'm his dad.
“Do you have everything?”
“Yes dad,”
“And don't forget to call me when you start your classes,”
“I'll call you every day, classes are not till February anyway, just so you don't worry,”
“I'm not worried Kurt,”
“Yes you are honey,”
“Carole, whose side are you on?”
“You'll be home for Christmas right?”
“Of course dad,”
“Make sure you invite Blaine over!”
“I will Carole,”
“Is Blaine your boyfriend?”
“No Finn,”
“Do you need this many clothes?”
“Yes dad, you know I can't part with them,”
“Make sure you eat,”
“I will dad. I will even Instagram it if you like; I'll do a selfie of Blaine forcing food down my throat with a napkin on,”
His dad didn't laugh. Burt was so serious Kurt felt bad for the last comment; he knew his dad was still adjusting to everything that happened.
Carole was fussing with Finn in the background making sure they had all his things packed away in the wardrobe, Finn was complaining about the many clothes, after Carole argued him not to crease his clothes, as they were all in his boarding room before they said their goodbyes. “I'll be fine dad, can you at least attempt to laugh at my jokes?”
Burt was looking around at his room. Kurt could sense what he was thinking ‘this isn't at all like Kurt's décor,'
To his surprise Burt didn't laugh but a tear fell out of his eye. He has never witnessed his dad crying. Ever, till now.
“Dad, you know I'll be happy here, it'll be fine,” Kurt immediately embraced his father who hugged him tightly. “I'm going to miss you kid, I just want you safe,”
“I will be,” Kurt insisted.
Turns out Blaine was boarding at Dalton too, and when he finally called Kurt asking how he was doing, Kurt told him about the wedding incident with Karofsky and the threat, he was more scared than he let his parents know.
“Please don't go back to that school Kurt, it's not safe,”
“What should I do?”
“Come here,”
He talked about how he was thinking of enrolling at Dalton for sure, even thinking about boarding, at which Blaine insisted that Kurt be his roommate, out of the blue mentioning how that was a great idea as he was boarding too.
“It'll cost less for you too Kurt,” Blaine had been saying as he was doing his moisturising routine.
“I don't know… do you think my dad will be okay with two gay guys boarding together?”
“Right because I'm definitely going to jump you, and give you a blow job when you're asleep”
Kurt flushed even though Blaine can't see him.
“I'm kidding!”
Geez was it hot or just Kurt? Maybe he should open the window. “Kurt you there?”
“I'm here,”
“Look, if you're honestly worried about your dad, I'll talk to him, and charm him, so that he'll want to pretty much throw you into my room,”
“What a gentleman,” Kurt said sassily as Blaine laughed “It'd be so nice to get to know you Kurt, and don't worry I won't be a pervert,”
“I'd like that a lot,” Kurt said as he sat there but then thought how he wouldn't mind Blaine jumping him and Blaine hummed in agreement.
Next thing he knew it was 1 o clock “Is it really this late?” There was another confirming noise that Blaine had heard through his humming and then a pleasant sigh from the other boy “It appears so,”
Kurt yawned. Blaine laughed “I better go, goodnight Kurt,”
“Goodnight Blaine…”
Kurt bit his lip before adding “Sweet dreams,”
Kurt talked to his dad, and they both went to check it out and agreed it was perfectly safe, very nicely decorated and the people in Dalton were amazing and as promised Blaine charmed Burt to the point of wanting to adopt him as a third son. Mercedes however appeared to be distance, and he felt bad for leaving her behind.
The school was happy to provide another bed for Kurt, and because of what happened they also offered him some cut off on his fee, as apparently Sue had contacted the school to let them know of the bullying and how she hoped they see to it, that he got a nice welcome. Kurt wondered if she threatened them.
“It's just… it's always been you and me you know kiddo? I'm not even sure what to think of all this,”
“I know I'll be happy here dad, and I know Carole and Finn both love you, and you'll still have me weekands. I'll come visit,”
“You better,” Burt warned with a pointed finger as Kurt laughed and hugged him tightly. Finally Carole gave him a big gentle because of his bruising but still warm hug “You take care sweetheart. I packed you some food in the fridge incase you get hungry,”
Another pros of boarding, he had his own mini-fridge in the room.
“Dalton has a cafeteria, and cafe,” Kurt assured her “But thank you Carole,”
Carole started asking almost the same questions as Burt while Finn stood there shifting on his feet awkwardly. After she let go of Kurt, Kurt turned to Finn. “Goodbye Finn,”
Finn nodded. At first Kurt was disappointed but then Finn grinned and opened his arms to him.
“Come here little bro,”
Kurt laughed as he went into his step brother's embrace “For the last time Finn, I'm older than you!” Kurt rolled his eyes. Blaine knocked on the door. Burt opened it to a boy nicely groomed with a wide smile and glancing at Kurt quickly before looking back at Burt “Hope I'm not interrupting, my class finished and I wanted to make sure Kurt's all settled,”
“Come in!” Carole urged and Burt slightly grunted his approval. Blaine without hesitation went to Kurt “How are you?”
Kurt smiled back at him “I'm good, yourself?”
“I'm grand,”
Kurt chuckled “You've been watching too many rom cons,”
“I think we better go,” Burt said then and they gave their final goodbyes and left the two boys alone.
“I think this calls for a selfie roomy,” Blaine winked.
Kurt laughed “I guess so,”
