Kurt looked over at the curly haired boy. He saw nerves in the brown eyes. Kurt himself started to feel nervous. In front of him stood Blaine Anderson, the boy he had been thinking about during all of high school. He knew Blaine was younger than him and far more accomplished, but Kurt had always been attracted to the boy.
“What’s up?” Kurt asked.
“I moved here from Italy with my parents about five years ago,” Blaine started. He looked into Kurt’s eyes. “In one month, it will be officially five years.”
“Okay…?” Kurt said following along. He didn’t understand what Blaine was getting at.
“Well, because my father is a diplomat, we were granted temporary citizenship, but now dad is back home. I decided to stay here when I turned eighteen but I never took the citizenship test,” Blaine explained further.
Something clicked in Kurt’s mind. “You’re going to be deported.”
“Yes. Unless…” Blaine trailed off.
“Unless?”
“I could marry a citizen and gain citizenship that way,” Blaine stated. He tried to say it with no pressure but Kurt knew the point of their meeting.
“Oh my God. You didn’t accidentally bump into me did you? This was all a ploy!” Kurt said. He didn’t know whether to feel hurt, frustrated, or touched. After all, Blaine could’ve picked anyone but chose him. No he argued with himself. This is not flattering.
“Please, Kurt. Give me a moment to explain,” Blaine said. He placed a hand on Kurt’s arm.
Kurt looked down at the hand on his arm and just looked at Blaine with a blank expression. So many things were going through his head. Finally Kurt nodded. The least he could do was hear Blaine out.
“Yesterday, I saw you leaving. When our eyes met, I felt something. I wanted to take you out to see if there really was something between us,” Blaine started.
“And?” Kurt asked, somewhat breathlessly.
“I like you Kurt. I think we would work well together. We would have to be very close, and make it look like we’re in love. I know I am asking a lot of you, and we only met a few hours ago.”
Kurt huffed out a laugh. “So, we wouldn’t be in any type of relationship for real?”
“No. Think of it like a business deal,” Blaine said. It wasn’t that he didn’t find Kurt attractive, because he really did! Blaine just didn’t want to complicate their possible marriage with a relationship. Blaine laughed at this ordeal in his head. He wanted to get married but he was too apprehensive to start relationship with his potential husband for fear of it not working out.
“A business deal is always beneficial to both involved, Blaine,” Kurt said. He was frustrated now. Did Blaine think he could just pick him to play his husband and forget the rest of his life? “How would I benefit?”
“Well, I could help you out with those college loans. You wouldn’t have to work for as long as we’re married and could use that time to try out for Broadway parts, or whatever you’d like to do.”
Damn. That sounded like a dream job. “How long would we be married?”
“I don’t know,” Blaine answered thoughtfully. “At least a year, because we need it to look real. Longer would be better but we could discuss it further if things aren’t going well.”
Kurt looked skeptical. “What about our families?”
“Well, we have one month until we have to get married. I was thinking maybe I could meet your family. We’ll tell them that we’ve been seeing eachother for awhile but kept it quiet because of my public profile.”
“Oh. Great. We will just lie to everyone I care about,” Kurt huffed sarcastically.
“Kurt, you don’t have to agree,” Blaine said. One of his hands was still on Kurt’s arm, he moved the other to sit on top of Kurt’s hand. They were leaning on a railing overlooking the city. Kurt looked into Blaine’s eyes. He saw nerves still, but also sincerity and...hope? “It is a lot to ask. I don’t want you to feel pressured.”
“Let’s pretend I said yes. What happens in the next month?” Kurt inquired.
“Well, I would take time off to go meet your family. Then it would be public outings. A public proposal. A quick wedding. Then we would go on a honeymoon and come back. You would move in with me and I would come back to work.”
Kurt hummed, thinking over everything Blaine had said while watching the lights dance across the city across from them. “I don’t want my dad to know it is fake.”
“Kurt,” Blaine said smiling lightly. “No one can know it is fake.”
Kurt looked back at Blaine. “I guess that is true.”
“So?” Blaine asked.
“Can I take some time to think about it?” Kurt asked.
“Of course. Not too long, because if it doesn’t work out then I’ll need to find someone else.”
Kurt nodded and shiver went down his spine from the cold. Blaine wordlessly took off his coat and put it around Kurt’s shoulder. Neither boys noticed the camera going off in the distance. “No matter what your decision is, I still really enjoyed spending time with you tonight,” Blaine whispered and kissed Kurt’s cheek. Kurt blushed and the two walked back to the parking garage outside of the office building. “Can I drive you home?”
“Oh no. I live in Bushwick. It is quite distance from here.”
“No problem,” Blaine answered. He led Kurt to his car and opened the passenger door for him. Once inside Kurt took the other boy’s jacket off and set it in the back seat.
“Where do you live?” Kurt asked. He was curious as to where he’d be moving, should he accept Blaine’s offer.
“Upper Manhattan,” Blaine answered.
Kurt let out a breath. That was an expensive area. “What about your family?” Kurt asked as they drove out of the parking garage.
“I haven’t talked them since they went back to Italy. My dad is busy. My mom keeps to herself,” Blaine’s answer was short and Kurt figured he shouldn’t push for more.
The rest of the ride was quiet. Kurt told Blaine where to go once they made it to Bushwick. Blaine pulled up to the curb beside Kurt’s building. After the car was parked Blaine expected Kurt to get out, but the taller boy didn’t move for a few minutes. Blaine opened his mouth to say something but Kurt spoke first. “What about relationships?” Kurt asked. His cheeks turned slightly rosy but his voice remained leveled.
“I don’t understand. What relationships? We would live together and pretend like we’re in a relationship,” Blaine restated what he said earlier.
“Yes. But what about if you meet someone? Or I meet someone?” Kurt asked quietly.
“Do you have a boyfriend Kurt? I guess I should’ve asked you that before all of this,” Blaine said, embarrassed.
“No. I don’t. But I am young and so are you. We have needs...urges…” Kurt trailed off.
Blaine caught on to what Kurt was saying as he watched the boy’s cheek color darken.
“Oh,” Blaine started to save him the embarrassment of continuing. “Do you know what this can be used for,” Blaine asked as he grabbed Kurt’s hand. Kurt nearly choked and nodded quickly. Blaine could feel the heat radiating off the boy from his embarrassment. “Good, because you can’t date outside of our marriage,” Blaine whispered right into Kurt’s ear.
Kurt squeaked and ripped his hand away from Blaine. “Okay. I guess I have a lot to think about then,” Kurt said quickly. He grabbed his magazines from where Blaine had set them in the back and moved to get out. “When should I let you know my decision?”
“Stop by the office tomorrow and ask for me. My team will understand,” Blaine answered. Kurt nodded and said goodnight before walking to the building. Blaine had to take a deep breath before driving again. There was a lot of electricity in the air.

“Hey Rach, sorry I am late,” Kurt called as he walked into their apartment.
“Don’t you dare be. DINNER WITH BLAINE ANDERSON!!! I was hoping you’d be late...and maybe not even come home,” Rachel squealed on the last part and waggled her eyebrows. She had come out from behind her curtain holding a bottle of wine and two glasses. “I need the details. STAT!”
Kurt chuckled. He felt overwhelmed but he couldn’t clue Rachel in on why. “Well, it was beautiful. He took me to the Four Seasons,” Kurt started and Rachel’s jaw dropped. “Then we walked out to look out and stared at the city for a bit.”
“That’s wonderful! Did he kiss you goodnight?”
Kurt blushed but answered, “on the cheek.”
“Aw Kurt. Maybe you can see him again. Maybe you two will fall in love and get married,” Rachel said innocently.
That brought the world back to Kurt, “actually, I have something to tell you.”
“More?” she asked excitedly.
“We’ve actually been seeing each other for a little while. Tonight he asked me to go public with him,” Kurt lied. He hoped it was good enough.
Rachel’s jaw dropped for the second time that evening. “So yesterday when you called me excitedly and told me you saw him, it wasn’t the first time?”
“No,” Kurt sighed. “I was hoping maybe you would figure it out, but then tonight he said we should be public so I guess it wasn’t necessary.”
“Well I am so happy for you! Do you think his reputation will help you get Broadway parts? OOO or he’ll let you record a CD?”
“Slow down, Rach,” Kurt laughed and hugged the girl. He felt bad lying, but Blaine’s offer was too sweet to turn down. Yes, Kurt would have a hard time lying to his father, but it was worth it. To be debt free and not worry about supporting himself while beginning his career on Broadway. It was only a year of his life. Besides, Blaine was easy on the eyes and he was really funny. Oh no Kurt thought. You can’t fall in love with him Hummel. But seriously who was he kidding? He’d been in love with the public Blaine for four years, now he was actually falling in love with the real Blaine.

“I say that Blaine takes him out to dinner tonight to make it official,” Nick suggested. “Low key, but sweet.”
“Nah, you know Blaine. He’ll want to show the world he is romantic. What about a picnic in Central Park?” Jeff argued.
“I don’t think either of those are on the table…” Sebastian said. The boys had gotten used to his jealously but right now the meerkat boy sounded serious. They all turned to him as he held up a gossip magazine with Kurt and Blaine on the front page. There were photos of Blaine holding Kurt, putting his own jacket on the taller boy, and kissing his cheek.
“Shit. We better hope Kurt says yes,” David said.
A knock on the door alerted them to the presence of someone entering. “Hi,” said a soft voice. “Sorry to interrupt I was just looking for Blain- what’s that?” Kurt asked, his eyes landing on the magazine in Sebastian’s hand.
“This? It is an advanced copy of the magazine coming out next week. Looks like you made the cover,” Sebastian said. An evil smile played out on his lips. He was hoping to scare off this boy, and every boy so Blaine was forced to marry him.
“Hey team, what’s the news?” Blaine said cheerfully as he walked in another door. He had just finished up a meeting didn’t realize the tension in the room. He saw Kurt and a smile grew on his face, but it didn’t last long when Kurt walked up and slapped him, hard.
“You said you’d let me think about it and then you go and do this!?” Kurt yelled angrily. Blaine was so confused until the perfectly styled boy shoved a magazine in his hands. Blaine glanced at the magazine and then back at Kurt.
“What’s this?” he asked.
“Read the cover,” David said quietly. Four of the boys were uncomfortable with the scene that had unfolded but Sebastian was smiling radiantly.
Blaine looked back down at the cover and his eyes grew wide at the cover article. A source confirms mega music producer Blaine Anderson is in fact gay was written across the front.
“You didn’t know?” Kurt asked softly.
“No, I had no idea, Kurt. I’m so sorry,” Blaine said sincerely. Kurt looked embarrassed.
“Why don’t you come into my office and we’ll talk about everything,” he suggested. Kurt nodded and Blaine put a hand on his back, leading him through the door he’d just come out of.
Blaine shut the door and Kurt started talking a mile a minute, “I’msosorry! Isawthecover-”
“Woah, slow down,” Blaine said pulled Kurt into a hug. The taller boy looked like he was on the verge of hysterics.
“I’m sorry I slapped you,” Kurt murmured into Blaine’s shoulder.
Blaine chuckled and responded, “It’s okay. I probably deserved it.” Blaine lightly pulled away and sat Kurt down in a chair. Then he moved to the other side of the desk and pulled on a pair of glasses. He opened the magazine and turned to the article with him and Kurt. “It looks like whoever got the pictures didn’t hear us talking so that’s a positive.” Kurt just sat there staring at Blaine in his glasses. That boy was sexy with his glasses and light stubble. Kurt sucked in a breath and Blaine glanced up at him over the lenses which was even hotter. “What’s up?” Blaine asked with a crooked smile.
“Well, I was coming over to tell you that I decided to take you up on your offer,
Kurt said simply.
“Really?” Blaine asked, excitement showing. Before Kurt could even confirm it Blaine had run around the desk and picked him up out of the chair. He spun him around Kurt laughed. Blaine finally set him down and hugged him tight, closing his eyes. “I’m not going to be deported,” He whispered into the chestnut hair.
Just for a moment, Kurt let himself sink into the hug and softly placed a hand on Blaine’s curls. “No, you aren’t,” he whispered back. Blaine pulled back to look him in the eyes and for moment Kurt thought the boy was going to lean in and kiss him, but the door swung open.
“Blaine, you’re eleven o’clock is here-OH. Sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt,” David said quickly and went to close the door.
“David,” Blaine called. “Let him in.” Then Blaine turned to Kurt. Will you be over at Vogue at noon?”
“Yes.”
“I will pick you up for lunch, then.”
“See you soon.”
