The next day Blaine headed to school feeling like he was floating on clouds. He had his first kiss! And with Kurt no less. He didn’t even care he got shoved around on his way to his first class by the normal jocks.
He knew Kurt didn't talk to him at school, but he figured after last night, maybe just maybe he would be allowed, so he waited around the corner between classes, planning on walking up to Kurt at his locker when he heard several of the Cheerios laughing, before one of the girls spoke up.
“Kurt look we have to intervene. I mean we’ve seen how Blaine hangs around like a puppy, just waiting for you. He’s going to bring down your image. You really have got to get rid of him.” the Cheerio said, obvious disdain in her voice, followed by the hum of agreement of several of the others.
“Look girls. You know it’s something Coach Sue is demanding okay? It’s just tutoring. As soon as it’s over, he’s gone. Okay? So don’t get your ponytail’s all in a knot. He’s nothing.” He snorted.
Blaine felt as if he had just been hit in the face with a slushy, and he blinked back the tears he felt at Kurt’s words, not seeing the other boys sneaking up on him.
“Hey Loser!!!” they chorused, before all three boys proceeded to douse him in the cold sticky drink before walking off laughing, drawing the attention of the others, Kurt going a shade paler then normal when their eyes met, before Blaine ran off, locking himself in the nearest bathroom, allowing his tears to fall.

Kurt felt his heart sink. He knew from the expression on Blaine’s face he had heard everything, and now Kurt was at a loss, not sure how to fix things. The sad thing is..Kurt had become what he was because of the same treatments that he now subjected Blaine too. Kurt had been the lowest on the totem pole, he was doused in slushes and had his brand new designer clothes ruined, bruises from locker checks, and many times of being left cold and alone. One day the girl Mercedes, had decided to join the Cheerios and offered to help him, and it worked no one even remembered the old Kurt Hummel anymore. But what had he really become?
Kurt knew he didn’t like who he was, and Blaine accepted him with no questions asked, but now? He wouldn’t blame him if Blaine never wanted to speak to him again. He knew he had to apologize. He just had to think of a way. After Cheerio practice that day he went home and began devising a plan, he just hoped he wasn’t too late.
As to be expected, after that day Blaine all but ignored Kurt. He had even canceled their tutoring sessions temporarily, telling Kurt that Kurt didn’t need him anymore to get his scores up, and Kurt found himself missing him. He didn’t even enjoy his cheerleading as much as he used too anymore. He didn’t see the point. He found he would rather have Blaine’s smile and his company then his popularity. He spent a week on the plan he had come up with.. he just hoped it would work.
He walked out of his last class, and instead of changing into his Cheerio uniform…he slipped on a pair of his skin tight black jeans, his white Doc Martin’s, and a white button down shirt, with a black vest over it, his hair styled back in a perfect coif, looking very much like his fabulous old self, before quietly walking in to the choir room doorway, clearing his throat. “Um…I’m sorry to interrupt…” he said quietly getting everyone’s attention, who stared at Kurt with a mixture of shock and confusion, hushed whispers breaking out among the New Directions.
“K..Kurt?” Mr. Schuster asked surprised to see him in their room, before he came back to himself and smiled at him. “Please come in.” He said, to which Kurt nodded his thanks.
“I don’t mean to interrupt, but if it’s okay…I um wanted to do something special for someone.” he said slowly looking in the back, his eyes locking on to Blaine’s, who’s eyes widened for a moment, before they darkened again, Blaine looking away, crossing his arms a bit, making Kurt’s hesitant smile fall.
Mr. Schuester nodded. “Oh! Of course. How can we help?” he asked curiously.
Kurt took a deep breath, before speaking again. “I wanted to apologize…there’s this guy that I really care about..and I said some horrible things. I used to be an outcast and I never fit in, but I was never cruel..well unless someone wore a hideous outfit.” he said with a small smile. “Point is..I never should let my status get in the way of someone I care about. And I wanted to sing for him.” he said softly.
Mister Schuster smiled softly. “Do you want us to sing with you then?” he asked, before Kurt shook his head.
“No, but he’s in this room.” He said as he stepped forward, looking at the piano player, whom he had already told earlier that day what song he wanted to sing, and looked right at Blaine as he began to sing.
Don't leave me out in the rain
Come back and bring back my smile
Come and take these tears away
I need your arms to hold me now
The nights are so unkind
Bring back those nights when I held you beside me
Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many nights
Un-break my heart
My heart
Take back that sad word good-bye
Bring back the joy to my life
Don't leave me here with these tears
Come and kiss this pain away
I can't forget the day you left
Time is so unkind
And life is so cruel without you here beside me
Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many nights
Un-break my heart
My heart
Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Bring back the nights when I held you beside me
Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry this tears
I cried so many, many nights
Un-break my
Un-break my heart oh baby
Come back and say you love me
Un-break my heart
Sweet darlin'
Without you I just can't go on
Can't go on….
Everyone was silent after the performance, eyes wide and jaws dropped, and both Blaine and Kurt had tears running down their cheeks.
Kurt blinked quickly, before he hastily left the room, feeling entirely too exposed and vulnerable, before he heard footsteps, behind him.
“Kurt!” Blaine called out running after him, before Kurt stopped and turned to him, Blaine slowly walking up to him.
“Did you mean that?” he whispered, looking down for a moment, before he met Kurt’s eyes.
“I did.” Kurt whispered. “I’m sorry Blaine. I never meant to hurt you.”
Blaine looked at him for a moment, searching his eyes, before he leaned in and cupped Kurt’s cheeks, leaning up to kiss him.
Kurt froze in surprise for a moment, before he began to kiss Blaine back, his fingers gently clutching his shirt, not caring anymore if anyone saw them, smiling a bit when the kiss broke, resting their foreheads together.
“I like this Kurt better.” Blaine whispered, softly rubbing his thumb over his cheek.
“So do I..” Kurt whispered. He knew things weren’t perfect yet, but he felt like it was a good start in the right direction.
