Kurt carefully pulled on his suit jacket. He did one last twirl in front of the mirror.
The past few weeks had been stressful. They had started renovating their old home and Kurt had been there in every step. Some customers had even stayed away because sometimes there was way too many noise but Kurt knew it would be worth it in the end.
Blaine walked into the room and let out a whistle. “Look at you! I don't think you are even allowed to leave this room,” he smirked as he walked forward. His eyes scanning Kurt's body.
“Hmm, is that so?” Kurt asked playfully while biting his lip.
Blaine wrapped his arms around him. “I think you look beautiful but even that word doesn't get it right,” he whispered in his ear. He ended the words with a small kiss on the cheek.
“We better get going tough,” said Kurt with a sigh. “I don't want to be late.”
Blaine nodded and held out his arm. “Don't be nervous, it'll be alright,” he said with a smile as he stretched his arm in front of the door. “After you my prince,” he whispered as he bowed.
Kurt started giggling and shaking his head but walked out of the door. “You better don't leave your prince alone tonight!”
Blaine shook his head. “I won't. Just in case some other hot guys walk around and try to steal my man. I won't let it happen!”
Kurt laughed. “There is only one man I have eyes for.”
Blaine laughed. “You better.”
When they were down the stairs, pirate walked out of the room.
Blaine went down on one knee and petted Pirate. “We'll be home soon pirate. You better don't kill the curtains like the last time. You know how Kurt feels about that.”
The cat looked up and Blaine was convinced he saw an evil grin on his face. He blinked a few times trying to get his senses back.
Meanwhile Kurt kneeled down next to him. His hand curling behind Pirate's ear as he scratched. “You heard Blaine. And if any of my curtains has nails in it again, I promise you that you'll go a week without your candy!”
Blaine gasped in mock shock. “Kurt, you can't do that.”
“You just see,” Kurt said as he stood up and dusted off his pants. “Let's go. I'm driving. Bye pirate!” he said with a wave and then he was out of the door.
Blaine patted Pirate once more on the head. “You better behave,” he said once more and then he was out of the door too.
It was already rather crowded into and in front of the coffee shop. People were actually waiting to be able to go inside.
Kurt smiled a glowing smile when he saw all the people. “There are all here for this?” he whispered to Blaine.
Blaine smiled at him. “They are Kurt. I'm so proud of you!”
He sqeezed Kurt's hand once more and leaded him through the thick crowd inside. Most of them already holding their cup.
Amber and Mitch were standing behind the counter, taking orders. They waved when they saw Kurt and Blaine enter.
Kurt had needed to employ someone else when Amber told him that things got to heavy when he was needed upstairs to help with the renovations.
Kurt understood and had made work in finding someone else to help during the heavy nights and the moments he couldn't help.
It had made life a lot more easy for Kurt and Mitch was amazing to work with.
They had become close friends and the guy could work like no one else!
He was tossed from his thoughts when he felt Blaine squeeze his hand. “Am I getting a tour before everyone else?” he asked.
Kurt nodded and leaded him towards the stairs. He carefully walked under the cord hanging down to get the customers still downstairs, which was also renovated in the last week.
Upstairs was quite the same as downstairs. The room was stylish with warm colors. It held the colors blue, brown and white.
There were comfy seats all over the place. Some normal chairs with cozy tables in wood and some couches where they could sit at a coffee table.
When Blaine entered, he immediately wanted to take a seat and drink a cup of coffee. There were flowers on some tables and a few pot plants in the room which gave a feeling of air.
The room was lighten up with a few normal lights but on the wall hung fairy lights which made the room look so much more familial.
At the end of the room was a real stage with curtains. The stage held a keyboard, a guitar and a microphone in its stand. A little room was next to it which made Blaine realize it was to get prepared for the show with next to it the toilets.
Then Blaine took a look at the walls. A smile appeared on his face as he saw the quote on the wall. “The storms may get dark and the sun may shine bright but the rainbows is what we should live for, because they are worth remembering.”
Blaine let his fingers trace the words. He felt how Kurt wrapped his arms around him. “You like?” he asked.
“You remembered,” said Blaine.
“Hmm, I did. And now whole New York can enjoy it too. There is one more thing I'd like to show you though,” he whispered.
He took Blaine's hand and leaded him towards the other wall. It held little frames close together but not too many so it didn't gave a too heavy feeling. The frames were shaped into a heart.
He looked at the frames and saw little cartoon figures in it. He watched over them when he noticed Pirate. He let out a chuckle and pointed at him.
But then he noticed the middle frame. He looked right at himself. “Kurt,” he breathed out.
“You have the biggest frame because you hold the biggest space in my heart,” Kurt shrugged at he wrapped his arms around Blaine and leaned on his shoulder.
“Every person that ever meant something to me or has been there for me is in here,” he pointed. “You have all the Glee kids, Amber, Mitch, my parents and Finn and his family.
“It's amazing Kurt, I love the whole new place. It looks so cozy. Maybe I should just come study here instead of the library,” he grinned.
“Well I wouldn't mind,” shrugged Kurt. He placed a kiss on Blaine's neck. “Let's not let the others wait. They've been waiting long enough in the cold.”
“Did Amber and Mitch already see the upstairs?” Blaine asked.
“Yeah, They did when it was finished. Now let's hope the others will like it too,” shrugged Kurt.
They went back downstairs and walked under the chord.
Kurt kept standing in front of it and made a loudspeaker from his hands. “May I have your attention,” he almost screamed.
Everything became quiet immediately as everyone turned around to look at him. Kurt let out a happy sigh.
“First of all, I want to thank you for your patience. Not only with the renovations going on but also for waiting for this moment. It has been a stressful few weeks. We worked hard to get what we have today. I think it's only appropriate to thank a few people. I want to thank Amber and Mitch for all the hard work they have done, not only today. I'm so glad I took you guys as employees. Never think that I don't appreciate what you guys have done for me every day,” said Kurt as he nodded towards them with a sweet smile on his face. “I also have one more person to thank and that's the dork next to me,” he grinned as he turned to Blaine. “You are one of the only persons that has always believed in me and supported me. I know we are still young but I know we'll make it through everything. You had to live with me going insane for the past few weeks and now I'm sure you can handle me,” he said while chuckling. Blaine shook his head as his cheeks went red. “I love you so much and I'm glad I can experience all of this with you because without you I know this would have never happened,” Kurt said as he leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
Then he turned back to the crowd. “Now I know you guys have been patient and had already a taste downstairs so now I'm officially going to open the upstairs,” Kurt smiled as he took away the chord. “I hope you guys enjoy it and that I'll see you come back for a long time.”
The crowd applauded and Kurt made his way up the stairs again with Blaine. They watched how the crowd looked at the details and gave Kurt their compliments. It made Blaine feel so proud of him.
He unlinked his hand with Kurt's and walked to the stage. He tapped the microphone a few times and smiled happily as it worked. Kurt looked at him curiously.
“What's an opening party without some music?” he grinned. Then he saw Kurt look at him with his mouth wide open as he noticed how he had totally forgot to ask someone to play the whole evening.
Some regulars who knew Blaine started cheering and Blaine shook his head. “Fine guys, get your cups of coffee. We're up for a long night of fun.”
Kurt shook his head and mouthed a thank you to him. Blaine blew him a kiss with a wink just before he took place behind the piano. “How about I start with the first song I've written myself and I've played here?” he smiled as he started playing the soft melody of tattoo.
The crowd started cheering and Blaine shook his head. “I guess that's a yes,” and then his voice started to fill the room.
Kurt looked from the side where he was leaning against the wall. Each day he was falling harder, and he knew it. Blaine was just perfect for him.
It was late in the evening, or should they say morning, when they entered their home. The coffee shop would be close tomorrow morning as everyone would need their sleep to function during the day.
Pirate came sneaking behind the corner and then looked very uninterested when he saw who was entering.
Blaine crouched down until he could pick Pirate up. “How have you behaved?” he whispered in his ear when he heard Kurt let out a scream.
He looked at Pirate for a moment before placing him on the ground again, “you better run Pirate.”
The cat grinned at him and started walking towards the garage. Blaine shook his head and walked into the room.
Kurt looked distressed from where he was standing in front of the curtain. “He did it again Blaine! I told you that cat is playing with me! Next time he is getting locked into a cage. My curtains,” he screamed but the last words came out more like a whisper.
Blaine wrapped his arms around his back. “We can fix the curtains Kurt. No need to get stressed over this. We'll fix it in the morning. How about we go to sleep now? You have to be in your coffee shop at midday.”
Kurt nodded but was still looking at the curtains in shock. Blaine leaded him carefully up the stairs. “It'll be alright,” he whispered.
It took a shower before Kurt was fully calmed down. He looked at Blaine with a frown on his face, “this time he is getting punished and you know it,” Kurt said while he pointed his finger at him.
Blaine just shrugged. “You can do whatever you want for the rest of the day, but now I need some sleep,” Blaine said as he let himself fall down on the bed.
“Not so fast,” said Kurt. He walked towards the box he had been holding since they went home. He opened the box and took out a cup.
“Here you go,” he smiled.
Blaine frowned and looked at the cup. He smiled though when he noticed what was going on. It showed Blaine on the stage behind the keyboard in the new coffee shop. Above was written: “We fit together like puzzle pieces. Thank you for helping me out tonight when I forgot about the most important part of the night.” With a little heart.
Blaine smiled at him. “I love it,” he said as he placed the cup on the nightstand. Then he held open his arms. “I'll place it in the box tomorrow but now I need my Kurt snuggles.”
Kurt climbed into the bed and let him fall against Blaine's chest. “They are the best,” he grinned.
“They are,” sighed Blaine happily. It didn't take long before they both fall asleep. They didn't even notice how a while later a little kitten with black paws climbed into the bed and snuggled at their feet.
