Author's Notes:

first chapter comes up soon. Its only the beginning.

Kurt walked through the hallway. Today was his first day at Dalton. He was scared. Kurt didn't hear a sound and tried to make himself as little as possible. He didn't like the uniform he had to wear but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make if it meant he was safe. Who was he kidding though. This school wouldn't be any different than the last. He first had to see before he would believe it. The administrator next to him looked every once in a while at him. A few boys in the hallways looked at him. Burt was walking a little behind with his bags. They walked into a block which were probably the dorms. The warbler house was written on the wall. Kurt had no idea what it meant but just decided to follow. The woman stopped before a room. Number 20. She was talking to Kurt but Kurt had missed the beginning and now it was impossible to follow what she said. He looked to Burt with expectant eyes. Burt signed what the woman had said and Kurt just nodded. He had a roomie. Looks like his wishes weren't coming true today. Kurt walked into the room. One side was totally empty. He placed his stuff on the ground and sat on the bed. He looked around, ignoring the conversation between his dad and the woman. The room was  rather big and split in two sides. One side had their beds, each a single one. The other side held their bureau's and a door to what Kurt assumed was the bathroom. He felt a familiar hand on his shoulder and looked up. His dad smiled a little to him. He started to sign to Kurt. “Are you ok buddy?” Kurt nodded and smiled. “I'll be. You should go.” Burt nodded. “I'll come and get you on Friday kiddo. Don't forget!” They hugged each other tightly before Burt and the woman disappeared through the door. Kurt sighed and started to unpack his bags. He had barely taken any free time clothes with him as he had to wear the uniform. He folded the few things he had and placed them in his closet. He placed the book he was reading on his night table. His bed got new sheets and a pillow. The few pictures he had with his friends in Lima, he hung above his bureau. He would miss the new directions of course and he knew they had tried to convince him that they would protect him but he had to go. Kurt placed all his stuff in the bathroom as he saw that he had his own sink and a little place to pull all his skin care products. Kurt walked back in the room and saw it was only two in the afternoon. He decided to take a little sleep and laid down on his new bed.

Kurt woke up to see someone sitting at his bureau. He looked on his alarm clock. He had slept for three hours. Kurt stretched himself, a little like a cat and sat up on his bed. He didn't notice how the boy looked up and started to talk to him. It wasn't until he felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up into two hazel eyes. He was lost in the eyes that he didn't see how the boy was talking to him. The boy really seemed confused now and shook him a little. Kurt just stood up and walked to his bureau. He took a paper as he decided that would be the easiest way to explain. The boy stood behind him and was waiting to see what the new kid was doing. Kurt held up the paper and Blaine started to read. I can't hear. It were simple words with a lot of meaning behind it. Blaine looked a little shocked but held out his hand. Kurt looked confused but Blaine pointed towards the paper and the pen. Kurt handed it to him. I'm sorry. They didn't tell me. It's fine though. My name is Blaine. Kurt smiled and looked up at the boy. He was smiling now and was even more beautiful. I'm Kurt. It's nice to meet you. Blaine held out his hand to shake and Kurt laughed. Blaine looked like a nice boy. He really hoped this year would be different. Blaine took the paper again and started to write. I'm meeting my friends in a bit. Warbler hang-out party. You like to come? There was the strange name again. What is a warbler? He looked up to see Blaine laughing. You sleep in the warbler dorm and have no idea what a warbler is? We should change that soon. Common, you're coming with me. Kurt grinned and took the little notebook he carried around most of the time. His pen in his pocket. Blaine stretched out a hand for Kurt to hold. Kurt hesitated a bit but took his hand. They walked down the hallway until Blaine stopped at a door. He opened the door to reveal a lot of boys waiting in what seemed like a living room. Everywhere were sofa's and there was a big screen in the middle. Everyone looked up when they saw Blaine walk in with a boy they didn't know and they were holding hands. They all started to talk and Kurt just gave up after a while. He could lip read but if people started to talk all together he just got lost. He looked at his feet when he felt the squeeze of his hand. He looked up to see Blaine point to the notebook he was holding. Kurt gave it to him and Blaine lead them to a free sofa. They sat down and Blaine started to write with his free hand. He held it up for Kurt to read. I explained, I hope you don't mind. These are the warblers. They will be like brothers to you. The name warblers comes from the singing group the warblers we have here. Most of us sing in it. Kurt read the note and held out his hand for the notebook. Blaine gave it to him. Kurt had to let go of Blaine's hand to write the new note. Sounds like fun. Too bad I won't be able to hear it. I would like to see you perform once though. Blaine grinned and took the notebook from him. We can work on that. Next to it was a goofy smiley. Kurt chuckled. That's when he noticed that everyone was looking at him. He started to make himself a little smaller and Blaine noticed. He laid a hand on Kurt's knee and took the notebook again. It's ok Kurt. They are your friends. They won't do anything to you. Kurt looked up and wondered how Blaine knew. Blaine just shook his head and smiled at him. He was talking now with another boy and Kurt felt a little left behind. No one really was trying to make contact with him. He felt once again alone.
