Moments before Kurt was to be ready, he was standing in front of Rachel and Mercedes who were judging his outfit. He had a white long sleeved shirt underneath a greenish-blue T-shirt, dark skinny jeans, and brown leather dress shoes. He thought it was casual enough, but not boring. The girls agreed with him, and helped him fix his hair.
“It’s useless, you know,” Kurt told them, “it’s going under a helmet any second now.” He said, frowning as he touched it, looking at it in the mirror.
“Why?” Rachel asked.
“He’s driving us to the movies,” Kurt looked back at them, cringing, “on his motorcycle.”
Both gave him an incredulous look. “Seriously?” Mercedes questioned, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah,” Kurt confirmed. He didn’t want Mercedes to catch on about the whole parking ordeal, so he decided to bring them upstairs. At the top, he saw his dad in the kitchen. When Kurt entered the room, his dad turned around.
“Where are you heading, Kurt?” he asked, looking at Kurt.
“I…” Kurt started, trying to figure out what to say. His dad will probably figure out eventually; Finn can’t keep a secret from his mother, and Carol will automatically tell him. “I’m going on a date.”
Burt was taken aback, surprised, and raised his eyebrows. “Really? Do I know this boy?”
“No,” Kurt began, “his name’s Blaine. He’s amazing dad. He’s nice, funny, and –“
“Romantic,” Mercedes interrupted.
“Mercedes!”
Mercedes just gave him a seemingly innocent look and shrugged her shoulders.
“Well,” Burt huffed, “good for you Kurt. I know it’s hard, being the only openly gay kid at your school, and I’m glad you found someone, though he better be a nice guy. Have fun and be safe.”
“I will, dad.”
Just then, the bell rang. “There he is now. Bye dad, love you!” He ran to the door, put on his new dark blue Gucci sweater and gave his father a wave as him, Mercedes and Rachel walked through the door. When he opened it, he saw Blaine standing there, hot as ever, wearing a dark blue and green plaid shirt under his jacket, dark ripped jeans, and black high tops.
“I didn’t know we were bringing a third and fourth wheel,” Blaine said, looking over at Rachel and Mercedes with a confused look on his face, “I’d rather just the two of us; after all, I drive a motorcycle.”
“Clever one, aren’t you?” Kurt retorted sarcastically.
“We were just leaving,” Mercedes explained.
“Yeah, don’t worry about us,” Rachel added. “However, I think that once you meet Kurt’s family, you should talk to Finn about romance. His dates aren’t all that creative, and he should take my advice about his duet choices, especially –“
“Let’s go, Rachel,” Mercedes interrupted, pulling her away. “Bye guys!”
“Bye Rachel, bye ‘Cedes!” Kurt shouted after them. When he looked back at Blaine, he sighed. “I think we should just take my car…”
“No way,” Blaine replied, “You’re going to have to get used to this motorcycle if you want to keep going on dates with me. And I bet you do.” He smiled genuinely at Kurt.
Kurt blushed and looked down before looking up at the motorcycle with a grimace. “Is it scary?”
“Well, at first it seems a little scary, but after a while it’s a blast.”
“Okay. I swear you’re turning me into a rebellious child.”
“Take chances!” Blaine turned and backed up to face Kurt holding out his hand, and Kurt grabbed it, allowing Blaine to pull him forward. Kurt gulped loudly, but continued to follow Blaine over to the motorcycle. When they both stopped in front of it, Blaine let go of Kurt’s hand to grab his helmet, and reached into the compartment to get Kurt’s.
“Now,” Blaine began, “I know you didn’t want to mess up your hair, but just think of it this way. It’s better to keep it contained than to let it blow crazily in the wind. Plus, I don’t think you’d remember how to use witty sarcasm if you get brain damage.”
“Oh, I’d always remember my witty sarcasm. Plus, the extensive amount of hair spray I used for tonight’s dreadful helmet use would protect me.”
Blaine chuckled and sat on the motorcycle, patting the seat behind him. “Come on, you can do it,” he said playfully, and Kurt took the helmet, cringing as he put it on, and sat down on the motorcycle behind Blaine.
“You might want to hold on,” Blaine suggested.
“Is that a pick up line you use on all the boys you think are good looking?”
“Just you,” Blaine winked. “But seriously, hold on. You’ll probably fall off if you don’t”
“That’s reassuring.”
“Ready?”
“I guess so,” Kurt said nervously, and wrapped his arms around Blaine’s waist, quite enjoying the feel of Blaine’s body flush to his. Blaine started the motorcycle, slowly going down the driveway. Kurt gripped Blaine’s jacket tighter, hoping to survive this ride.
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,” was all that Kurt could say as they drove to the theatre. Blaine was enjoying the cool air whipping all around them, and Kurt slowly started enjoying it too. Once Blaine parked at the movies, he turned off the motorcycle and tried to get off, but was stopped by Kurt’s grip.
“Kurt?” Blaine looked back, attempting to pry Kurt’s hands from him. “As flattered as I am, you can let go now.”
“What? Oh.” Kurt blushed and let go slowly before getting off the motorcycle. “Well that was… fun.”
“I know, right? Thanks for not freaking out.”
“Yeah,” Kurt gave a nervous laugh. “So what movie are we going to see, anyways?”
“You’ll see,” was all Blaine said as they walked through the entrance. He had his backpack with him, Kurt realized, and was also walking past the ticket desk to the entrance of the theatres.
“What are you doing?” Kurt whispered as Blaine took two little sheets with random words written on them. He gave one to Kurt, and as they walked by the ticket stand, Blaine held out his sheet for a quick second, and after seeing a similar “ticket” in Kurt’s hand, he nodded and let them pass without even looking attentively at the papers.
Kurt waited a moment before whispering to him again; “Blaine Anderson, what if we got caught?”
“It’s fine, we didn’t,” Blaine looked at Kurt, receiving a death glare, ”Okay, okay, sorry. Next time we go see a movie, I’ll pay.”
“Or I can,” Kurt insisted as they entered the movie. The name of it was Insidious, and Kurt hadn’t heard of it yet, so he didn’t know it was scary, much to Blaine’s advantage. Once the movie started, Kurt stared at him, wide-eyed.
“You said you wanted to see a scary movie if you could hold on to me!” Blaine defended himself.
“I think I can be strong,” Kurt said calmly. They talked a little bit throughout the movie, commenting on how ridiculous a few parts were. At the point when the man was walking through the house full of ghosts, Blaine was actually hiding himself in Kurt’s shoulder, much to Kurt’s surprise.
As the movie came to an end, Kurt let out a big breath of air through pursed lips. “Well, that was okay.”
“Okay?” Blaine started, attempting to calm his nerves. “I, personally, was scared shitless.”
“Who’s holding who now?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Blaine scoffed jokingly as they walked out of the movie theatre.
It was around 9:00, and the Lima bean didn’t close until 10:00 on weekends (people liked to get a drink after later movies), so Kurt and Blaine decided to go get a coffee.
“What are you going to get?” Kurt asked Blaine.
“Medium drip. It’s what I usually get.”
As they neared the counter Kurt gave in his order, the non-fat mocha, as well as Blaine’s. When the barista punched it through, Kurt paid for both drinks, much to Blaine’s protest. “You paid for the dinner, so it’s my turn now.” Once they grabbed their drinks, they walked out of the doors to sit at a table outside. They drank their coffees and talked for a while about the movie, and how funny Kurt found it when Blaine would tense up at the scarier moments. Kurt was surprised, and slightly grossed out, when Blaine took a cigarette from a pack in his backpack and lit it.
“You smoke?”
“Yeah. Well, no,” Blaine answered thoughtfully, sipping at his coffee. “I do sometimes; when I’m stressed.”
“You’re stressed now?”
“Not really. That movie just scared the hell out of me.”
Kurt’s expressions lightened up a bit. “I can tell.” After a short pause, Kurt asked: “So why did you start?”
“Well… I think I first tried it at the start of the summer when my parents were starting to stress me out. Mark and I were sitting on the roof of Breadstix, and when he offered me one I thought ‘why not?’, so I took it. It helped calm me down a little bit. I’m not addicted or anything; it just helps settle my nerves.”
“Huh,” Kurt sounded when Blaine looked at him expectantly. “Well, just try not to smoke around me; the smoke will ruin my lungs, and I need them if I want to get into Broadway. Also, I suggest a different method of relieving tension, like yoga or drinking tea.”
“Or you can give me a back massage,” Blaine smirked, and took a long drag of his cigarette. Kurt thought smoking was terrible, but he didn’t want to offend Blaine too badly. “You’re right though, about needing to find a different method.”
“Yeah, when you’re lying on your back in a hospital bed with lung cancer the whole massage strategy won’t be an option.”
“Touché,” Blaine said, a slight pause in between thoughts, “I’m sorry. I’ll stop smoking. I don’t want it to become a bad habit, and yeah, it definitely does cause problems.”
“Good. Although, it does compliment your whole hot bad boy look,” Kurt commented without thinking.
“Well, shucks,” Blaine replied, chuckling as Kurt blushed. “That shirt compliments your eyes. And you always look hot.”
“Thanks,” Kurt blushed even harder.
“No problem,” Blaine spoke with a sheepish smile on his face. They continued talking until Blaine finished his smoke and their cups were empty, the Lima Bean already closed. Once they were ready to go, the headed over to Blaine’s motorcycle. Kurt, feeling bold, took Blaine’s hand and intertwined their fingers. Blaine looked over at Kurt, and once he caught his stare, gave him a smile.
He looked down at their hands again, then back to Kurt. “So, does this mean that I can kiss you?”
“As long as you promise never to inhale nicotine toxins again, I guess so.”
“I promise,” Blaine said, pulling Kurt towards him by their clasped hands, and wrapped his other arm around Kurt’s waist. Kurt placed his hands lightly on Blaine’s chest, and brought their lips together in a sweet kiss. It still surprised Kurt that even though Blaine seemed tough on the outside, he could be so nice and sincere. He was also surprised that Blaine didn’t push him into anything, even though he probably wouldn’t protest. He hasn’t even been in a relationship before, though, so he guessed that Blaine didn’t want to rush. Was this even a relationship? Kurt had no idea, but he told himself he’d figure that out.
Just as soon as they stopped kissing.
When they pulled apart, Kurt couldn’t help but getting lost in his hazel eyes. They were dark with gold flecks, and burned straight into his. He didn’t have much time to stare at them, however, since Blaine locked their lips together for a second time that night, holding Kurt close, their whole bodies touching. Blaine sucked lightly on Kurt’s lower lip, which was going to turn this sweet kiss into a whole other type. Unfortunately, Kurt thought it was already getting late, so he had to pull away.
“You can’t keep me here forever.”
“I wish,” Blaine said, his voice low and seductive. Suddenly, his tone changed to light and joking again. “We could stay here and drink coffee all night.”
“You’re ridiculous,” Kurt laughed, taking the helmet from Blaine and hopping on to the motorcycle.
