Blaine stood there taking in Kurt's beauty and holding his hand- Kurt's eyes really were something extraordinary. ‘So urm. Are we going to go in and get you ready for dinner?' Kurt- who was slightly taller than Blaine- asked after some time. ‘Oh, yeah. Right away.' Blaine replied fumbling with the lock on his door. Blaine always kept his door locked after one rather unfortunate incident involving a bath and a maid. If anyone ever needed to go into his room then they'd have to ask him or the butler. As Blaine finally opened the door he led Kurt into his room and sat down on his bed. Kurt was clearly nervous as he was fiddling with his jacket and pacing back and forth, ‘So urm what are you wearing for dinner?' Kurt asked shyly. Blaine was going to have to try harder to make him feel more welcome but Blaine wasn't a very welcoming person, ‘Oh well I was thinking these.' Blaine said pulling out the first thing he saw not really paying attention to what he picked. Kurt laughed, ‘You can't wear that! You'll look like you're wearing nightwear.' Blaine looked down a realised what he had picked out- a blue silk shirt and white shorts he had purchased for his holiday last summer. ‘Oh yeah you're right.' Blaine chuckled as he placed the clothes back in his wardrobe. At least that broke the tension.
Kurt started looking through his wardrobe. ‘You sure have a lot of clothes, Mr Anderson' Kurt stated as he started to look through Blaine's wardrobe. ‘Thanks I guess. And hey call me Blaine. I really hate people calling me Mr Anderson because I feel like it gives me some kind status above everyone else and I don't want that.' It was true. Blaine hated everything about status and his family's wealth. ‘Well in that case, Blaine,' Kurt started with emphasis in his name, ‘I suggest you wear this.' Kurt finished pulling out a simple black suit and white shirt and a red bowtie. ‘Please not the bowtie.' Blaine requested. ‘Why not? You have like 4 million of them.' Kurt joked; he obviously felt more comfortable with Blaine now. ‘It's rather an embarrassing story really,' Blaine started, ‘A couple of years ago I had a slight obsession with buying bowties every time I saw them. At one point I had 72.' Blaine finished bashfully. Kurt laughed at his little anecdote- how nice of him. ‘So are you going to wear it? It'll look really good I promise.' Kurt begged. Blaine considered the worst that could happen and he decided to go with the bowtie, ‘Fine... but you may have to remind me how to do it up.' Blaine teased as he started undoing his shirt. ‘Shouldn't I be doing that?' Kurt interjected. ‘I guess.' Blaine replied. He hated people touching him and being almost naked in front of people. It wasn't that he was ashamed of how he looked- in fact he was rather proud of it- it was just that he didn't like being the centre of attention, unfortunately he often was in the limelight. Kurt must've sensed his awkwardness, ‘Or you could do it yourself whilst I try to find some shoes.' Kurt asked quietly. ‘No, no it's fine it's just I haven't had a valet for a while.' Blaine responded guilty.
‘All done!' Kurt exclaimed as he finished brushing Blaine's suit down. ‘And we have enough time to actually get to know each other.' Blaine finished as he sat down in his arm chair by the window and signalled the chair opposite for Kurt to sit in. ‘I love getting to know the servants so why did you decide to come a work here at Turvey abbey? Oh man I sound so rehearsed.' Blaine stumbled along. ‘Hey don't worry. Well I decided to come here after-‘ But before Kurt could finish what he was going to say the bell signalling supper rang. ‘Oh sorry about this I have to go.' Blaine said fleeing the room. Blaine didn't like how Kurt made him feel but he wanted more at the same time. This made no sense.
Dinner was fairly normal. Blaine was ignored; his family would make some stupid joke: Cooper would be the center of attention and then after two hours of torture, Blaine would excuse himself and make his way up to his room. However, when Blaine entered his room, he found Kurt still sitting in the same spot as where Blaine had left him two hours go. ‘What are you still doing here?' Blaine demanded. Kurt looked terrified and swiftly made his way to the door. ‘Oh sorry Kurt, that sounded rude. I just wasn't expecting you to still be here.' Blaine tried to recover. ‘No you're right I should be going. Night Blaine I'll see you tomorrow.' Kurt bode farewell and was about to go when Blaine said, ‘Actually Kurt, normally you'd help me get ready for bed but urm if you don't want to tonight that's fine. I mean it is your first day.' Blaine interjected. ‘Okay thanks Blaine. I'll be back after my supper.' And with that Kurt left.
Kurt did come back and just as he did after he was ready for supper, Blaine sat down in the armchair and Kurt followed suit. ‘You didn't tell me why you joined.' Blaine stated. ‘It's not my fault that your supper interrupted our conversation.' Kurt joked. Blaine sat there for a while waiting for Kurt to continue, ‘Are you going to tell me why?' Blaine asked breaking their silence. ‘Oh yeah sorry I was deep in thought,' Kurt began, ‘I worked for a family in Surrey but the other members of staff they... spread rumours about my love life.' Kurt took a breath. This was going to be hard for him. ‘Hey, if this is going to be hard for you and make you upset then don't do it. Honestly it's okay.' Blaine tried to comfort him. ‘No, no you need to know.' Kurt said tears forming in his eyes. ‘It's fine if after I tell you, you want to get rid of me or something. I'm gay.' Tear were flowing from Kurt's eyes now, ‘I'm proud of who I am and at my old place the other members of staff bullied me and then one day this horrible, horrible butler told the head butler that I had been doing inappropriate things to him- he was lying I promise but never the less I was let go with a good reference. I got a job here and I hope that I keep it. Of course I expect you to let me go right now but thank you anyway.' Kurt stood up with tears streaming down his face and a wave of compassion washed over Blaine, ‘No. I'm not going to fire you. Just because you like different things doesn't mean that you shouldn't work for me; I mean I wouldn't fire you because your favourite colour was different to mine, would I? However, I do have to ask you whether Mr Just and my parents know about you.' Blaine said grabbing Kurt's arm to prevent him running out. ‘Yes they know. They said that although they don't approve they have no reason to let me go as long as I don't so anything inappropriate. Thank you so much Blaine.' Kurt said as tears stopped tumbling out of his eyes. ‘Goodnight, Kurt. I'll see you in the morning' Blaine said as Kurt walked out of the room. This wasn't going to be easy but he was going to make sure Kurt was happy.
