Author's Notes: Another chapter because I'm too tired to talk myself out of it. Let me know any errors, grammarwise or just poor spelling. Love you and read this and let me know what you think!

Debates sucked Blaine had decided when he was 10 years old. Almost 8 years later and he could say he had changed his mind. It was a fine line he had realized not that long ago. To walk the line between not listening at all and not doze off or actually listening and keep from pulling his hair out because he was related to that man. He had raised him. And he just wouldn't stop talking about "family issues", as if it was something to even be relevant!

This was the first of the direct debates between his father and Burt Hummel and it had been mostly caught in a stand-still. His father had tried belittling the man and had managed to be shot down so fast it had taken all Blaine had to not laugh. But that was 70 minutes ago and it looked like the debate wasn't going to end with the bell. Blaine jawned in his seat, hoping no one would notice, when someone does. A small tap on his shoulder makes him turn around and meet the eye of the most beautiful thing he had seen in his life, so much could he see, even in the dim light. Those eyes, and that hair- oh god. He was wearing skinny jeans. Like, skinny jeans. Blaine gulped as the boy extended a hand toward him.

"I'm Kurt." He whispered and smiled.

"You're-" Blaine spoke to loudly before hushing himself. "You're Kurt Hummel?" He whispered much more carefully.

"The one and only." The boy, Kurt, winked at him. "And you're Blaine Anderson, correct?"

"Eh- yes." Blaine answered and trying to think. His clothes that had been just fine minutes before, felt a lot warmer and tighter than he liked.

"Eloquent." Kurt smiled.

Blaine blushed as the bell, finally, went off.

Under their balcony, their father's left their podiums and shook eachothers hand with, what looked like, a very, very tight grip.

"I don't mean to impudent, but are you staying for the, most definately happening, crisis meeting our father's will hold respectively?" Kurt whispered before leaning closer to Blaine's ear and continue. "Or would you rather feast on whatever buffet with your father's opponents son? I heard they have excellent cheesecake."

Blaine casts a glance down at the floor, with his father posing for photographs with Mr. Smythe, his running mate, and talking in low hushed voices. A surge of rebellion never felt before by Blaine makes him turn his head and look Kurt in the eyes.

"You know what? It sounds great." Blaine smiles and the both boys sneak out of backdoor.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They might not have had any cheesecake worth eating, but the view was to die for. If Blaine had thought Kurt beautiful in the tv-screen or in the dark of the seats, it was nothing compared to the way he looked in clear light. Even under the flourescent lamps, his hair, his eyes, his skin, his ass looked like it had been sculpted by an artist who had been blessed with the ability to translate usic into people.

The room was packed once they got in, but they had managed to find a smaller empty room connected to it and that is were they sat down with their plates of food.

They had been sitting there for a couple of minutes and Blaine was doing all he could to not just sit there and stare, no matter how wonderful that had been, he was not supposed to look at boys like that, especially not Burt Hummel's son. Someone who had the potential of ruining his father's political career and setting of Blaine's guilt complex when he only had one month to go before he was done. So, no Blaine, don't stare at his ass no matter how perfect, don't glance at his so, so kissable lips and don't smile and blush when he catches you looking. And for godsake, don't tell him anything.

"It's weird I guess?" Kurt changed the subject from the basic questions he had asked moments before. "We. Talking. Seeing as our father's are mortal enemies-" He winked at that and Blaine's stomach did most certainly not swoop at it "- and are competing to win an elections a month away, and we are actually not leaping at eachother's throats."

Blaine shrugged his shoulders. "Perhaps it's the best way to achieve true democracy. Keeping personal matters out of politics and politics out of personal matters and just being civil."

"But isn't that against human nature? After all, we all have our reasons to think what we think, and if we weren't affected by politics and values in our everydaylife, wouldn't we only be lying?"

Blaine was about to respond when the door opened.

"Hey, Kurt, there you are- Who are you?" A tall boy in their age asked Blaine as he was sitting on top of a bucket turned up-side-down.

"What Finn?" Kurt snapped and Blaine was nearly shocked with how fast his expression changed from interested to snarky.

The guy's, Finn's, eyes snapped away from Blaine. "I just- Kurt, who is this?"

Blaine got on his feet and extended his hand to Finn who was had a ridiculously height-advantage. "Hello. Blaine Anderson."

Finn shook his hand with his eyebrows furrowed tight together. "Anderson...- Wait Kurt, why are you hanging out with the enemy?"

"Wow Finn, congratulations on being an asshole. He's not the enemy, his father is running against Burt, he's just his son. Plus, just because someone has another political opinion that you doesn't mean you ca-"

"But you did the exact thing the other day!" Finn interrupts. "You callled him an ignorant bigot and now you're hanging out with this dude?"

Blaine almost snorted at the way Kurt's face became even more pale.

"I- I did not say that!" he states. "And I was talking about his political values not him as a person!"

"You still haven't answered my question." Finn points out.

"We are eating. Calm down, you really need to stop this creepy, overprotecting stuff." Kurt says.

"As your big bro, I gotta watch out for you!"

"You're two weeks older than I am Finn." Kurt sighs. "What did you even want in the first place?" He asks.

"Eh, I gotta go talk to Rachel, she's freaking out about something again-"

"What!?" Kurt exclaims. "You were supposed to drive me home!"

"But dude, she's gonna be even worse if I don't come like in five minutes-" Finn begins.

"She's always upset Finn." Kurt states. "Can't you just-"

"I can drive you home." Blaine says and the second he says he knows it was a bad thing. Kurt turns around and looks suprised but glad, but Finn. Lets just say Blaine would make sure to never be alone in a room with Finn, because he looked at him like he would bite his head off.

"Really?" Kurt smiled. "Wow, thanks Blaine!" He turned to Finn who was still glaring at Blaine. "Fine Finn, go talk to Rachel or whatever-"

"It's okay." Finn said, eyes never leaving Blaine. "I'll take you later."

"Finn." Kurt spat and it forced Finn to turn his gaze. "Blaine's gonna take me home. I have my cell. Will you please stop acting like this and go talk to Rachel before her head implodes?"

Kurt must've shown Finn he wasn't giving in because Finn sighed and left. "Call me when you leave."

They were alone again and Kurt sat down on the cushion he had found in a closet in the back.

"So, don't you think our political values are because who we are as people?" Kurt asked.

Blaine smiled and sat down before throwing himself in to a discussion with one of the smartest and wittiest persons he had ever met.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

It wasn't until almost half an hour later when the lights went out in the room they packed up their things and headed for Blaine's car. The parking lot wasn't empty, their father's were still with their teams, planning for the next debate in four days.

The radio played some commercials as they drove into Chicago night, Kurt directing him toward the Hummel residence.

"You've lived here your whole life?" Blaine asks because Kurt seems to know every street corner and he has barely ever been in a big city free to explore.

"No, we lived in Lima until I was 12 and dad started as a Senator and we just kept living here as he began living more in Washington than here. We got a house there as well for the times when we all go to support him, but it's much smaller." Kurt told him. "I guess if we win this thing we won't need it."

"What do you mean?" Blaine asks.

Kurt almost laughs at him. "You do know it's free accommodation included in the job?" But he sighs and adjusts himself in his seat. "I can't believe that one of us will be living in the White House within six months."

They sit still at that, the realisation that one of them would actually be the first son of the US, or in Blaine's case, the third.

"So, Blaine, have you always lived in Alaska?" Kurt smiles after a moment of silence.

He sighs at it, Alaska isn't really his favourite place. "Yep. Born and raised."

Kurt hums at it and taps his fingers to the music as they make their way through the city.

"What's it like?" Kurt suddenly asks.

"What's what like?"

"Living in the same place so long."

Blaine sits quiet for a while before answering. "Most of the time I just want to get out."

"It's hard to change I guess, the same places and same faces make it hard to feel like you can have another chance. It's stressful not having a way out that I imagine something bigger would always have. It's fading, it's hard to appreciate the small things about something that you've always seen as background. It's frustrating not feeling you can leave. It's not like you would, but you want the reassurence that you could."

"What's it like for you?" Blaine ask after letting his ranting fall in silence.

Kurt drew a breath as he spoke. "I guess that the constant new places to explore and people to see can be stressful, but mostly I just feel lost. Not like I'm losing myself in the crowd, more like I could fade away with it. I try making big apparences to outshine everyone, for attention, even though it sounds so terrible cliché- I don't think I'm a Chicago-kind-of-guy."

"What do you mean?" Blaine asked and Kurt wet his lips before speaking again.

"I guess cities just have souls the same way people does." Kurt explained. "Chicago is fine, but it's so corporate and cold in a way I don't belong to. I'm dreaming of New York or Paris, I guess I just want a place filled with dreams to lose myself in."

They sit in silence until Kurt starts laughing. The sound of it is so lovely Blaine wants to lose himself in it but he asks a "what?" and Kurt shakes his head.

"I just realized I've had the deepest conversation of my life with someone I barely know."

"I think I've told you more about myself than I've ever had told anyone, so if you don't know me, I should be feeling really lonely."

Blaine had meant for it to come out as a tease, something to be brushed off, but the serenity in his words was picked up by Kurt and he smiled at him softly.

"So maybe not complete stranger?" Kurt answered.

"Good enough." Blaine smiled back at him just as he made his way up Kurt's street.

"Hey Blaine, I've- I just..." Kurt starts but cuts himself off. "I had fun tonight. Do you want to grab coffee tomorrow?"

Before Blaine has time to talk himself out of this very bad idea, he has given Kurt his number and they decided on a coffee shop and a time tomorrow to meet up, and then, Kurt is making his way up to the house and Blaine is almost certain he moves his hips deliberatly. Not that he was looking. Much, anyway.

Thanks! I'll try writing the next two chapters today (already outlined so not that much work) and I hope you'll like those too!

you know, i can see the potential for some romeo and juliet elements here. two men who fall for each other, but receive pressure from all of their family members to stay apart. and then some scheming to actually make sure they stay apart–queue sabastian smythe–but they continue to grow closer. of course, don't have them kill themselves in a love pact, cuz that would ruin the story. maybe have a scene where kurt can convince his family that he's happy with blaine and that they want to be together and his dad, he's not happy, but he backs off and lets kurt make his own choices. and blaine, well, since there's no convincing his family (read dad), he tells them to f*ck off, races off to kurt's and elopes with him. i'm sorry i'm just speculating about your story too much. but let me assure you that when i do speculate like this, i am really into the story and will follow it to its completion :)

Thank you so much, I'm really glad you like it! I do the same thing and I am superflattered, hopefully the rest of the story will meet your expectations!
