Blaine

We weren't always miserable; back what was almost a life time ago we were happy.
Of course that was because back then we had no reasons to be sad; Birthdays and Christmas's we spent with our beloved friends and family members, we always had food and a roof over our heads.
But a childhood of happiness still couldn't compare to August 3rd 1992. The happiest day of our life's. That was the day that changed everything, when normality went out the window.
When Kurt gave birth to our daughter. I've never been so happy and scared and so… filled with love. Love for my Husband, my daughter, our family.
People say the first few weeks with a baby is stressful and what you try to forget, but I never want to forget. Ever. Unknown to me or Kurt those precious moments lost to sleeping or when Burt watched over the baby to give us a break, were times that we'll never be able to make up for.
But still with the sleep deprivation and shattered ear drums due to the screaming we were overall the happiest people on earth. But the happiness couldn't last for ever.
The media found out eventually, and with the media came the preachers. 'Unnatural' they called her 'the living sin', 'the spawn of Satan'. If Satan looked anything close to how she did I'd go to hell and back just to get a look.
And finally with the preachers came the homophobes but they did more than simply protest they sent threatening letters and screamed abuse across the street whilst out walking the baby.
It had to stop but it got worse and worse. When they set fire to the house, that's when I knew something needed to be done.
Our angel of a daughter was not safe with us; as much as we both tried to deny it we both knew it was true.
Kurt and I left any decision making till after the funeral, we didn't think it fair for Elizabeth not to have her granddaughter; the child she died for there to say goodbye.
But just like the happiness, the funeral couldn't last forever either. And so when we got home the decision was made, we'd find her the best orphanage in the neighbouring state of Michigan leaving her with a dud last name so no one could find her if they looked including probably us.
The drive out was the worst, two and a half hours of pure silence except for the few gurgles of happiness echoing from the back seat.
Each one broke my heart knowing I'd never hear it again, but eventually we pulled up outside of a large manor house with a plaque reading 'Michigan state orphanage'. And there it was, September 10th 1992 the worst day of my life.
We just walked out the door again. Leaving Danielle Elizabeth Smith behind, and at that moment I swore this wasn't the end.
One day I will find her.
My beautiful angel Danielle…
