Blaine stepped out into the bitter cold, and tightens his grip around his scarf, it was still early but he had to be at his shoot at 8 am and wanted to stop at his favorite coffee shop and pick up some coffee.
After a short walk to the coffee shop, he waited in line. He looked at the menu and decided to get Wes his usual coffee order. They had coffee at the shoot but usually, it wasn’t very good. While he looked at the menu something caught his eye, he smiled and noticed it was his turn.
He waited for his coffee order while he checked his messages he was still on time and noticed Wes had sent him a message.
(7:32) From Wes
Get me coffee.
Blaine rolled his eyes, sometimes Wes forgot his manners
(7:33) to Wes
Yes, dear.
(7:33) from Wes
Yay! Hurry up.
He grabbed his order and headed to the studio the shoot was being held at. He was excited and nervous. He hoped he didn’t do too awful, it was GQ and he didn’t want to mess it up.
Kurt was going to be there, he was going to be wearing Kurt’s designs. The thought made him feel warm inside. He was shocked when Wes told him Kurt had agreed to do the shoot, after their dinner, they had no communication for the last two weeks, and he thought maybe he didn’t want to see him after the fiasco with the picture outside the restaurant.
Blaine would have called him, he wanted to, but after the fight with James he decided not to, he didn’t need more problems with James, and he hated himself for letting James dictate who he could be friends with.
Finally, he just decided to be happy about working with Kurt, he was a rising artist and Kurt was a young fashion prodigy, so the match was perfect. James couldn’t say a thing; it was business there was nothing wrong with that. So he settled on not worrying about it.
Blaine arrived and could already see people running around getting ready for the shoot; he saw the makeup and hair station and people setting up lights.
He saw Wes walking toward him fast.
“Thank GOD! Give me my coffee”
“Good morning to you too”
Blaine handed him his coffee before he attacked him. Wes took a large gulp and then guided Blaine over to makeup and hair, Blaine stopped him.
“Is Kurt here?” Blaine asked Wes.
Wes looked at him and smiled “yeah he’s over there in the wardrobe” Wes nodded behind him.
Blaine turned around and spotted him. He was standing by a rack of clothes, his hand on his chin in thought while a girl held up pieces together.
“No, put the blue shirt with the tan pants, and I think the white one with the grey pants” the girl hung some pieces and took out some more for Kurt to look at and approve.
"Hey Kurt”
Kurt turned around from his designs and looked right at Blaine. His eyes were a bright blue and unreadable.
“Hello, Blaine,” Kurt said his name in his usual indifferent tone. It made Blaine feel dejected.
They stood in silence for a few awkward moments before
Blaine remember why he was there in front of Kurt.
“Oh I brought you a coffee…” he handed the hot drink to him “…a Grande non-fat mocha, still hot”
Kurt’s eyes soften a bit and gave him a small smile “you remember my coffee order…”
Blaine smiled back at him “of course I do, dummy”
Kurt took a sip from his drink when Wes interrupted “I know you two are having like a moment, but we need to get this show on the road”
Both Kurt and Blaine glared at their friend.
“Ok, so Blaine let’s start at makeup, the lights are up, Kurt are you almost ready?”
Kurt put down his drink and walked over to the rack full of clothing “yeah almost, just bring him over when he’s done.” He resumed his work and started talking to the girl he was with, discussing whatever they were before Blaine interrupted.
Wes grabbed Blaine’s shoulders and guided him back to the makeup station.
“Excited?”
Blaine grinned, both from the excitement and being able to make Kurt smile.
“Yeah, I am”
--------------------------------------
It had been a few hours and Blaine was exhausted.
Stand here.
Look here.
Turn sideways.
Tilt your head this way.
Lift your arm that way.
There was an outfit after an outfit change. That, he didn’t mind so much, Kurt’s clothes were amazing. There were classy, trendy, and well-put-together. He didn’t expect any less from him.
Currently, he was wearing a dark blue suit with satin lapels, a blue and purple square graphic dress shirt, and a dark blue bowtie. He was very happy with the outfit, and he was happier to know Kurt remembered how much he liked bowties, so almost every single suit had one, much to Wes objection, but was easily persuaded when Kurt gave him his best ‘bitch face’ and threaten his life.
They were switching the lights, while the makeup artist touch up his makeup and fixed his hair. Everything was going perfectly.
While he waited for them to finish, his eyes wandered over to where Kurt was standing. He was currently having a very lively conversation with one of the tech guys, a very cute and sexy tech guy.
Blaine watched as Kurt spoke and flirted with the guy. He noticed the way Kurt would move around him. Little touches here and there. He would give him some intense looks and seldom lost eye contact. The guy was getting flustered, but he couldn’t stop looking at Kurt, he was soft giggles and shy smiles. To Blaine, it looked like a lion playing with his prey. And it was sexy.
He wondered what had happened to his baby penguin because the man in front of him was anything but.
He was brought out of his thoughts when he notices the guy taking out a piece of paper and writing down something, probably his number Blaine thought and handed it to Kurt. Kurt took it and slid it into his pocket he said something to the man while he slid a finger playfully down his chest. The man smiled at Kurt before he turned around and resumed whatever he was doing.
The whole exchange made Blaine green with envy, he had seen Kurt flirt before and every time it happened he wanted to wipe the stupid smile off the other man’s face, push Kurt against a wall, and ravish his mouth.
Blaine’s eyes widen a bit when he realized he had just fantasized about kissing Kurt. He had never felt anything like that before, especially about him. But he couldn’t deny the jealousy he felt when he thought about Kurt being with those men.
The revelation left Blaine stunned.
Kurt turned around smiling and caught Blaine as he was staring at him. Kurt grinned and winked at him and then walked over to his station.
Blaine quickly looked down as he tried to suppress a blush. He was embarrassed by being caught, but mostly because of Kurt winking at him, it was one of the sexiest things he had ever seen him do.
Blaine gained his composure and started to pose again, while the photographer continued snapping his camera. He tried to stay focused, but his mind kept drifting to Kurt standing off to the side looking gorgeous and sexy.
He couldn’t wait until it was over, but then again he didn’t want the day to be over with Kurt.
So he decided maybe the day didn’t have to end so soon.
----------------------------------
Kurt tried not to look, he did, but he couldn’t help but stare at Blaine. He looked delectable while they took picture after picture.
He thought taking the job was maybe not a good idea.
He was unsettled; when Blaine brought him a coffee Kurt was over the moon. He never expected it. He thought he had been such an asshole to him, he didn’t think Blaine would want to be around him anymore.
He hated being so distant from him. He wished he could just be like he used to be when he was friends with Blaine. It was so much easier than being the ice queen he was whenever he was with Blaine.
But he couldn’t help it; it was just an automatic response his mind had to protect himself.
The shoot was almost over, which made him a little blue. He didn’t want it to end. They had spoken here and there, whenever Blaine had a wardrobe change. Those were the hardest moments for Kurt, no pun intended he thought.
Blaine would shamelessly strip in front of him and his assistant, and it was brewing feelings inside him he couldn’t possibly take care of.
Blaine’s body was perfect like he remembered. And Kurt couldn’t have been more horrified that he probably was sporting a permanent blush every time he caught a glimpse of Blaine’s skin. He was glad in his choice of wearing a long form-fitting sweater to wear.
He had been with many men and had done a lot of things in his day, so he hated being reduced to a blushing teenager around a barely dressed Blaine.
So he decided to distract himself, he caught the eye of a very hot tech guy; he was nice and charming. So Kurt put his best effort to get the sexy guy's number. He succeeded of course.
When he turned around he caught Blaine staring at him. He had probably seen the whole exchange, but Kurt didn’t care so he just smiled at him and winked over at him, and walked away.
He didn’t know what possessed him to do it, but he decided not to dwell on it.
The shoot was over and he started to pack away the clothes so he could head to the studio. It was still around 4 pm so he decided to stop in the office to check on Rebecca and then go home to get ready for his dinner with Rachel. He thought he would maybe call the guy and ask him to go out for drinks after.
Blaine had stepped out of the small dressing tent and started to gather his things. Wes had gotten bored and decided to go to this office to finish some work so it was only him and Kurt.
“So that was fun” Blaine gave him a large beautiful grin that made Kurt’s heart flutter.
Kurt gave him a small smile “yeah it was fun. I can’t wait to see the prints”
They stood there in awkward silence before Blaine spoke again
“So I was wondering if you were doing anything later…uhm…tonight”
Kurt looked at him in surprise, caught off-guard
“I-I…tonight?”
Blaine’s face fell a little “oh, you probably have plans
or something…”
He quickly regained his composure “No, I don’t have anything plan tonight, why?” Kurt said nonchalantly.
Blaine grinned and eyes lit up “well I have to go to the studio for a while and I’ll be out around ten, so I was wondering if you wanted to go out for drinks since it would be a little late for dinner”
Kurt raised an eyebrow at him “yeah because it went so well last time…are you not worried to be seen with me?”
“What! No, Kurt, the paparazzi seem to be always around, I don’t care, and I’m not going to let them stop me from hanging out with my friend” he said honestly.
Kurt’s heart swelled a bit. He was glad Blaine still considered him his friend and didn’t care to be seen with him. His thought went back to the conversation he had with James. He didn’t want to cause Blaine any problems, but he was still angry about the encounter. What a perfect way to defy James' request.
“I’m having dinner with Rachel, so I’ll meet you after” he knew he shouldn’t, deep down he knew he was digging himself into a giant hole he might not be able to get out of, but spending time with Blaine just brought back many good memories.
Blaine grinned excitedly at him “awesome, so I have to leave, but ill TX you the location later”
Kurt smiled and nodded.
“I’ll see you later”
Blaine turned around and headed out.
Kurt worked on packing his things. His assistant looked at him with a knowing smirk. He just rolled his eyes at her and smiled.
While they worked he noticed the photographer’s iPod was still on from the shoot. He stopped suddenly when he heard a familiar tune coming out of the speakers.
My heart stops when you look at me
Just one touch, now baby I believe
This is real, so take a chance
And don’t ever look back, don’t ever look back
We drove to Cali and got drunk on the beach
Got a motel and built a fort out of sheets
I finally found you, my missing puzzle piece
I’m complete
Let’s go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We could dance until we die
You and I, we’ll be young forever
I ’ma get your heart racing in my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Kurt couldn’t remember the last time he had heard the song and made his heart ache painfully.
It reminded him of the day he had met a hazel eye boy that had taken his heart from the moment he had stopped him at the bottom of a marbled staircase.
Maybe it would have been easier to never have met Blaine, but deep down inside he knew that every moment he had spent with Blaine was worth all the heartache and the pain he had lived through.
Kurt finished packing and headed outside into the cold afternoon air.
He didn’t know what to expect that night, and it made him anxious. So he chose not to think about it, and just decided to think about what outfit he was going to wear.
It had to be perfect.
