Vampires have always lived among humans. The small town on Lima was heavily influenced by Vampires, run by them actually. Burt Hummel was the founder of the community and Coach Sue Sylvester was his second. They protected the humans, everyone either had a vampire protector or they went unprotected. Kurt Hummel wasn’t a protector, he wasn’t that old either. He and his twin sister Quinn were the only vampires in that tiny town to have been born vampires.

Kurt walked down the stairs, it was still early but he always stopped for coffee before school. “Going to school!” He called over his shoulder.

“Alright,” his dad called back, “Don’t wait for Quinn she already left.”

Kurt paused and poked his head into the living room where his dad was sitting catching up on the scores from some game.

“Did she say why?” Kurt asked coming in more and leaning against the frame.

“Puck got into a fight.”

“I am not surprised.” Kurt looked at the time, “Well I better get going if I want to get coffee.” Kurt began turning around until his father cleared his throat and stood up blocking the doorway. He raised an eyebrow, “Yes daddy?” Kurt said with his cutesy voice, knowing the exact conversation that was about to arise.

“You need to find someone, Kurt.” Burt said, “You are expected to.”

“I know, because I am your son. I get it dad I really do, but there isn’t anyone who doesn’t already have protection that I want to protect. Well either that or they don’t want it.” Kurt’s lip pouted out. He had this discussion with his dad at least three times a day and it was tiresome.

Kurt let go of the strap of his bag and placed his hands on dad’s shoulder. “I’ll be fine dad. I will find someone, but give me time.”

“Quinn has Puck and Rachel,” Burt pointed out.

“I’m not my twin dad.” Kurt dropped his hands and felt his eyes water, “People don’t accept me for one of two reasons. I’m a vampire,” Kurt lifted one finger, “Or because I’m gay and out and proud and all that.” Kurt finished lifting a second one.

“Kurt,” Burt sighed.

“You know it’s true dad, don’t even try to deny it.” Kurt folded his arms over his chest and the strap of his bag slipped down a bit.

Burt sighed and stepped aside, “This is done, kiddo.”

“It never is.” Kurt murmured slipping past his dad and going to his car.

Kurt had an immunity to the effects of the sun. It bothered him, but not like it did most vampires. A counter effect to that though was silver, it burned him more easily, like a huge allergic reaction.

Kurt slipped into his car and started it up. He needed to get to the Lima Bean, get his non-fat mocha and get to school before he was late. He sped, literally, to the Lima Bean and got out and into the line. As he waited he was run into.

Kurt hissed whipping around. “Watch where you’re go-” he cut off looking at the young man before him, fear in his eyes. He took a deep breath and held out his hand to the man. “I’m sorry, you just startled me.”

The man nodded, “Well, I should have been paying attention to where I was going.”

Kurt raised an eyebrow, “Come on I was just blocking the doorway.” Kurt had no idea what he was doing but he felt himself smiling a bit at him, “Let me at least get you a coffee.”

The man nodded and gave him this huge smile and held out his hand, “I’m Blaine.”

Kurt felt his heart flutter, “Kurt.” He opened the door more so Blaine could go it. He did and Kurt couldn’t help but check him out. He was cute.

When they got up to the counter cute gives a sweet smile to the barista, “I’ll have a Grande Non-fat Mocha, and a…” he drifts off looking at Blaine who clears his throat.

“A medium drip.”

Kurt repeats it and hands the girl the money, “Keep the change.” He says as they walk to the pick up station. “So,” Kurt says as he leans against the counter to wait for their coffee, “What brings you here.”

“Oh, it was on the way to my new school.”

“Hmm, really?” Kurt’s tongue flicked over his lips as he tried not to sound too hopeful, “Where?”

Blaine raised an eyebrow, “Are you going to stalk me?”

Kurt snorted, “Nah, not good-looking enough,” he teased then said, “I was just wondering because I was maybe wondering it was going to be the same school I go to. McKinley.”

Blaine’s eyes widened, “Y-you’re in school?”

Kurt nodded, “Yes, I am.” He smirked a bit then let out a soft sigh, “I really am only a teenager.”

Blaine nodded, “I’m going to McKinley too.”

Their orders were called and Kurt looked up. He walked over and took them handing Blaine his medium drip. “Well then beautiful, I hope to see you there.”

Kurt flashed him a smile as he walked out of the Lima Bean and slipped into his car. He took a sip of the mocha and sighed. His head fell back on the rest for a minute before placing his cup in the holder and driving to school.
