"Okay, shoot," Kurt said, handing Blaine his white mocha non-fat latte. "Give me the scoop on that young prick."

"I can see someone has been given the ole'-Sebastian charm—does he still think of himself as the greatest thing since, like, Etta James or Beyonce."

"God, Etta. Yes, hahaha. We must be talking about the same Sebastian then because yes, he thinks that not only he is charming and attractive, but he is the most attractive and talented being since the dawn of man. Hell, anything superficial he deems himself king over and sometimes its honestly hard not to laugh."

"You'll appreciate this then. I had known Sebastian from middle school all the way up until he moved. In middle school, he was a totally different person than the person you've seen. I remember the first day of seventh grade, we had just been released from our homerooms and we were going to our first periods. Mine was History. While walking there though, there was this group of six or seven soon-to-be jocks. They thought they were so cool with their little middle-school letterman jackets."

Kurt smiled. My did this already sound like a situation that happens at McKinley.

"So just as I spotted them, they ran up to this really short kid. He was wearing this adorable blue and red blazer and had his hair perfectly combined. He looked like your average, eager pupil. Anyway, these kids went up to him and immediately harassed him for his looks."

"Hey Sebastian, what, did your mommy dress you this morning?" one of the jocks yelled.

"What? No. I got up early and picked this one out, especially. Never hurts to make a good first impression, doesn't it?"

"Watch your tone, Sebastian. You're starting this year off already on my bad list."

"Wow, you know what a list is, congratulations Tommy! Would you care for me to tutor you next in how to organize your lists into coherent thoughts and phrases?"

Blaine and Kurt both laughed.

"Oh my gosh," Kurt stopped Blaine. "You mean to tell me that Sebastian actually used to be...good?"

Blaine nodded. "Not only good, but also kind of cute. For the longest time, I looked up to Sebastian. He had this air around him—like any persons' shit would just bounce right off of him like it was nothing. I had always wished I could do that—pretend like the things people say didn't get to me. Eventually that came to be, but I bet you can empathize at least in your middle school years that proved difficult."

Kurt nodded now in agreement. "Definitely yes. So, then what happened to Sebastian? It sounds like through the years he's kept his sass and snarky side, but do you know of anything that made him suppress himself into the dark side?"

"I'm not too sure. All I know is that Sebastian and I were kind of close in middle school—at least by the end of it. And part of me, all that time later when he asked me out on a date, made me think that he was the same from middle school. But that was silly of me. People may look the same; but people change, god dammit do people change. For better or for worse, for richer or poorer, for the right or for the wrong reasons—people change."

"Amen," Kurt said, sipping his peppermint mocha with understood appreciation.

"So high school came around. Both of our parents decided to send us to this all boys prep school because it was best for our education, given the area and public school we would have attended. When we got there, Sebastian transformed. Don't get me wrong, I didn't know of his extreme dark side until the night he took me out. But there were definitely signs to warn me."

"Like what?"

"Well, like we stopped hanging out as much as we had used to. It used to be at least a weekly thing—definitely a multiple-time thing on the weekends. Well then the time came down to strictly once per week. Then bi-monthly. Then just monthly. We blamed it on sports and the new level of workload. But that wasn't true. I found out Sebastian had been inculcated into the so called "jock" clique of the prep school and he was trying to separate his old life/friendships (me) with his new ones."

"That's horrible," Kurt gasped. "Was he rude about it too?"

"Not completely. Whenever we hung out, at least in the moment, it felt the same. But looking back, he was a lot less involved. He didn't care what we did; didn't have as much of an opinion on things. It was more video games and less talking. By the time he asked me on a date, we hadn't spent quality time together in months. I was so stupid to think that the reason was he wanted to cut us off from being friends before we lept into being so-called 'teenage lovers.' But that was stupid of me. Relationships are built on trust and respect, which is everything a friendship stands for; to have a lasting relationship, there needs to be a level of friendship before there can be anything else, you know?"

Kurt nodded. "I understand. I'm sorry that happened to you—I can understand where you're coming from though. It sounds like I would have done the same thing. By that time, your hormones are rushing and you see all of your friends go off and have their first date and their first snuggle and their first hand-holding in the hallway and eventually their first kiss. At first it doesn't really bother you—most of the things your friends tell you sound slobbery and actually quite a turn off—forget the lady parts too."

Blaine chuckled. Kurt's heart beat faster. "But there comes a point—that one story; a story that could have been told a thousand times before and no reaction—when you hear something and it just makes you so sad. You wish with all your heart it could be you, but it isn't and you're so jealous. So what do you do? You act happy for that person. But you lower your standards. Looks become less important, personality becomes less of an issue, intelligence, smell, touch, height. All these factors that you used to think were okay to have, you throw out. And the first guy that comes your way, you throw yourself on."

"Its like you read my mind, Kurt Hummel."

"I'm good at that often times. Lucky for you, that first guy wasn't straight."

"Ohhhhhh. Ouch. That must have really hurt."

"Time heals all wounds—and thank the lord they did because that person turned out to later become my step brother and I wouldn't change the current relationship we have."
"So one of those 'glass half empty; half full' kind of things....mixed with a positive attitude?"

"More like full because I got so freaking thirsty."

Blaine laughed some more. Things stopped for a second. Kurt's cheeks turned red. His heart beat faster. He stared at Blaine. Blaine stared at him. Neither moved for a few moments.

His eyes, oh my god, his eyes. Does he want to...I want to...but I don't want to ruin anything...

"So it's nearly two o'clock!" Blaine suddenly shouted, pulling out his iPhone. "I have to be back by four to help my mom prepare for my dad's birthday dinner."

"Oh, yes, that's totally cool yes. I have to go home and help Carole..with...those things I...yes.." Kurt retorted, trying to keep his pitifulness to a minimum around Blaine.

They both got up with their belongings and made their way out of the store. Kurt was actually curious as to which car Blaine was driving and walked with Blaine until they stopped infront of a Lexus convertible.

"Is this your car?!" Kurt shouted.

"No!" Blaine quickly said, quite nervously. "My—my car is in the shop; my mom so graciously lent me hers so I could drive here."

"Oh, that was really nice of her. Well..."

"Well..."

"I—I had a lovely time today Blaine. It was great to meet you," Kurt said, trying to contain all of his emotions from leaping over onto Blaine.

"Me too. Would...would it be wrong to ask if we could do it again sometime soon?"

Kurt smiled. "I think that would be perfectly acceptable."

"Then how about next Sunday. Same time. Same place?"

"One week from today. I'll be waiting. See you then, Blaine," Kurt said.

"See you then, Kurt."

Another moment of tense staring and Kurt broke it with a hug.

Oh my god. He smells like apple crisp and fresh pine mixed with the fruity-sweetness of his hair gel. Oh my god.

The hug lasted all of three seconds and Kurt waved, bowed his head, and made his way to his Explorer. He got in and started the car. The radio came on to his favorite song at the momet, Ellie Goulding's Anything Could Happen.
How appropriate.

"Hey Kurt!" Kurt turned around. Blaine smiled his head out of the window. "We never discussed those pairs of wings."

Kurt smiled. And then an idea was hatched. An uncontrollable force swept over Kurt for the next minute. He unbuckled his seatbelt, and jumped out of the Explorer. He raced over to the Lexus to Blaine still sitting, red-cheeked and perfect in his window. Kurt ran up to the side of the Lexus and thrust his right hand behind Blaine's neck.

"Well I guess we'll have to leave that and a few more things hanging till next week," he said and gently placed his lips on Blaine's. Blaine swept his hand across Kurt's cheek and pulled him closer. His lips were soft and his breath still held all of its white-mocha goodness. Kurt pulled back and they both blushed.

"Now that I think of it—a week seems too long, doesn't it?" Blaine laughed. He was blushing so hard but his cheeks were so full of life it made Kurt's heart melt again.

"I'll message you tonight, Blaine," Kurt smiled back. "And this time I promise it'll actually be in your ask box and not posted across my blog!"

Blaine laughed. "Adios, Kurt"

Blaine backed out, waved a few more times as Kurt stood there watching, and made his way back to the interstate.
And then Kurt's fireworks went off for a second time as he caught Blaine's wobbly-leg-syndrome.
