As Kurt's sense of euphoria finally started to fade about twenty minutes after reading Blaine's message, he couldn't help but feel giddy for himself. He went back to Blaine's blog, eager to reply when he saw a recent post by Blaine that said:

Sometimes you're never prepared for what life may bring you, but that doesn't always mean it's a bad thing.

Kurt immediately blushed.

Oh my god. Could that...I think that's about me. Maybe? I...let's go for it; what the heck do we have to lose, right? Play it cool, Hummel.

Kurt went to Blaine's ask.

I should think that you stalked my blog just enough to know I could never turn down an offer for coffee. Where's a good middle ground? I live near Lima and would hate for either of us to drive all the way to other's city. At least the first time ;)

Send. God those winky faces you never knew what people's reactions were going to be. Some thought they were cute and even a good tease method; others thought the use of them meant the user was a pedophile. But Kurt went for it.

While waiting for Blaine's message, Kurt also concocted a vague message to see if Blaine would take the bait to continue their dual conversation.

My my just when you think life can get you down, someone somewhere miraculously turns into your guardian angel.

After scrolling for a little while, Kurt noticed the time. It was nearly a quarter to midnight and he was popped. The excitement drained him and soon, he was fast asleep, eager to wake.

The next morning, Kurt opened up his computer and saw the little red number pop-up on his message icon and immediately clicked.

I'm from right outside of Cleveland. If we both drove to the middle, that'd be right around Mansfield. There's a Starbucks right off of Exit 176. How's Sunday around noon sound? And guardian angel, eh? I can dig it. Does that also mean I have a pair of those cute wings too? ;)

Sunday. That was just under 24 hours from now. But, as per the usual, Kurt was completely free this and every weekend that followed. The only thing on his calendar in the next six months was Rachel's birthday bash in two weeks, on the 18th. And then a week later it was Christmas.

Kurt replied:

Mansfield. Sunday. Noon. It all sounds great. We'll talk wings with coffee. See you then :)

Send. Lord he was happy. He had barely enough time to go to the bathroom and comeback before his phone was ringing off the hook.

Two missed calls from Rachel Berry.

Oh lord, what could the child possibly want now?

Kurt dialed Rachel back and it took all of one ring before Rachel erupted on the other side of the line.

"OH MY GOSH. SUNDAY AT NOON WITH A BOY. KURT OH MY GOSH WHO IS THIS GUY. IM STALKING HIS BLOG AND HE IS SOOOO CUTE. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING THIS FROM ME! EVEN WITH THIS HANGOVER, I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON YOU DIDN'T WANT TO HANGOUT LAST NIGHT AND I JUST HAVE TO SAY THAT'S QUITE OKAY BECAUSE I THINK THIS IS REALLY—"

"Rachel! Rachel! Rachel! Slow down, oh my gosh! I'll tell you everything but how did you know—"

"Well you posted it on your blog, silly!"

Shit. I should really take a course on to how to properly use technology before I mess anything else up.

"oh. Shit. Let me call you right back!" and Kurt hung up in the middle of Rachel's 7th but-but-but.

He went to Blaine's blog and tried to resend the message.

Sorry. I accidentally replied and posted your last message. But yes, Mansfield. Sunday. Noon. Sounds great !!

Kurt redialed Rachel, waiting for Blaine's response.

"Hi, Rachel? Yes sorry! Anyway. What do you wanna know?"

"Well for starters, when did you become such the flirtatious slutbag!"

"Ugh Rachel. Really? Its barely even ten in the morning and already with the name calling? I am not a—"

"Oh, come on Kurt. You don't have to pretend or hide anything; your secrets are safe with me."

"Secret with the size of your mouth, yeah okay," Kurt mummeled.

"Uhm, WHAT was that?!"

"Nothing. I said it's nothing. We just started talking last night and he's from a few hours outside of Lima and he seems really nice and I can't wait to meet him and that is that."

"Cute, what do you think you're going to do with him?!" Rachel demanded.

"What?!...I mean talk and get to know each other and drink coffee but—"

"YEAH I KNOW THAT but like—are you going to kiss with him?!"

"Wha—"

"Give him a little bit of that Hummel/Hudson tongue."

"OKAY! ENOUGH. NO. WE'RE JUST GOING TO GET COFFEE, RACHEL."

"Oh boo, you whore."

"Yeah I'm the whore, okay."

"What's that supposed to mean, Kurt."

"It means that while I was spending my night talking to a cute boy and trying to make a good impression, at least I wasn't downing a jack and ginger to sooth all of my insecurities, starting with my raspy voice, large nose, and the fact that my boyfriend is a complete dunderhead."

Oh shit.

The line went dead silent for a moment.

"Rachel, I'm so—"

*Click* Kurt heard as Rachel hung up the phone. Feeling awful, he attempted to text her.

Rachel. I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. It was just you weren't letting me speak. That was rude of me, and inconsiderate and above all else, not true.

Within ten minutes, Kurt received a one-liner from Rachel.

Take your raging fag problems and stick them with someone else, I'm done.

SHE. DID. NOT. JUST. SAY. THAT.

For a moment, Kurt lost his sense of reality. He can handle people using the word 'gay' and 'fag' because, though he indeed love the male species, the use of that word made the user look: a) uneducated b) like a complete asshole c) stupid and d) a waste of tears. But the fact that his friend or now ex-friend had the audacity to pitch a bitch fit and use that, in that manner and context—after all the shit that Kurt had put up with. No, he was tired of it and this tipped the scale. He replied back with a one liner as well:

I didn't know cunts had the capacity to fight fire with fire.

He wasn't proud of that word; but he as Janice Ian said best, he wasn't going to let that, scum-sucking-road-whore get the best of him anymore. He immediately blocked Rachel's number and stormed downstairs to the kitchen table where Finn, Carole, and Burt sat eating their breakfast and enjoying the paper.

"I don't care what relation ANYONE has to Rachel Berry; from now on, she is NEVER allowed into this household!!!!"

"Dude! What the hell!? What happened," Finn exclaimed.

"That....that....BITCH!"

"WATCH IT," Carole and Burt both shouted, trying to keep both boys from an altercation.

"SHE CALLED ME A FAG, Dad!"

And to all that knew Burt Hummel, if there was one thing he wasn't going to put up with, it was intolerance.

"Sounds good enough to me. Sorry Finn, but you'll have to visit Ms. Berry at her own household; I will not have my son subjected to that in, of all places, his own home."

Finn, obviously irritated, stormed up the stairs. Carole went to sooth Finn while Burt stayed behind to talk to Kurt.

"Now, you listen to me, Kiddo. You don't let those words get to you. You know your mother and I wouldn't want that. Nor Carole or even Finn, who just needs to let off some steam. You got that, kiddo? You don't let that hurt you. Now come here," Burt said and embraced Kurt, keeping the tears from rolling down his cheeks. "You're so special Kurt. Don't let this get you."

Kurt, emotional, embraced Burt for a few moments longer before breaking the hug, sniffling.

"Tha---tha—thanks, dad. I know. I'm just going to go to my room for now."

He got in bed and thought. Maybe all of this was too fast. Maybe he was just so sexually frustrated that he was pushing himself out there way too quickly for this. He went on Tumblr to rant but quickly got sidetracked. One new message.

Perfect. And I've been thinking how rushed this feels, but why don't we just think of this as coffee between two long, lost friends, eh? Maybe afterwards...well yeah. See you then :)

If anything, at least both he and Blaine were in the same boat. And so Sunday morning rolled around and Kurt woke up and he ate a quick breakfast and he got dressed and looked his best and finally started his Explorer and set out for Mansfield.

End Notes: What shall happen with Kurt and Rachel and how will all of this affect not only Kurt and Blaine, but Kurt with Sebastian and even the rest of Glee? Stay tuned :)
