Oh my god. Oh my god. He is literally going to think I am SO creepy. How is it that you constantly manage to make things the worst for yourself, holy shit. Okay, okay. Calm down. Just think.
He looked up to the big poster plastered above his dresser that read "WWB D"
WWB D. WWB D. What Would Barbara Do?
(For those wondering, the poster did in fact contain that awkward spacing because it used to be WWBWD, for What Would Blair Waldorf Do, Blair being the head bitch in charge from Kurt's favorite TV show, Gossip Girl. There were only two problems with that slogan, anytime Kurt thought what Blair Waldorf would do, it was make up with your enemies with a straight-up bitch face and buying out the entirety of 5th avenue, which Kurt substituted for the Lima Mall. However, Burt soon had his reservations with that slogan and thus, Kurt took away the 3rd W to create WWB D.)
Why can't I just be Blair Waldorf instead?! Ugh okay. Channel your Barbara. Channel your Barbara. What would she do....well she is on the View a lot and she does like asking a lot of questions so....no that's Walters idiot. Okay stop. Barbara wouldn't do this. She's a diva. She would just be like 'Yeah, I think you're cute. So what?!' Okay Hummel, go digging for that ego.
Kurt logged back on to the computer and waited for everything to boot-up.
Why are you so stressed about this? He gets these kinds of complements everyday from strangers and he always thanks them. This will probably be no different. And besides, you don't even know the guy.
Well yet at least.
Kurt finally logged back onto his Tumblr and sure enough when he got there, there was that little-red number one hanging over the mail icon, a sight Kurt rarely saw except for when he and some of his online friends fangirled/fanboyed over the latest installment of some television show where their favorite characters did something beyond words and air could provide. Kurt clicked on the mail icon and sure enough there was a message from non-other than Blaine.
You shouldn't be so quick to complement others tastes when you have some of the absolute best I've ever seen. I can't believe I hadn't already followed you. And me, handsome? Thanks but have you seen yourself? :)
Kurts heart skipped about seventeen beats in the course of the next five minutes. He read and re-read and backwards read and even attempted to read Blaine's message upside down to see if this was some sort of practical joke.
Oh my god. He just...wait did he....
Kurt quickly clicked back to his dashboard and sure enough:
He clicked on the followers and the top of the list was BowtiesAndBoggarts
"OH MY GOD. I CANT EVEN. Yessssssss—"Kurt shrieked.
"What is it honey?!" said Carole, bursting through the door and nearly causing Kurt to fall off of his bed.
"HOLY SHIT CAROLE."
"DICTION!"
"Sorry but next time could you at least call or text when you're on your way home or maybe even yell your home or even at best knock!"
"Oh sorry honey, but yes sure. What's the deal?!"
"Nothing. Just...one of my favorite blogs that I almost idolize and check religiously started following me today."
"That's great news honey!" Carole said emphatically. "Well I'll be downstairs with your father if you need anything." Carole exited and left Kurt to his blog.
Kurt went back to Blaine's ask and thought for a second before typing.
Oh my god you followed me, you totally don't understand how much that made my day! And thanks for complements, they were really sweet. Uhm how was your day?
It wasn't the greatest of messages or the most profound or most romantic, but there needed to be some starting ground between the two of them. Kurt could look at Blaine's blog all day and ask him about things related to his posts, but most of that was just pictures and gifs—nothing too concrete about Blaine. Except the occasional posts of his face. Those said a lot, at the very least in terms of Blaine's style and looks.
God Blaine had the cutest of faces. Bright, hazel colored eyes, the hazel like when the sun shines through the house at sunset or the tint when the coffee and cream are just beginning to coagulate. His dark, curly hair (and more often than not, it was gelled down to perfection). His nose was rounded and cute and no matter what other facial features, Kurt always got lost in Blaine's lips. They were so simple and so soft, yet so enticing. Blaine was, in-short, this adorable and cute creature to Kurt that didn't seem remotely possible to be existence. And all of which, he took pictures that weren't those disgusting duck-faced selfies. They were silly and goofy and just showed how fun Blaine could be.
Kurt left his computer for a little to go downstairs and talk to Carole and Burt about their night. He looked at his phone and scrolled through some of the drunken texts and two voicemails Rachel had left him. She was just that lovely of a friend. He went upstairs to take a shower and work on his nightly facial routine—skin like his doesn't stay at its prim and prime without a little love. All the while, he couldn't escape the thought of Blaine.
Blaine followed him. Blaine commented on his looks and his style. Blaine actually noticed him and looked like he wanted to talk to him. This feeling of being wanted suddenly swept over him and hung to Kurt. The sad truth was that this was the first time he had felt this jovial since the beginning of senior year. All of his so-called friends would ask him how his days are going and converse with him, but when it got down to it—when or if he really ever needed any of them, they didn't seem like the people to come through. And it was funny because Kurt called Rachel his 'best' friend, yet he was sure she would be the first out of any of his McKinley friends to ditch on Kurt.
The fact that this person, miles away, took an interest in just talking to Kurt, rather than pushing his message aside or nonchalantly thanking him meant more than the world could ever imagine.
After finishing up his facial work, Kurt slid into his bed and opened up Tumblr to do his nightly before-bedtime- blogging. He scrolled and reblogged a few posts before noticing he had just received another message. He clicked on the mail icon and the message was short, sweet and melt-your-hear-creys:
It was good. Oddly enough, I couldn't get this idea that a cute boy from my area wanted to talk to me. Would you ever be interested in coffee?
And Kurt, to be as honest as possible, lost his shit in the best of all possible ways.
