4 weeks, that's how much longer Kurt had in his pregnancy now. Just 4 weeks and both he and Blaine were getting anxious to meet their babies. It was the beginning of December and Kurt was busy packing a hospital bag and putting the finishing touches on his birth plan which included no pain medication and natural delivery unless complications arise. "Almost done packing?" Blaine asked as he walked into the nursery where Kurt was packing outfits to take the babies home in. "Almost. Just packing the onesies I designed for the girls." Kurt said picking up a puffy pink leopard printed onesie along with the identical light purple one with the matching little hats and booties. It had already begun to snow and Kurt was worried that they would get snowed in before his due date. He finished packing his hospital bag and then followed Blaine downstairs for lunch. "What do you want to eat?" Blaine asked knowing he was going to regret asking. "2 grilled cheese sandwiches, some bacon, a few pickles and a nice tall glass of apple juice please." Kurt replied rubbing his tummy as Blaine gave him a weird look. "Okay, coming right up." He said got together everything he needed and passing the jar of pickles to Kurt. After lunch they pulled on their coats, hats, mittens and scarves and went for a nice walk around the park.
The next day Kurt decided he wanted to go Christmas shopping. "Blaine please can we go? All I need to do is get something for Rachel, Carole and Mercedes and I'm done." Kurt said pouting. "Fine, but it's got to be quick." Blaine said giving in. "Blaine, hunny, you can't rush perfection. Especially when you are trying to find the perfect gift." Kurt said patting his shoulder. It wound up taking Kurt 4 hours to find all the gifts, gift bags and wrapping paper and finally he was ready to go home. "I'm wrapping everything as soon as we get home." Kurt said putting the last of the bags in the trunk of Blaine's car. "I'll help you and I won't even try to sneak a peek at my gift." Blaine said. "You better not. Ugh Ow, that hurt." Kurt said placing a hand on his huge stomach. "Kurt? What is it?" Blaine asked. "I think I just had a contraction." Kurt said with wide eyes. "Are you sure?" Blaine asked as he started to panic. "Not really but we should go to the hospital just in case I am in labor." Kurt said getting in the car.
When they got to the hospital Kurt was immediately brought to a room to get checked. He had had some more pains in the car but they were a bit irregular. 15 minutes later Kurt waddled over to Blaine. "False alarm. I was experiencing what is known as Braxton Hicks contractions." Kurt said as Blaine wrapped his arms around him.
Once they arrived home Blaine made sure Kurt went and had a nap before Carole made dinner. "So how was shopping?" Carole asked as Blaine sat down at the kitchen island. "It was good till Kurt started getting Braxton Hicks contractions. We were so scared that he was in labor." Blaine said. "I remember those. Finn's father must have brought me to the hospital about 6 or 7 times before I was in actual labor." Carole said laughing at the memory.
Christmas Eve came and so did a huge snow storm. Kurt was now only days away from his due date and he was getting more and more worried about the storm. "Blaine what happens if we get snowed in?" Kurt asked as he rubbed circles on his belly while the babies moved. "We'll deal with it then." Blaine said kissing him. Kurt had been uncomfortable all day and was having back pain and the stupid Braxton Hicks contractions were driving him crazy. Burt, Carole and Finn had gone to Rachel's for the evening and weren't going to be home till later that night. As Kurt was walking to the bathroom the pain in his back suddenly wrapped around his stomach, making it go rock hard. "Ugh Blaine!" Kurt yelled as he grabbed the kitchen table. "What's wrong?" Blaine asked as he looked at his boyfriend. "The pain has moved from my back to my stomach and I really have to pee." Kurt said. "Okay, lean on me and I'll help you get to the bathroom."Blaine said guiding him to the bathroom. A few minutes later Kurt emerged from the bathroom, his face pale. "My water broke." He said as Blaine looked at him in shock. "Um we may have a bigger problem. Your dad just called, they are snowed in at Rachel's and we are snowed in here." Blaine said as Kurt is hit with a contraction. "These babies are coming and I don't want to give birth at home." Kurt said as he started crying. "It's okay Kurt, we will be just fine. All we have to do is time the contractions and once they are really close together like 2 minutes apart I'll call the hospital and have them tell me what to do." Blaine said rubbing Kurt's back as he led him to the couch.
As soon as Kurt was sitting down Blaine grabbed his phone to call Burt. "Hey Burt um Kurt's water broke and he's in labor." Blaine said. "Okay, don't panic Carole bought some stuff in case this would happen. There should be a birthing kit in the bathroom under the sink." Burt said. Blaine ran to the bathroom and found the kit before running back to Kurt. "Okay got the kit." Blaine said. "Okay now all you have to do is time his contractions. There should be a stopwatch in the kit." Burt said. Blaine found it quickly. "Got the stopwatch." Blaine said. "When the contractions are less than 2 minutes apart call me back." Burt said before hanging up. As soon as Blaine was off the phone Kurt tensed up. "Blaine, contraction." Kurt said grabbed Blaine's hand while he timed the contraction. They were about 15 minutes apart so Blaine knew they had some time to wait before the twins made an appearance.
