He grabbed his novel an made his way to the sofa to begin his reading. About halfway through the first chapter though, he had to stop. All he could think about was the feeling of Blaine’s hand on his own, his beautiful hazel eyes and the smiles he flashed him. He had wanted to ask him for his number but he felt it would inappropriate with his boyfriend standing beside him.
He decided to give up on the reading prepare dinner for himself. As he was cutting up mushrooms to put in his mushroom Alfredo, the phone rang.
“Hello?” He answered as he picked it up.
“Hello sweetie!” A female voice rang through the speaker.
“Hi Mom,”
“I was thinking of coming out to New York for a week. Would it be alright if I staye with you?”
“Of course Mom. You’re always welcome here,”
“Great! I’ll be there tomorrow,”
“Okay, I’ll pick you up at JFK. What time does your flight get in?” Kurt asked.
“5:15 PM. I’ll see you soon,”
“Love you,”
“Love you too.”
He pushed the ‘end’ button on his phone and went to continue making his dinner.
The next day, he left at 4:30 to go to John F. Kennedy International airport. He got there at five and saw that the flight from Cleveland Ohio hadn’t landed yet. He waited for a couple of minutes and heard the woman over the PA system announce the arrival of flight 349 from Cleveland.
A few more minutes after that, he saw his mother walking towards him. Once she reached him, she pulled him into a tight hug, “It’s so nice to see you!” Elizabeth Hummel told him.
“It’s nice to see you too Mom. We have to get going though. I bought us tickets to go and see The Book of Mormon!”
Kurt bought thee tickets as a surprise, knowing his mother would appreciate it. Aside from Rachel Berry, his friend from high school, his mother was the only other person who enjoyed Broadway as much as he did.
“That’s wonderful!” His mother said in delight.
They left the airport and made their way back to Kurt’s apartment. Once at the apartment, they changed into fancier, more appropriate attire for a Broadway musical. They left the apartment and made their way to the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
Once at the theatre, they were ushered to their seats. They were in the fifth row and right smack in the middle.
“These are wonderful seats.” Elizabeth commented.
“They are, aren’t they? I was surprise no one had bought them already,” Kurt agreed.
There was about 10 minutes to show time and no one had claimed the seats right next to Kurt. Just before the lights had dimmed, two men walked down the aisle and sat down next to Kurt. Kurt turned to see who had sat down and was pleasantly surprised to see it was Blaine. He had his boyfriend with him but it really didn’t matter to Kurt. He got to see Blaine again.
Blaine also turned to see who he would be seated beside for the rest of the evening. His eyes went wide when he saw Kurt but he flashed him one of his wondrous smiles. They both turned their heads to face the stage as the music began and tried to concentrate on the action happening in front of them.
When the first act had finished, Kurt got up to go use the restroom and was aware that Blaine had arisen as well. Once they reached the washroom, Blaine spoke, “Kurt,” He whispered. He looked down before continuing, “This may sound weird, but I feel connection with us,” He said as he kept his head down, staring at the tiles.
Kurt was shocked to hear this but responded, “Me too. I couldn’t stop thinking about you. Can’t stop thinking about you,”
Blaine finally looked up with a smile plastered on his lovely face. He didn’t say anything; he just stared into Kurt’s ocean blue eyes while Kurt stared into Blaine’s hazel ones.
“I need to see you again,” He stated.
“Tomorrow. At the Starbucks at 103rd & Broadway,” Kurt said enthusiastically.
“Okay,”
A woman’s voice came over the speakers, signalling the commence of the second act. Kurt and Blaine left the restroom and made their way back to their seats. Jeremiah looked suspicious but didn’t ask questions. He merely held Blaine’s hand when he had seated.
Kurt turned his head forward to enjoy the rest of the show with a smile on his face.
