Rachel looked stunning as she made her way to the microphone. She'd taken full advantage of the Valentines theme and was wearing a gorgeous red, lace-covered shift dress and sexy black stilettos. Blaine had also opted for a touch of red, wearing grey slacks, a slim fitting black shirt and a cute red bow-tie, which Kurt had lovingly helped him fasten. It made him look adorable, dapper and sexy as hell all at once, and Kurt beamed as he watched him take his seat in front of the piano. Finn whooped at his side as Rachel introduced herself and Blaine, and the two began another amazing set, focusing as planned on slushy love songs.
During their performance of Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time, a small redhead came and stood near to Kurt, swaying in time to the music and humming along. As the song ended, and Kurt and Finn gave a rousing cheer, the girl turned to Kurt with a bemused grin.
"D'you know these guys?" She shouted above the noise and gestured to the stage.
"Sure do." Kurt nodded with a grin. "They're amazing, right?"
"Totally." The girl agreed. "Hot, too - especially the pianist guy."
Kurt laughed, his heart swelling in his chest.
And he's all mine, honey.
'Oh, I love this song." The girl swooned as Blaine played the opening bars of I'll Be There. "So, d'you know if he's seeing anyone right now?"
"Uh ... yeah, I think he might be." Kurt nodded again, suddenly feeling a little sorry for the girl.
"Figures. All the sexy ones are taken. Or gay."
"Or both, in his case." Kurt mused.
"Oh god, really? Ugh ... life sucks."
"Sometimes it really does." Kurt agreed.
"D'you think he and his man would be up for a threesome?"
Kurt almost choked on his mouthful of white wine and laughed.
"Um ... I don't really think so, no."
"Fuck. I'll bet he's just as hot too." The girl sighed.
"Nope, Blaine's the hot one."
"Blaine. Bow-tie Blaine ... hot, sexy, bow-tie Blaine."
"Don't listen to this one." Finn suddenly butted into the conversation. "Kurt's just as hot as Blaine, right man?"
"Oooh, where's Kurt? Is he here?" The redhead asked enthusiastically.
Kurt simply gave a bashful nod as Finn pointed at his head.
"Ah."
"Yeah."
All three stayed silent for a little while.
"So, a definite 'no' to the threesome thing then?" The girl asked in a quieter voice.
Kurt shook his head with a sad smile. "Sorry, sweetie."
"And ... uh ... how about this stud-muffin?" She nodded up towards Finn who cleared his throat and shuffled uncomfortably, his eyes never leaving the stage.
"He's with the gorgeous brunette." Kurt said, gesturing towards Rachel.
"No honey, that's you, remember?!" She quipped. "But actually, yeah - she's pretty foxy too. Hey … dude - threesome?" She leaned over and nudged Finn, who visibly squirmed where he stood.
"Uh, no ... but thanks." He gave a bashful lop-sided smile and looked more than a little relieved that it was time to cheer again for Rachel up on the stage. The redhead gave a small disheartened shrug and wandered away in search of someone else to proposition, while Kurt and Finn simply looked at one another and laughed.
Rachel announced that she was taking a little break, but that her 'able assistant' was going to keep everyone entertained for a little while. Kurt's eyes widened, as he had no idea that this was coming, and he led the cheers as Blaine began to introduce his first solo song.
"Thanks guys. OK, so while the lovely Rachel rests that beautiful voice, I'm gonna sing a couple of tunes for you. The second one is self-penned, so please be gentle with me on that one, but in the meantime this is a bit of an old favourite of mine ... so, yeah - enjoy guys ... and listen, thank you so much for coming out tonight!"
The audience cheered again, and Blaine played the opening bars to Billy Joel's Just The Way You Are. His voice sounded like silk, and Kurt almost melted into a puddle. At one point during the song Finn put a hand on Kurt's shoulder, clearly touched that Kurt's bottom lip was trembling upon hearing his step-brother singing such emotional lyrics. Kurt gave him a weak smile, and patted his hand gratefully.
"He thinks you're pretty amazing, y'know." Finn leaned in and smiled.
Kurt blushed. "Feeling's mutual." He breezed, and Finn gave an understanding nod.
Blaine's song came to a close and he looked so humble as he took in his applause.
"You guys are an amazing audience - seriously, thank you." He took a moment and steeled himself up. "OK, so as promised, this is a song I wrote very recently. I'd like to sing it for all the lovers in the room, but it was written for and is dedicated to someone I pretty much think the world of right now. So ... uh, yeah ... this is for Kurt."
Kurt clutched a hand to his mouth, and a familiar voice somewhere in the room led the cheering after a moment's pause.
"Wooooooo - go, Kurt! SO hot!"
The audience laughed and then cheered, and Kurt and Finn gave one another a knowing glance. The redhead was obviously still around and enjoying herself immensely. Blaine gave a bemused chuckle and began to play a slow, gentle intro on the piano. And then he sang ...
I've been alone
Surrounded by darkness
I've seen how heartless
The world can be
I've seen you crying
You felt like it's hopeless
I'll always do my best
To make you see
Baby, you're not alone
Cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna bring us down
Cause nothing can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
Our love is all we need to make it through
The song had a gospel undertone, and Kurt recalled having told Blaine how much he loved that type of music. He stood in complete awe as the song continued, his eyes slowly filling with tears.
Now I know it ain't easy
But it ain't hard trying
Every time I see you smiling
And I feel you so close to me
And you tell me
Baby, you're not alone
Cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna bring us down
Cause nothing can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
Our love is all we need to make it through
The next part was rousing and passionate, and Kurt could barely breathe as he watched Blaine beat down on the piano keys like his life depended on it.
I still have trouble
I trip and stumble
Trying to make sense of things sometimes
I look for reasons
But I don't need 'em
All I need is to look in your eyes
And I realize
Baby I'm not alone
Cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna take us down
Cause nothing can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
Our love is all we need to make it through, ooh
Cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna bring us down
Cause nothing, nothing, nothing can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
You know our love is all we need
Our love is all we need to make it through
And all too soon, the performance was over. Following the final note, Blaine breathed a heavy sigh and turned to face the audience with a modest smile. The applause was relentless and Blaine stood up to take a little bow, catching Kurt's eye as he rose from it. Kurt knew that he looked a mess right now, cheeks streaked with tears and shoulders shaking in an effort to control the sobs, but all he could do was cheer and clap until it hurt. He'd never felt so overcome with emotion in his entire life. Blaine grinned back at him and then jogged gently over to where he and Finn were stood. He cupped Kurt's face in his hands and then leaned in to kiss one of his tear-stained cheeks.
"You OK?" He uttered as quietly as possible into Kurt's ear above the cheers. All Kurt could do was nod with a watery smile. Finn patted Blaine proudly on the back with a wink, and Blaine made his way back to the piano as Rachel returned to her microphone.
"Awww - aren't my boys the cutest?" She beamed. "So sweet. And this one can sing, right?" She gestured to Blaine and he received another big cheer.
Three more songs followed, two from Rachel and one more heart-warming duet. It was with a heavy sigh that Rachel thanked the audience again for their support and announced their final song, and Kurt was surprised to see Blaine rise from the piano and walk to the front of the stage with his microphone.
"So guys, as this is our Valentines special we have to end on a lovely, sexy high, and there's no better song than this one to do that. But we do need just one more person to help us perform it ..." She walked towards Kurt, whose face dropped as Finn grabbed his shoulders to keep him from running away. "... And you've already been briefly introduced to him. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage ... Mr Kurt Hummel!"
Kurt protested for a moment, but Finn was too strong as he walked him steadily forward towards the steps to the stage. He reluctantly shrugged as he made his way to his friends, poking his tongue out at Blaine as he handed him a microphone. He mouthed 'I am going to kill you' to Rachel before smiling sweetly into the audience with a tiny curtsey.
"OK, so we're gonna need a backing track for this one ..." Rachel chuckled "... so - music, maestro, please!"
A very familiar intro rang out around the room and Blaine nudged Kurt playfully on the shoulder as he raised his microphone to his lips and the audience whooped.
If you see a faded sign
at the side of the road
that says 'Fifteen miles to the ...
Rachel joined in:
Loooooooove shaaaaaaaack
Love shack, yeah yeah
I'm heading down the Atlanta Highway
Looking for the love getaway
Heading for the love getaway
Kurt joined in a little while later, blushing slightly as he recalled the last time he'd sung this song, and inwardly vowing to get Blaine back for clearly having put ideas in Rachel's head about the possibilities for this performance. Luckily he had no reason to be embarrassed about his voice; it was smooth and soft, and harmonised beautifully with Blaine and Rachel's. He soon forgot his mild grievance with his friends, loving the fact that he was getting to sing a sexy song with Blaine in particular, bouncing around the stage and interacting with the audience. He could definitely see why Rachel and Blaine were so psyched to have a regular gig at the venue, and as he took a bow with them as the song concluded, his heart swelled with pride and love once again for the owners of the two hands he so gratefully clung to.

"You really were incredible tonight, Blaine." Kurt murmured into Blaine's hair as the two lay sprawled across his sofa, the smaller man lounging back with his head lying on Kurt's chest.
"Kurt, that's probably the fifth time you've said that." Blaine laughed lazily.
"That's only because it's true!" He exclaimed, leaning down to kiss the top of Blaine's head. "And that song ... wow. Was that why you wouldn't let me near your piano the other night?"
"Might've been." Blaine replied sheepishly. Kurt laid a hand on Blaine's chest and stroked up and down the soft fabric of his shirt, gaining a happy sigh with every touch.
"Well, it was amazing - and I loved it."
Blaine curled his body around and rested his head on one elbow, smiling up at Kurt and leaning forward for a soft kiss. "You're welcome." He breathed over Kurt's lips, snuggling back down into the crook of Kurt's arm and squeezing him tightly with the hand now draped across his midriff.
"Blaine?" Kurt began tentatively.
"Mmm-hmm?"
"We are ... I mean ... we're official now, right?"
"Huh?" Blaine said, already half asleep thanks to another exhausting day and a little too much wine.
"Well ... is it safe to call you my boyfriend now?"
"Of course." Blaine drawled. "We're lovers ... and you're all mine."
Kurt laughed gently. "There's a difference between boyfriends and lovers though, Blaine."
"Nope." Blaine was becoming quieter and less coherent by the second. "Boyfriends love each other ... so they're lovers." He emphasised the last word heavily.
"You love me?" Kurt asked in a tiny voice, his heart pounding.
Blaine gave a small grunt, and Kurt had no idea if that was any kind of reply or not. He pulled his boyfriend as tightly as he could into him as his heart-rate calmed a little, and breathed yet another contented sigh. As stunned as he was to be flooded with all of these feelings so quickly when he'd previously felt doomed to be single forever, he knew in his heart that he could definitely get very used to this feeling.
