Author's Notes: This story does include hurt!Kurt and Kurt with a troubled past, but I'm sure you'll figure that out seeing at the first chapter is called Therapy. I've been rolling this idea around for a little while and I'd love feedback!

Dr. Henry J. Dalton was straightening the stack of magazines sitting on the small coffee table in his office when his assistant knocked on his door before peaking her head in.

“Dr. Dalton, Kurt Hummel, is here to see you,” she said.

Henry leaned back in his seat and nodded, “Alright, send him in.” He opened the file sitting on his lap and made a small note of the time with his pen.

The young assistant disappeared back into the front room only to return with a young man close behind her.

“Shut the door behind you, Stephanie,” Dr. Dalton said and she nodded again as she disappeared through the door, closing it shut gently behind her.

“Hello Mr. Hummel,” Dr. Dalton began. “I’m Dr. Henry Dalton, would you like to take a seat?” He gestured to the large, comfortable couch sitting adjacent to him.

The young boy stood still for a moment, obviously a little timid before walking over to the couch, the side closer to the doctor, and sinking down onto it gracefully.

“So, Kurt. May I call you Kurt?” The doctor asked.

Kurt nodded slightly. He looked over the doctor’s approachable features and decided this man probably wasn’t a bad guy, but he kept his guard up even if logic was telling him he could trust Dr. Dalton.

“You can call me Henry if you like,” he said as a side note before beginning again. “So, Kurt, what do you like to do in your spare time?”

Kurt opened his mouth to speak when the question finally registered and his mouth snapped shut. He tilted his head to the side in confusion, “Aren’t you supposed to be asking me about-?” Kurt wouldn’t stay it, but he knew the doctor would understand what he was referring to.

“I’m here to talk to you, Kurt. You can decide to tell me whatever you want, I’m just a listener,” Henry said lightly with a small shrug.

“But you are supposed to… to help me right?” Kurt asked his eyes narrowing slightly.

“Of course, Kurt. But like I said, it’s up to you to tell me what you want. If you want to jump right into it, then we can do that.”

Kurt was still for a moment before hesitantly nodding.

Dr. Dalton inclined his head in assent as he glanced over the file again, noting the date listed there. “Alright, well then how about we start at the beginning or wherever you feel comfortable starting,” Henry recommended with a small shrug as he looked up to Kurt.

Shifting slightly on the couch Kurt crossed his leg.

“Why don’t you tell me why your dad made you this appointment,” Henry prompted.

Kurt took a deep breath after giving the doctor a wary look and spoke quietly, “The whole thing started a little over four months ago,” he focused his gaze on the partially closed blinds across the room that were keeping some of the sunlight out, “as I’m sure you know, and I was okay right after it happened. Well, as okay as can be expected. And then my dad decided it would be a good idea to move,” Kurt said softly.

“Move here? To Ohio?” Dr. Dalton asked with interest, hoping that he could keep Kurt focused.

“Yes. He thought the… change of scenery would be good for me.” Kurt finally tore his gaze away from the window and the small dust particles floating in the air.

“And has it been?” The doctor asked.

“Well, I’m here, aren’t I?” Kurt asked sarcastically as he looked around the rest of the room. A little bitterness seeped into his tone.

“Fair enough. So, what changed when you got here?” Henry asked as he made a little note in the file.

Kurt’s eyes flicked toward the movement and his lips formed a thin line as he tried to ignore his curiosity about what the doctor was writing. He frowned and glanced away again to focus on how to answer the question so he could continue.

“I was enrolled in McKinley High School,” Kurt said simply.

“And this was a big change for you?” Henry asked.

“Henry…” Kurt began, not sure if he was comfortable calling this man by his first name. “In my file… does it tell you that I’m gay?” he asked, meeting his gaze directly for the first time.

“Yes.” Dr. Dalton finally saw a bit of steely resolve flicking in Kurt’s eyes.

“And do you have a problem with me being gay?” Kurt asked.

The doctor paused for a moment debating whether to bring up personal opinion before deciding in this case it was okay.

      “No.”

“Good,” Kurt said with a relieved nod.

“What does that have to do with you being enrolled in McKinley High School?” Henry asked.

      “Well… there’s this boy…”

End Notes: Again, reviews are much appreciated!
