“You almost lost your virginity to a stranger in a bar, Blaine! I’m your best friend! Of course I’m upset! I’m worried about you; this isn’t like you at all.” David exclaimed quietly later that night once they had arrived at his house. Wes had passed out on David’s bedroom floor as soon as they stumbled in. David had expressed his concern for Blaine and Blaine hadn’t taken it so well. “Why don’t you just not worry about it, David? I don’t understand why you’re so upset!” Blaine had said.
“I’m sorry.” Blaine sighed, sitting on David’s bed, putting his head in his hands. “I’m just upset about him. And I guess I shouldn’t mix alcohol with it.”
“I guess not.” David sighed, sitting next to Blaine. “Look, I’m sorry for getting angry, you just worried me. I love you, man. I don’t want you getting hurt worse than you are now.”
Blaine pursed his lips, nodding. “Thanks, David. I’m sorry I went crazy tonight.”
David shook his head. “It’s fine. You’re fine. Now, let’s go to bed. We have to be up in five hours to meet Nana A.”
Blaine just nodded before curling up on the bed in his jeans and passing out.
….
“Blaine...” Kurt whined softly. “Please.”
Blaine found himself ontop of the younger boy, kissing his neck. Kurt’s hands were roaming Blaine’s body. They were tangled up in each other; the only thing separating them was their jeans. Blaine kissed Kurt’s neck once more before moving up to his lips. He hovered for a moment, their lips barely touching. “Kurt...” He whispered.
“Yeah?” Kurt trembled.
“I am so in love with you.” He closed his eyes, resting his forehead against Kurt’s.
Kurt just smiled. “I love you, too, Blaine.” He lifted his head ever so slightly to crash his lips against Blaine’s
…
Blaine jerked awake at the sound of Wes’ phone going off the next morning. “Jesus.” He put his hand to his head and sat up. It felt like a hammer hitting him in the head over and over and over and over and over again.
“Hey man, you okay?” David asked, walking into the room.
Blaine nodded. “I guess.” He squeezed the bridge of his nose and groaned. Those stupid dreams.
David chuckled. “Here.” He grabbed the Advil off of his dresser and tossed it to Blaine.
“Thanks.” He looked over, noticing that it was nine in the morning. “Oh jeez.” He stood up, straightening his clothes out. “I’m going to head up to Dalton and meet Nana, I’m sure she’ll be there soon. She said she was going to stop at dad’s, get my stuff, and be there by nine thirty-ish. So she’s probably there by now.” He chuckled.
David nodded. “I’ll get Wes up and going and we’ll be there in a bit.”
Blaine just nodded before leaving David’s house, saying hello to David’s mom and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek before he left.
…
Blaine sighed walking through the empty halls of Dalton Academy, leaving was bittersweet. He was going to miss it. Everything about it. The random songs in the hallways, the guys, the teachers, his roommate. Everything about this school had been great. Blaine made his way up to his and Kurt’s room and when he opened the door, his heart stopped.
Kurt was lying on his bed; he sat up when the door opened. They both just looked at each other for a long moment before Kurt whispered, “Hi,”
Blaine didn’t realize he had stopped breathing until he opened his mouth. “Hey,” He didn’t move from the door way. “I- I didn’t think you’d be here.”
“I-I know, I’m sorry. I just…” He sighed.
“Why did you text me last night?” Blaine asked.
“Why didn’t you?” Kurt looked up at him.
“Kurt,” Blaine shook his head. “You told me that we…that we couldn’t do this. That it won’t work. Why? I don’t understand. I lo-” He stopped, catching himself.
Kurt shot his eyes up to Blaine. “What?”
“Nothing.” He rubbed his face. “You’re the one who decided we weren’t going to do anything about this.” Blaine said calmly.
“I-I know but I just don’t want this to end on a bad note.”
“End? You’re not even going to be my friend anymore?”
“No, no. That’s not what I meant. Don’t put words in my mouth.” Kurt said. “Besides, you’re the one who said you were wrong about us being friends.”
Blaine groaned. “Yes and you’re the one that did this and I’m the one that did that.” He sat down next to Kurt on the bed. “Look, we have to stop this blame game, Kurt. I just don’t want to not be your friend. I would really like to be even more than that.” His eyes caught Kurt’s and they sat there for a moment, quiet, just trying to read each other.
“Blaine, it…”
“Knock knock?” A voice came from the door way, breaking their moment.
“Nana?” Blaine’s face lit up and he smiled big. “Nana!” He jumped up when the older woman walked into the room. She had short, curly yellow hair. She was about the same height as Blaine; she was dressed in pink capris and a white blouse. She was absolutely adorable. You could see Blaine in her, big time.
“Blainey!” She smiled, hugging him tight. “Mm! It’s so good to see you, baby.”
“It’s even better to see you.” He smiled as she kissed his cheek. She shifter her gaze to Kurt, who was now standing.
“You must be Kurt! I’ve heard so much about you.” She gave a small wink, causing Blaine to blush.
“Nana,” He said.
“Oh, hush now.” She looked to Blaine then back to Kurt. “I’m just thrilled to meet the boy that’s made my grandson so happy.”
“Oh, I have?” Kurt looked to Blaine.
“Of course! The way Blaine talks about you, like you hung the stars.” She chuckled, with a smirk. Blaine’s face was hot with embarrassment.
“Is-is that true?” Kurt took a step towards Blaine. “Blaine?”
Blaine just looked Kurt in the eyes and sighed. “Well, yeah. Of course it is.”
Kurt’s eyes started to water. He turned to the older woman. “It was so nice to meet you finally…”
“Just call me Nana, everyone does.” She smiled.
“Nana.” He offered a small smile back. “But, I- I have to go.” He started to rush out but Blaine’s hand caught his before he went through the door. Kurt turned and looked down at their hands. It was like they were on fire. Blaine’s touch caused such a spark, even bigger than any time before.
“Kurt...” Blaine whispered.
“Goodbye, Blaine.” Kurt bit his lip before taking his hand away and leaving the room.
Blaine turned to his Nana and she shrugged, with a little smile. “I heard you two were having some issues and I just though…I was just trying to help.”
“Thanks.” He made a sarcastic face. “When did you talk to Wes?”
“I resent that!” Said Wes as he and David came through the door. “Why do you think I have anything to do with this?”
“Because! I certainly didn’t tell her I was having issues with Kurt.”
“Oh.” Wes turned to the older woman. “Thanks a lot, Nana!”
Everyone but Blaine chuckled.
…
Blaine called, and called, and called, and texted and texted Kurt. After they finished loading up Nana’s car, Nana, David and Wes waited for Blaine at David’s house. Blaine stayed back at Dalton; he didn’t want to leave on this note. He wanted to talk to Kurt before he left. But he tried and tried and he couldn’t get ahold of him. After one more unanswered call, he finally left a voicemail after the beep.
“Kurt. Please. I...” He sighed. “I don’t want to leave like this. I don’t want us to be like this. I don’t want this at all.” He rubbed his face. “I don’t want to talk to your voicemail. I want to talk to you. Please. I’ll be at our room until five. Please, Kurt. Come. I’m sorry about everything.” He hung up.
He groaned to himself as he collapsed onto Kurt’s bed, looking up at the ceiling. His mind racing. This was it. It was now or never. Regardless of what they’ve said and what has happened, Blaine was still in love with Kurt. They had to work this out now. All of the dreams he’s had flashing through his mind, the first time they met, the first time they sang together, the moment when Blaine realized he was in love with Kurt. All of it came rushing to him, causing his heart to jumpstart into hummingbird mode. Then their fight crossed his mind as he tried to analyze all of the stupid things said. It brought tears to his eyes. He couldn’t lose Kurt forever. This had to work, Kurt needed to show up. He checked his phone for the time; he realized he had been waiting for it was 4:58. Kurt still hadn’t showed up. He took a deep breath, sitting up. He placed his elbows on his knees, resting his face against his hands, his hand covering his mouth as he stared at the door.
Please. He begged in his mind. There was a pit of nervousness in his stomach.
Please, please, please.
Another few minutes past and it was after five. He rubbed his face against his hands. He felt the pit grow and his eyes burned with tears. This was it. “He’s not coming.” He whispered to himself, letting it sink in that he would probably never see Kurt again. This thought made the wave of tears hit his eyes faster. He sniffled, looking down at Kurt’s blanket; he ran his hand across it. He sighed, standing up. He looked around the room once and left. He walked down the empty hallway. As he reached the stairs, he placed his hand on the banister, walking slowly as the first time he saw Kurt ran through his mind. Just when he was about halfway down, he heard running, so he stopped. His heart was beating so hard.
“Blaine!” Kurt said as he reached the stairs. “Oh my god. I-” He was breathing heavy. “You-I thought-oh” He took a deep breath and looked up at Blaine. “I thought I would be too late.”
“You came.” Blaine bit his lip.
“Look, I-I’m really sorry. About this whole stupid thing. It was ridiculous. I was ridiculous.” Kurt said as he took a step up.
Blaine shook his head. “No. I was. This was all my fault.” He took a step down.
Kurt shook his head. “I said stupid things, you said stupid things. It was all so stupid. We were both idiots.” He took another step up.
Blaine chuckled, nodding his head. “I suppose I can agree to that.” He took another step down. “Kurt, you remember the first time we met?” He smirked a bit.
Kurt just smiled, nodding. Stepping up a couple of steps. “Right here.”
Blaine nodded. “Right here.”
“I…” He stepped down once more and he was one step up from the one Kurt was on. “I believe I fell in love with you at that moment.” Blaine cupped Kurt’s face in his hands, looking deep into his blue eyes. “I love you, Kurt. I am so in love with you that it hurts.” He looked down to Kurt’s lips, then back up.
Kurt’s stomach and eyelids fluttered as his heart beat rapidly. Tears began to escape his eyes. “I love you, too, Blaine. I love you, so much.” He whispered, looking up into Blaine’s hazel eyes. “But what if we can’t make it?” He placed his hands on Blaine’s wrists, rubbing his thumb back and forth.
“It’s only a year. You’ll be a NYADA before you know it and we’ll live happily ever after.”
“How do you know that?” Kurt whined slightly, wrinkling his forehead.
“Because I love you.” Blaine breathed.
Their noses grazed and Kurt felt Blaine’s hot breath float across his cheeks.
“I love you, too.” He whispered.
And with no more words said, Blaine leaned down and captured Kurt’s lips in his own. He kissed him with everything he had in him, with every bit of love and passion and tension that had been building up every minute that they had known each other. Kurt responded without hesitation, his lips were soft, very soft. The feel of his lips meshing with Kurt’s made him tingle. He stepped down onto the same step Kurt was on as they kissed, pushing Kurt up against the banister slightly. Kurt whimpered a bit, his knees weakening. He felt as if someone had lit a firework in his stomach. Kurt slipped his arms around Blaine’s waist. Blaine still held Kurt’s face in his hands; he gently caressed Kurt’s cheek bone with his thumb. As he deepened the kiss, he suddenly realized his new favorite taste was Kurt. That minty sweet taste with a hint of coffee. He slipped his tongue into Kurt’s mouth, earning another whimper from him. Blaine smiled into the kiss, making his own little sound. Kurt smiled as well when Blaine made the noise; he also bit at Blaine’s bottom lip which caused Blaine to groan in the back of his throat.
Blaine pulled away. Both boys breathless. “Oh my god.” He leaned his forehead against Kurt’s.
Kurt giggled slightly, running his hands up Blaine’s stomach and chest. He pressed his lips against Blaine’s once more for a quick kiss. “I agree.” He looked up into Blaine’s eyes. “Say it.” He whispered.
“I love you, Kurt.” He dropped his hands from Kurt’s face and placed his hands on Kurt’s hips.
“One more time.”
Blaine chuckled. “I love you, Kurt.” He bit his lip and kissed Kurt once more. “So, we’re doing this?” He smiled.
“There is no other option.” Kurt said seriously. “I love you.”
Blaine smirked. “Say it again.”
Kurt chuckled this time. “I love you, Blaine.”
They shared another soft kiss.
“So, I have nothing to do this weekend, or all summer for that matter.” Kurt suggested.
Blaine shook his head. “Your dad would never let you spend the summer with me in my apartment in New York.”
Kurt nodded, shrugging. “True, but maybe I could get a weekend or two? He’s already letting me go with you this weekend.”
“Really?” Blaine smiled, his face lighting up. “Oh my goodness, that’s awesome, Kurt! And, this summer and one some weekends, I’ll come to Lima. I promise. I don’t start school until September.”
“I would love that.” Kurt said.
“Kurt?” Blaine raised his eyebrows.
“Hmm?”
“Will you be mine?” He smirked.
Kurt laughed. “I want nothing more than to be yours. Forever.”
“Forever?”
“Forever.”
“I can live with that.” Blaine smiled. “Say it.” He whispered.
“I love you, Blaine Anderson. I’m completely...” He slipped his hands around Blaine’s neck, leaning into him. “head over heels in love with you.”
They both just smiled at each other, taking each other in for a moment. Letting everything that was happening sink in. This was it. They finally had each other. After all of that dancing around each other, fighting, and tension. After all of that, they were together, and neither of them ever planned on changing that. Sure, the long distance relationship was going to be tough. But it would only be for a year. They could do it. Neither of them could handle throwing this away after wanting it for so long.
“I know we can do this.” Blaine finally spoke.
Kurt nodded. “We can.”
“I hope you know I’m never letting you go.” Blaine said, his voice low.
Kurt’s heart still beat like a hummingbird’s. “Please don’t.” He whispered, before pressing his lips to Blaine’s. They shared a lingering kiss before Kurt dropped his arms from Blaine’s neck, he found Blaine’s hand and laced their fingers together, and they left the staircase that started it all. Blaine smiled to himself. He definitely knew where he’d be taking Kurt when he decides to propose.
