After the incident on Monday Kurt has been avoiding the hallways and cafeteria at school as best as he could, rather choosing to have lunch at one of the little restaurants near campus, to make sure such a scene wouldn't repeat itself.
It wasn't that anything awful or even unusual had happened - really, he should've been expecting it, he was somewhat famous in the arts business after all - but he just felt really uncomfortable with all this people staring at him like he hung the moon. It made him uneasy not only knowing about, but actually seeing all these people who all had these unbelievably expectations in him.
Some of them had even followed him when he left with his salad on that day to eat it somewhere in quiet and peace and it took him a solid 30 minutes to get them to leave him alone. He barely had enough time left to eat before his meeting with Claude - and god only knew how he would react to Kurt being late for practice and that on the first day of the semester.
As can be expected after two semesters working with - or rather under - the eccentric dance instructor, Claude was already in the studio impatiently awaiting Kurt's entrance when Kurt finally made his way into the room the minute the lesson was supposed to start.
Kurt dropped his bag by the door and calmly made his way over to the ballet bar to begin his stretching, seemingly unaware of his teacher standing by the sound system and watching his every move.
He had just put his leg up on the bar to stretch his tight muscles when he met Claude glance in the mirror, who then in turn raised a perfectly trimmed eyebrow as if to say:
"Really?! You almost come late to practice without giving me any kind of explanation? And on top of that you didn't even greet me after two months of not seeing each other almost daily? I'm hurt, Kurt."
Kurt sighed and put his leg down before turning around and making his way over to his instructor:
"I'm sorry, ok? But you know how my life is: A bunch of freshmen chased me after I left the cafeteria and I had to hide out in an empty classroom in the music wing to be able to eat my salad in peace and then make my way across campus to meet you here. And just for the record I wasn't even really late.", Kurt explained hurriedly, eager to get the formalities over with and just start with his training already - he was feeling a bit self-conscious about his abilities after having been left to train by himself again for the last nine weeks.
Claude merely laughed and held his hands up in mock surrender, replying:
"Hey now, I didn't say anything, did I?"
"That might be true, but I know that gaze you send me..." Kurt simply replied, knowing full-well that the French was just teasing him to get on his nerve.
"Kurt maybe you should go to a shrink, you sound a bit paranoid to me."
"Leave the psychiatric evaluation for the professionals, shall we?" he responded dryly.
Claude pouted a little seeing as Kurt wasn't taking his bate. By now he had become like a mentor to Kurt; probably the closest person Kurt had to a something like a friend and Claude was equally fond of his special student.
"Fine, then let's get straight down to business, shall we? I hope you put your time without me to good use and weren't just letting yourself go, because today I want you to show me that routine I told you to practice over the summer, got it?" After Kurt's confirming nod he added: "Great then finish your stretching and let's begin, already!"
His class went over quickly and - although his moves where constantly followed by shout off "shoulder's down, Kurt!" or "back straight" - he couldn't help but be proud when Claude lightly hit his shoulder and praised his footwork after he was done. At least, I seem to be living up to somebody's expectations. So I can't be doing that much wrong; at least for now...
After that first day Blaine found himself unconsciously looking for the perfectly styled light brown hair and the glasz eyes that wouldn't leave his mind where ever he went and he spend almost every lunch break asking around to get to know more about the mysterious Kurt Hummel.
But as the days passed, Blaine realized that while Kurt seemed to be the number one topic of conversation at the school nobody really knew him.
It was all just rumors and telltale. And everybody seemed to have their own ideas and stories about the pale beauty.
What they all seemed to agree on was that 1) Kurt Hummel was the most talented and promising pupil Juilliard has ever seen and that 2) for it the whole school deified him and that he was apparently 3) capital G - gay.
Blaine also learned that Kurt was a bit of a loner: he didn't have any friends anybody knew about and therefore nobody could tell Blaine where to find him. And because of their different years they also didn't seem to share any classes and never met in the hallways.
Although he told himself that if it was meant to be their paths were bound to cross again and to stay positive, with each day that passed without that happening Blaine lost a bit more of his hope to ever get to know the person behind the beautiful exterior and the many rumors.
But, as it turned out, fate had decided that their paths would cross once again...
