Blaine woke up alone. The spot where Kurt should lay was already cool, telling the other boy that he'd been gone a while.
He looked around the room and was pleased to note that it was in the state he'd left it last night, perhaps even tidier. The soiled sheets were missing and when Blaine went brush his teeth he noticed the shower was wet. He stretched massively before climbing the steps to go in search of Kurt.
He didn't have to look far. As soon as he opened the door he could smell all manner of breakfast things cooking and hear the soft sound of Kurt humming an unnamable tune. He cleared his throat softly, hoping he could avoid startling the slim teen.
He was successful. Kurt turned to him and smiled softly. "Hungry?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah," he replied, looking at the massive spread in front of him. "Are you… expecting company?"
Kurt blushed and focused on the peach topping he was making. "No," he murmured. "I just… cook when I'm nervous or anxious or depressed. My mom said busy hands make calm minds, so…"
Blaine nodded. His own family lived by that motto. The dark haired teen couldn't tell you how many scarves his grandmother had knitted him and his mother had more embroidered pillows than they knew what to do with.
He pulled out a chair and sat at the table, taking in the contents. Pancakes and french toast, fresh biscuits with honey and butter, eggs, sausage and bacon, sheesh!
Kurt poured the peach topping he was working on into a bowl and brought it to the table, sitting down when Blaine looked at him meaningfully.
The slim teen took some french toast and topped it with some of the peaches he had reduced into a thick, sugary sauce. Blaine piled his own plate up high and dug in.
"Wait," he said suddenly. "Where's Finn?" It wasn't like him to pass up food like this.
"Oh, he had to meet Rachel to go to lunch with her dads."
"Did you…" he trailed off, not wanting to bring up painful subjects again.
Yeah," he said softly, smearing honey and butter onto a biscuit with a single-minded intensity. "For a second I thought I was going to have to wake you up to help me physically prevent him from finding Sam, but he calmed down."
Blaine wasn't so convinced. He was pretty sure that this Sam kid was in for a world of hurt when Finn finally cornered him. And the rest of New Directions. And Burt, if he ever found out. Oh, and let's not forget, Blaine himself.
He almost felt sorry for the kid. Almost. (Not really)
The fair teen sniffled quietly. "I should probably tell Quinn…"
Blaine bit his lip. He agreed, but it wasn't his decision to make.
"I'm just… worried she won't believe me, or be mad that I went out with him in the first place even though she keeps insisting their not together."
He and Blaine shared a look. Girls it said. As close as they were to their female friends they'd never truly understand how their minds worked when even they weren't even sure half of the time.
"I'll call her later, I guess. Just…not now. I just need a little while to not think about it," he pleaded.
Blaine nodded. "Alright," he soothed. "You don't have to do it now."
Kurt smiled and pushed the french toast around in his plate until he caught Blaine's stern look and popped a bite in his mouth, chewing pointedly.
The teens made idle chitchat as the finished their breakfast, barely making a dent in the massive spread. Blaine grabbed their dirtied dishes and began to clean up the breakfast mess. Kurt made his way to the Tupperware cabinet and looked to Blaine sheepishly.
"I hope we have enough Tupperware to put all this away."
Blaine just shook his head in amusement and continued to load the dishwasher. He made sure it was sealed tight with plenty of detergent before setting it to wash. "I find it a little sad that our breakfast dishes filled up an entire dishwasher."
Kurt snapped a dishtowel at him. "Quiet, you."
Blaine took his seat back and the table and sipped his coffee, eyes locking with Kurt's. The pale teen leaned with his back against the counter, hands resting on the counter by his hips. "Sooo, I slept on it."
The dark haired teen frowned in confusion before it hit him; his confession from the night before.
"Couldn't really think about it last night since I was unconscious within seconds, but I thought about it all this morning," he said. "…Did you mean it?"
Blaine's eyes softened in the face of Kurt's insecurity. "Of course I did," he said gently. "I love you, Kurt. I wouldn't say something I didn't mean, especially something so serious."
The slim teen nodded, worrying his lip thoughtfully. He walked over and sat across next to Blaine. He rested his hand on his cheek and took a deep breath.
"I almost don't want to tell you this because I don't want you to feel any more guilty, because you shouldn't but you will 'cause you're crazy," he said with a laugh. "But I only agreed to go out on that… date with Sam because I thought that it was never going to happen for us. And I was flattered that someone asked me out."
Blaine opened his mouth to speak but Kurt shook his head. He swallowed around the words he was choking on and nodded.
"The entire time I was on the date, even when I was enjoying it, I just kept comparing him to you. His jokes, his clothes, his taste, everything," Kurt said tearfully. "Even before… what happened, I decided I wasn't going to go on another date, even if he asked."
The delicate teen took a fortifying breath before continuing. "It wasn't fair to me, and if he wasn't such a jerk," Kurt spat. "It wouldn't have been fair to him because he wasn't what I really wanted. Apparently I wasn't what he wanted either."
He clasped his hands in front of him and gave Blaine a watery smile. He raised his shoulders in a half-shrug and cocked his head to the side. "I love you, Blaine. I've been gone on you since before you asked me to help you practice singing Baby, It's Cold Outside. I just thought I didn't stand a chance."
Blaine clucked softly and grabbed Kurt's hand. "Kurt…"
"Besides," the other teen said. "He wasn't really my type."
The dark haired teen scoffed skeptically. "We both know he's mean, deceitful, and misogynistic but that doesn't change the fact that he's the personification of a Greek god."
Kurt laughed, high and clear, before shaking his head and focusing on Blaine with a sly smile. "True. But I prefer dapper, curly haired singers that carry handkerchiefs and are willing to drive to see a friend in need during all hours of the night and have an affinity for singing Top 40 hits by girls," he chimes. His smile turned soft, unsure. "Know any?"
Blaine chuckled, taking Kurt's hand in his own. "I think I might." He leaned forward hesitantly, giving the other boy time to pull away. He wasn't sure how he'd be received given the events of last night though he had nothing to fear.
Kurt closed the remaining distance between them, pressing his lips against Blaine's own. The dark haired teen placed a hand on the back of Kurt's neck, thumb rubbing the goose flesh he found there.
He pulled Kurt closer and softly suckled on his lower lip. The fair teen's hands came to rest on Blaine's shoulders, kneading slowly. The curly haired singer broke the kiss slowly, resting his forehead against Kurt's.
The two teens giggled as the caught each other's eyes. The pulled back and Kurt smoothed some of the wayward curls out of his face. "Do you mind staying a bit longer?"
"I'd mind leaving," he confessed.
Kurt smiled bashfully and cast his eyes to the floor. He stood up and walked over to the fridge. "Well, would you like to actually watch a movie? Promise I won't fall asleep this time."
"Sounds great," Blaine replied.
"Want some hot chocolate?" he asked, already taking out the ingredients for it.
"You know I do. Mine never comes out as good as yours."
Kurt rolled his eyes and poured some whole milk into a sauce pan. "That's because you use the packet stuff."
When Blaine started to protest he interrupted. "Just because it says Godiva on the packet doesn't make it any better."
The dark haired teen huffed as Kurt added the chunks of chocolate he had cut while the milk came to a gentle simmer and stirred attentively. He turned to Blaine. "Would you mind getting the whipped cream?" he asked distractedly.
Blaine opened the fridge and was confronted with three different kinds of whipped cream. Cool Whip, Reddi-wip and the homemade stuff. He grabbed the contained with the fresh stuff and wiggled it at Kurt.
"Is this the one you want?"
Kurt looked over and nodded, gesturing for him to place it on the counter with his spoon. He quickly (yet carefully) poured the hot chocolate into two oversized mugs and scooped two generous dollops of whipped cream on top.
They each took a cup and slowly made their way downstairs, taking up residence on the floor once more but under decidedly happier circumstances. Kurt grabbed the remote and clicked on the TV, looking at his DVR menu.
"How do you feel about ghosts?" Kurt asked.
Blaine shrugged and looked at the TV. "Oh, A Haunting, I love that. The acting is so bad it's good."
Kurt smiled and played one of the many episodes he had saved and settled in for some cheesy acting but still scary stories. After a few moments Blaine cleared his throat and looked to the other teen.
"So, remember that time I asked if you wanted to have a conversation about sex and you got all upset and talked about romance and fingertips touching and told me to leave?"
"Ohhhh do I ever, Blaine Warbler," Kurt said ominously, setting his hot chocolate down and turning to face his friend. "And that reminds me: I forgot to thank you for the wonderful conversation I had with my father."
When Blaine looked confused, Kurt was only too happy to clarify. "I can do the math, mister. We have that little tiff about sex and the next day my father is all 'don't throw yourself around like you don't matter' and 'it's going to be even harder because you're both boys and you wanna get laid' or whatever. And the pamphlets!"
Kurt suddenly reached into his nightstand and pulled out a stack of leaflets and proceeded to beat Blaine about the head with them.
"Hey, hey!" Blaine cried through his laughter. "Well, did you at least look through them? Or were you saving them for the sole purpose of retribution?"
"Saved them!" Kurt said viciously. With one last FWAP! Kurt slapped the pamphlets down with an adorable snarl on his face.
Blaine couldn't help but laugh which one enraged the countertenor further. "It isn't funny!"
The dark haired teen smothered his chuckles and looked at the embarrassed teen. "You have to admit that it's a little bit funny."
Kurt's indignant scoff told Blaine that he'd be laughing right along with him if it were Finn. "Well, now that you've doled out punishment with them are you going to finally look at them?"
The slim teen groaned and rubbed his eyes with the heel of his hand. "I probably should," he muttered.
"Do you want to look at them together?" Blaine suggested. "I'll admit, I'm curious. You know I got all my knowledge off the internet so it would be nice to know what was helpful and where I'm still completely in the dark."
"I don't know…" Kurt hesitated.
"Well, let's just look and if you get too uncomfortable, we can stop."
Kurt sighed and placed his now empty cup out of reach. "Alright," he agreed.
Blaine scooted closer to the other teen and scooped up the leaflets that lay discarded on the floor. He browsed through the titles and immediately put one at the bottom. While sexual abuse and coercion was a very relevant subject for the teens right now, he didn't want to upset Kurt more than he already was. Maybe the other teen could look at it later, when he had some privacy and the hurt was less fresh in his mind.
Blaine opened one titled Are You Ready?: How to talk to your partner about sex and set it to the side along with Safe Sex for Gay Teens.
Kurt's cheeks were so red he looked like he was in danger of combusting in embarrassment. Blaine decided to look through the one about talking to your partner first for a few reasons. One, he wanted Kurt to be his partner, so, yeah, relevance. And two, it was probably going to be the least embarrassing to look through together.
The teens stayed mostly silent while looking over the information, the only noise the occasional scream from the TV or one of them asking "Can I turn the page?".
Kurt squirmed next to Blaine uncomfortably. While he was glad that the other teen had quickly hidden the leaflet on abuse and coercion this pamphlet had a kind of "What not to do" section and while calling out the wrong person's name wasn't one there, just whipping it out was.
Well, it was worded in a more eloquent and informative way, but it was there.
When the teens had gleaned all the knowledge to be had from this packet they moved to the next, Kurt mentally bracing himself for a whole new level of humiliation. He'd fibbed a bit when he said he hadn't looked.
The truth was this was the first one he'd opened and when he noticed there were illustrations he's slammed it shut (or whatever the leaflet equivalent was) and shoved them in his drawer where they stayed until he used them as a weapon earlier.
Blaine opened the pamphlet and they were immediately assaulted with anatomically correct artistic renderings of the male form. Kurt swallowed audibly while the other teen just cocked an eyebrow in intrigue.
The further into the pamphlet they got, the more the slender boy squirmed. The images were becoming more explicit, and more informative as a result, but it didn't help the current situation Kurt was in.
He clutched his knees to his chest in the hopes that Blaine wouldn't notice that he was half hard this whole time. As uncomfortable as he was, he couldn't deny the fact that he did want this kind of relationship with the curly haired singer sitting next to him. Eventually.
Blaine turned the page and Kurt forced himself to look at the two men clearly engaged in what appeared to be spectacular sex. He had to shut his eyes and look away, his blush extending down his neck and across his ears.
He opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. "Ummm," he said, voice thin and reedy. He heard the rustling of paper and felt Blaine shift to face him.
"Hey," he said, fingers gently cupping his cheek and lowering Kurt's face. "Talk to me."
"Um," he said shakily. "Just… a lot of information, a lot to take in."
Blaine nodded and observed Kurt thoughtfully. "You know, Kurt," he began, sensing his real anxiety. "If we ever get there, to that point in our relationship, we don't have to have sex."
He tried to adjust himself, his cock half-mast form looking at all the illustrations and sitting so close to the boy he imagined doing them with. He chuckled, flustered. "As we just saw, there are tons of other things we could do. If we get there," he clarified.
Kurt sighed, frustrated. "It's not… that I don't want to have sex," he tried to explain. "It's just… I'm so not ready. I just—I never thought about it because I never thought that it was even a possibility for me while I was stuck in this Podunk town so the idea of it is still so… foreign to me. And until… last night, I hadn't even really kissed anyone," he finished in a whisper.
Blaine's lips thinned and he nodded in understanding. "Right."
"So," Kurt said around a sigh. "That's why I'm so weird about it."
"It's not weird," Blaine assured him. "It's actually really smart that you know your limits and why. It's the putting your fingers in your ears and singing that's weird," he finished with a smirk.
"Shut up," Kurt said, yanking on an errant curl. The shorter teen caught his hand and pressed a sweet kiss to his fingers before entwining them with his own.
Above them they heard the door open and close, signaling Finn's return. Kurt groaned and buried his face in his lap. He peered up at Blaine with a hopeful look on his face. "Want to stay the rest of the weekend? Save me from protective-overbearing Finn" he pleaded.
Blaine's slow smile made Kurt's insides flutter helplessly. "Wouldn't miss it."
OMG! I just read the first three chapters and I love how you wrote them. Especially protective Finn, I love their relationship =) anyhow, awesome job!! Your writing is awesome and I cant wait to finish the rest for now xD
Thank you!! :) This was one of my favorite pieces to write, and I'm so glad you liked it ^_^
