Blaine buckled Max into the booster seat in the back of his shiny, black BMW. Normally Kurt picked him up from his kindergarten class, but today was special. Today he needed to talk to Max. He'd practically had to beg Kurt to let him pick up the little boy from class. But he'd finally given in. With a 'whatever you say'.
"How a-come you're picking me up instead of Daddy?" Max questioned once Blaine was in the front seat driving.
"Because I wanted to come get you, is that okay?"
"MmmHmm." Max nodded. Blaine smiled.
The two drove for about ten minutes before Blaine noticed that Max was starting to doze off in the backseat. "No buddy. Don't fall asleep, I wanna take you somewhere. But you can't go to sleep on me."
Max yawned and sat up straighter. "Where?"
"You'll see." Blaine winked at him in the rear-view mirror. Five minutes later the two pulled into the frozen yogurt place that had just been built about a block or so away from Kurt's apartment. He parked the car before going around to the side that Max was sitting on and opening the door. Max jumped into his dad's boyfriend's arms with a smile.
They walked into the shop and Blaine let Max pick out whatever he wanted to eat. He was sure Kurt would give him an earful for letting Max eat ice cream before he ate dinner. But if everything went right this afternoon and tonight, he wouldn't have to worry about Kurt being angry. Once he and Max were seated at a table Blaine decided to immediately begin talking.
"Max, you know I love your Daddy very much right?"
Max looked up from his banana yogurt. "Yes." He said with a smile.
"What if I ask your Daddy to marry me? Would you be okay with that?" He questioned on.
Max stared down at his bowl as if he were contemplating his answer before looking up. "Yeah, you could."
Blaine let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding in. "Thanks so much buddy." Blaine ruffled his hand through Max's hair. Max giggled. "But you have to promise not to say anything to Daddy okay?"
"I promise!" The little boy linked his pinky with Blaine's. "I wont say anything! But you have to do it soon! Blaine, that would make daddy so happy!"
"I wanna do it soon. And I will, like maybe tonight." Blaine smiled slyly at the boy across from him.
"Really?!" Max squealed.
"Yes, really, but you really can't say anything to Daddy, nothing at all."
"My lips awe sealed!" Max smiled.
