"Kay?" Kurt peaked around the corner of Karlie's bedroom to see her sitting on the floor of her bedroom with her new dress-up set, courtesy of Blaine's step mom Jessica, thrown around her feet.
The four year old looked up at him, her wavy brown hair bunched on the top of her head in a messy pony tail that he was sure she'd tried to fix herself.
"Papa needs to run to the store, we'll only be gone for a little while but you have to come with me, can you put some shoes on for me?"
She huffed "But Papa." she messily moved a piece of her hair from her forehead that was moving towards her eyes. "I just got this pretty stuff, and I didn't even get time to wear it." She said, sounding much older than three and a half years old.
Kurt sighed. "You can play with it as soon as you get home, I promise we don't have to be gone for long, it's just I wanted to make dinner for Daddy, but I can't because we don't have everything we need." Karlie huffed again, standing up from her spot on the floor and stomped over to put her shoes on.
Kurt had to supress a laugh while watching his daughter attempt to be angry. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." She grumbled while still being polite with him. He turned the corner and walked through the kitchen making the short list of things that he would need to grab at the store. He walked back to Karlie's room to see her putting on her sparkly pink Keds and he smiled, coming up with a plan. He did not want a grumpy kid to tote around at the grocery store.
"If you promise to be good at the store, I'll let you wear one thing from your new dress-up set to the store."
Karlie's eyes lit up and she looked up at Kurt from where she was sitting on the edge of her bed. "I'll be good Papa! I promise!"
"Okay," He laughed "Pick out something from there and then we need to go so we can be home before Daddy." He watched as she jumped back into the spot on the floor quickly picking out the pink pair of fairy wings and putting them on her back, strecthing the elastic arm strings over her small shoulders. She trotted back over to Kurt, putting her arms up symbolising that she wanted to be picked up. He picked up the girl and kissed her on the cheek before exiting the house.
He was sure she didn't hear the adults cooing and aww-ing at her the entire time she rode in the shopping cart and the super market with her fairy wings on.
