"I cant make it."
The words echoed in Blaines head for hours after his phonecall with Kurt. It had been the second in the last few days. But still one of the first in the last two months. Hed been thrilled when Kurt had called him, telling him that he forgave him and that he would try talking to him again.
But now he was calling to tell him he wasnt going to make it into town for Christmas this year. Sure he was beyond proud of Kurt for getting his admission into NYADA, but being that was the reason he wasnt making it down to Ohio, made his heart ache in a way he was sure it wasnt going to anymore since hearing the words of forgiveness.
Ill have a blue Christmas without you. Ill be so blue, just thinking about you. The radio sang in the car on Blaines last day of school before break. Blaine slammed the dial to turn the music off.
This time last year hed been giving Kurt a promise ring, full of words of trust and love, and this year he would spend his Christmas wondering if Kurt actually forgave him. And if hed ever bother to be with him again.
He went through the day in the mindset that it would be over soon and he could go home. If he were lucky, Kurt would call him and tell him about his day, or ask him how his was. He wondered if when he hung up the phone with him Kurt would tell him he loved him, much like the way he did the first time theyd talked.
He sat at home, flipping channels on the TV, skipping all of the Christmas movies, he just wasnt feeling like them. He closed his eyes in an effort to drift off when his phone vibrated on the coffee table in front of him. He sat up quickly, hoping it was Kurt. His eyebrows furrowed at the sight of it being not Kurt, but his ex-boyfriends father.
"Hello?"
"Hey kid, how would you like to come to New York with me?"
Maybe it wouldnt be such a bad Christmas after all.
