Five Years Later

"How're you feeling?" Kurt glanced over to his husband who was sitting on the hospital bed and bouncing his leg.

"How long has she been gone?" Blaine glared at the door and pressed down at the bandaid on the crook of his elbow.

"It's been like two minutes," Kurt leaned forward and took his husband's hand. "She said it could take ten for the tests to come back."

"Kurt, I've been feeling off," Blaine kept his gaze at the door but his eyes filled with tears. "I've noticed more bruises and..."

"That doesn't mean anything," Kurt tried to assure him.

"The five year survival rate of leukemia is forty-four percent. That's less than half," Blaine muttered. "It has to be back."

"Blaine, you've beaten cancer before," Kurt gave him a smile and gently kissed his hand. "You got healthy, your hair grew back, you graduated NYADA, you are working on Broadway. You've gotten everything you have ever wanted. Cancer isn't going to get you. That's not how Blaine Anderson-Hummel goes out."

Blaine smiled at him and they kissed sweetly before the door opened and the doctor stepped in. She gave them both a smile and held up a piece of paper.

"No signs of cancer. You're still in remission," She smiled as both of them hugged each other tightly. "Now, you just need to be checked again in a year.Until then, keep doing what you're doing."

Kurt and Blaine both shook her hand before walking out, hand in hand with each other. As they walked out into the crisp New York air, Blaine's smile grew wider and wider.

"I can't believe it," He let out a laugh. "Five years ago, I thought I was going to die. That I would not be able to sing again, not be able to dance, not be able to...be with you. Here I am."

"Here you are," Kurt laughed as Blaine squeezed his hands and swung them in a circle.

"And I love you," Blaine grinned, pulling him in for a deep kiss.

"I love you too," Kurt pressed their foreheads together.

"So, I've been thinking," With a smile, Blaine gave his husband another kiss. "I am ready for kids."

"Kids?"

"Yeah, we're happy and we're in New York," Blaine looped his arm through Kurt's as they walked through the park. "We've been married for five years. Let's have kids."

"Let's do it," Kurt laughed breathlessly. "Let's have kids."

Kurt loved his husband. He loved his strength. He loved his courage. He loved his passion for life.

He couldn't wait to share it with their children.
