Weeks passed and Blaine didnt call back. Kurt accepted the fact that Blaine wasnt interested in being a daddy. He would take care of it all alone. He followed his classes and took his work shifts, listened patiently to Rachels advise and tried to find a way to tell Harris the truth. He couldnt hide his growing belly forever, Harris would notice eventually.
Soon his 20TH birthday arrived and Kurt didnt expect much of it. Burt called to congratulate him but he couldnt make it this year to celebrate because he was too busy with work. Kurt felt the cliff between him and his dad only grow wider. For some unknown reason his dad was avoiding him at all costs. Rachel was as chaotic as ever and didnt even seem to acknowledge his birthday. But the biggest disappointment was Harris. He cancelled any dates because he was too caught up with work. His boss had given him his first own case and Harris was too excited.
So on his birthday Kurt got up, skipped through his text messages from Mercedes, Brittany, Santana, Sam, Finn and even Puck wishing him a good day, grabs coffee and sat down before the TV. He just wanted to watch Sound of Music when the door opened.
Harris appeared with a big smile on his face and flowers in his hands. Happy Birthday. Before Kurt could even move, his lips were attacked by Harris. Harris pulls back, giving Kurt the flowers and hold out a present. Open up!
Kurt opened up and a small box of Merci Chocolate appeared. How original.... Kurt resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Harris gave the same presents as last year. Kurt swallowed away his disappointment and put on a brave smile. Thank you, Harris. I didnt expect this... I thought you all forgot it.
Harris smirks. Oh come on, of course I dont forget this. Its the happiest day of my life. 20 years ago the love of my life was born, remind me to call your dad to thank him for having un protective sex.
Kurt gasps in shock. Youre never allowed to talk to my dad again.
Harris laughs, stands up to put the flowers in a vase. Then he sat back down on the couch, wrapping his arms around Kurt. So, what are our plans for today?
Doing absolutely nothing and watch Sound of Music?
Harris groans. Come on, you know that I hate Sound of Music!
Kurt sighs. Fine, pick a movie. Im going to look if the cookies are ready. He stands up and walked to the oven. He saw Harris zap to a sport sender. This was going to be his worse birthday ever. The cookies are ready.
Harris turns around. Oh you made cookies?
Yeah, Rachel forgot to do grocery shopping so this is all we have. Kurt said, walking with a trade full of cookies over to the couch.
Good, Ill take you out to dinner tonight. Harris said. He took a cookie and popped it in his mouth. Theyre delicious like always. He glanced around the messy loft.
I didnt have the time to clean up yet. Kurt said.
Kurt, honey, come sit with me. Harris stretched his hand and Kurt grabbed it sitting down next to him. You deserve much, much better than this. Ill ask you one last time: Why dont you move in with me? You have more space and its clean.
I already told you that its too soon, Harris. I want to take things slow.
Were dating for a year now. Weve been taking things slow enough. I mean we havent even slept together. I respect your wishes and privacy and stuff but whatever happened with your ex, its not going to happen to us. You know me, I would never abuse you.
Abuse? Bl... my ex never abused me.
What happened then?
Its complicated.
You always say that.
Our relationship has nothing to do with my ex. I just want to take things slow. It has nothing to do with you I just... Im sorry.
Harris sighs. I should apologize Kurt. Im sorry to push. Youre right, we should focus on our relationship. If youre not ready to move in, well wait. But there is something I want to discuss.
Kurt could already guess what it was, it was the topic he avoided the most since their relationship started. Sex. It wasnt that he wasnt attracted to Harris. After his relationship with Blaine ended Kurt thought he would never ever fall in love again. He was struggling to forget Blaine. Then Harris came along and swept him off his feet.
Soon they did everything a normal couple would do, talk, kiss, going to the movies, going out for dinner, meeting the in-laws, sleeping together in one bed. And that was the problem Harris wanted to talk about. They really just slept together, nothing else happened. Kurt cared about Harris, but he just wasnt that ready to open himself up to Harris.. yet. He still felt like that awkward seventeen year ugly duckling that never been kissed. What if Harris would laugh at him? Or what if he was disappointed? The only experience Kurt had was with Blaine.
Were dating a year, Kurt, I dont want to push but.... Harris started, also feeling extremely uncomfortable on how to say this without pissing Kurt off. ... the closest thing we do is cuddle. I love that but maybe we can take the relationship to the next level a bit?
I... Kurt bit his lip. He couldnt lie to Harris any longer, he had to tell Harris about the pregnancy. Soon it started to show and he wont be able to hide it any longer. Harris, I need to tell you something.
Harris raised his eyebrows curious.
There is no easy way to say this but something happened when I was in LA.
Harris I phone rang, he grabbed his phone out of his pocket, he looked apologetic at Kurt. I know I promised this day to be all for you, Kurt, but I really need to take this. Be right back. He walked to the bad room.
Kurt shakes his head, and grabbed a cookie so that he had something to do while nerves took over his body. A knock on the door almost made him jump. He glanced at the clock. Rachel was at work since its a Saturday, Harris is here.... Well that sums up my friends in New York. Kurt thought sadly. A thought crossed his mind, he smiled, getting on his feet. Maybe its my dad...
Kurt opened the door. He stared at the biggest bundle of roses he had ever seen in his life. The deliverer wasnt visible. Eh?
Kurt Hummel? A damped voice asks.
Eh. Yeah, thats me.
These are for you. The delivery man pushed the flowers in Kurts hands.
Kurt did his best to look behind the flowers to see the man but gave up and just laid the flowers down on the kitchen table. His jaw dropped when he saw whos standing before him. Blaine?
Blaine grinned widely. His mop of curls were a mess, like he just ran his way from the airport to his dorm. He probably had, Kurt realized. The one and only. He pulled behind him a suitcase. Oh wait, I have a present for you.
You shouldnt have too. Kurt said, wondering what Blaine was doing here. He had a feeling the suitcase was not only for his present.
Oh come on you didnt think I would forget? Blaine said, pushing something aside to search for the item.
Well, actually... I did. I asked Jeff to ask if you wanted to call me back? But you didnt.
Blaine shrugs. I thought surprising you was better. You cant expect me to not come in person after dropping such a bomb shell.
I shouldve known. Kurt mumbles.
Blaine stands up, holding a box in his hands. Happy birthday, Kurt. He reached it out to Kurt.
Kurt stared at the perfectly wrapped present. The red ribbons on it was wrapping him in too and soon he was holding it in his hands and tearing it apart. It would be rude to refuse a present. He gasps when he saw a ocean blue McQueen Scarf. He stared in shock. Is that-?
A McQueen one and only. Blaine said proudly, his eyes shining when he saw Kurts excitement. I let it design just for you. It matches your eyes. Here, let me... He grabbed the scarf and wrapped it gently on Kurts neck. It fitted perfectly.
Blaine was well aware that their lips was inches apart but he didnt move. Kurt looked beautiful. Is it even possible to get hotter every day?
But Kurt had his eyes on his scarf. Blaine this mustve cost you thousands... I cant accept it. He looked up, saw how close they were, and quickly stepped back.
What? Of course you can. Its for you. Dont worry about the costs.
At least let me make it up to you somehow. Kurt said. I havent bought you any present for your birthday, let me buy you a gift. Not too expensive though, I dont have much money.
Youre kidding me right? Kurt, youre giving me the biggest gift there is. Blaine said, staring bluntly at Kurts stomach. Youre carrying my child. Our child.
A loud bang interrupted their reunion. Kurt jumped. What was that?
Blaine rolls his eyes. Looks like theyve finally arrived.
Who?
Kurt didnt need to wait for long when Jeff and Wes appeared their hands full of bags, suitcases and a wrapped gift. Kurt groans. Oh no...
Kurtie! Jeff dropped his bags and ran to Kurt and hugged him close. Ive missed you so much.
Missed you too, Jeff. Kurt gasped for air. After the hugs and greetings Wes inspected the loft with curious eyes. What are youll doing here?
What do you think? Support you of course. Jeff said. Oh before I forget it. I made you a birthday gift, Kurt. He shoved a small blue wrapped present in Kurts hands.
Kurt looked at it curious, holding it close to his face. He could swear he heard it ticking.
Jeff pushed the present away from his face. Dont hold it too close to your face, it might explode. He winks and walked further into the loft, leaving a complete shocked Kurt behind.
Wes sighs. Come Ill bring it to safety or should I say us to safety?
Thanks Wes. Kurt quickly gave the unknown gift to Wes who quickly walked down the hallway. Kurt didnt want to know what was inside or what Wes was about to do. He just hoped he would see Wes return unharmed. He looked at his uninvited guest. Eh... coffee?
Blaine and Jeff both nodded. Blaine sat down on the couch, he couldnt resist the smell of Kurts cookies and grabbed one. The cookie melted in his mouth and he hummed his approval. Still delicious as always. You should be a chef.
Kurt shrugs, waiting impatiently for the coffee. Maybe. Finally he returned with the coffee. Only Blaine was sitting on the couch. Wheres Jeff?
Its Jeff, who knows. Thanks. Blaine grabs a cup of coffee and took a sip.
So how did you found out where I lived? Kurt asks.
I knew you worked in a dinner so I stepped by every dinner in New York asking your name. Blaine explains. Your boss give me your address.
Remind me to quit my job. Kurt joked.
Blaine didnt laugh. Sorry for the stalking part, Kurt and for not calling you or coming earlier. I wanted too, but Wes was beating me with a gavel to keep focus and finish up the performance I still had. I just.... sorry.
Its okay, I understand. I had school and work. Im happy youre here now. Kurt meant it. It was a big relieve that Blaine showed up and was with him to get through it. Im surprised nobody recognized you though, big super star and all...
Im not proud of it but... Blaine grabbed a yellow scarf out of his pocket. ... Jeff made me wear this. Kurt blinked against the ugly scarf hoping it would disappear with every blink. I know. Blaine quickly threw it over the couch, out of sight. Undercover and all. Nobody recognized me.
Because you were to bright to look at? Kurt quipped.
Blaine laughs, Kurt perked up at the sound. Kurt realized how much he had missed that sound, once it was the most beautiful sound in the world. Probably. Blaine agreed. But it wasnt the worst outfit Jeff made me wear though.
Not?
He once dressed me as a frog. But I could pull it off.
Kurt nodded. Blaine could wear almost anything and pull it off. He always looked good, no matter what he was wearing.
There was one outfit though..
What was it?
Are you sure youre ready to hear this?
Kurt frowns. Of course. Tell me.
It started with purple shoes...
Okay stop. I just cant. Kurt gave up. Blaine laughs. Kurt glares. Not funny. Purple shoes are a no go. Never ever let anyone tempt you into wearing it.
Blaine shrugs. I loved that outfit the most.
I know.
A comfortable silence fell. They both sipped their coffee. Blaines eyes fell on The Sound Of Music DVD, he perked up. Youre watching this?
I wanted to but Harris doesnt like it. Kurt explains, suddenly sitting up straighter. He forgot that Harris was still making a phone call in the bad room.
What? Who doesnt like The Sound Of Music? Its a classic!
Kurt couldnt agree more. He remembered all the times he and Blaine watched it during summer. They would sing along with the songs. The good old days.
Wes appeared into the living room, his face black with dark paint. Kurt gasps in shock. Dont ask. Just... dont. I swear, changing or not Im going to kill that little...
Boem!
Jeff appeared into the living room. Kurt, did you know there is a man in your bathroom?
Before Kurt could answer, Harris appeared, his phone still in his hand. Who the hell-? Harris stopped, glancing around the room. Who are these people?
Kurt got on his feet. They went to school with me, theyre my friends.
Oh... Harris put his phone away and fixed his tie. Even on his free day he was wearing a suit. Jeff eyed him curiously, it was obvious the man had not a style of his own. Jeff smiled, this guy just deserved to have a paint bomb thrown at him. Hello.
Harris this are Jeff, Wes and Blaine. Kurt gestured to everyone when he called their name. Guys this is Harris my boyfr-
Blaine Anderson?! Harris let out a exited scream. Kurt jumped back in shock. Harris walked with big steps over to Blaine, he towered over Blaine. Kurt hold back a laugh. The height difference was quit hilarious. Oh my... Im a big fan of your music. Youre new single "Summer Love" is amazing so deep and emotional. I cried for hours in my car.
Kurt quirked a eyebrow, staring at Blaine. Summer Love?
Blaine shrugs. My first original song thats been released. Ive written all words myself.
That love mustve been really intense. I could just feel the words through the music, right in my heart. Harris exclaimed. It mustve been a tough break up.
Hardest thing Ive ever experienced. Blaine said, keeping his eyes on Kurt who shuffled nervously.
Harris turned to Kurt. Isnt this amazing? Kurt you shouldve told me that you knew Blaine Anderson.
Why? This doesnt change anything about our relationship. Kurt shrugs, locking his eyes with Blaines. Hoping he would understand to not say anything about their past.
Am I the only one whos feeling uncomfortable? Wes muttered.
Yep, the sexual tension in this room is almost choking me. Jeff said loudly.
Sexual tension? Harris quirked a eyebrow. What do you mean?
Well, Blaine and you have one thing in common...
Enough out of you! Wes growls, slamming a hand over Jeffs mouth. Jeff stuck out his tongue. Ew, dont lick me, Sterling.
I wasnt finished yet.
Jeff! Shut up! Kurt glared at the blond werewolf.
Wes quickly grabbed Jeff by the arm and dragged him out of the room, but the damage was already done.
Harris walked over to Kurt. Kurt, whats going on? What did he mean by Blaine and me having a thing in common?
Blaine isnt just a friend, hes my ex.
Your ex? Harris glanced at Blaine. You mean, the ex? Kurt nods. Harris frowns, shielding Kurt of from Blaines view. What is he doing here?
Kurt sighs. Its a long story, Harris. Maybe you should sit down. Kurt sat down but Harris remained standing, arms crossed. Kurt had no idea how to start so he just started at the beginning. You know about werewolves right?
Harris nodded. My step brothers are werewolves. But you know about that. He glares at Blaine, who remained standing too, leaning casual against the kitchen table. He is one too?
Kurt nods, not surprised by Harris changed attitude towards Blaine. He didnt see Blaine the super star anymore, despite his calm demeanor, Harris could be really jealous. Kurt told Harris everything, about his first meeting with the Andersons, the discovery of werewolves, the beginning of his relationship with Blaine, without naming any details and their breakup. Then about his meet up with Blaine again in LA.
Harris eyes widened. You slept with him? He threw Blaine a disgusted glare.
Kurt looked down but nodded. Only once.
Well... Blaine interrupted. It happened four times that night.
Kurt glared at Blaine, shaking his head. Youre not helping. Kurt stared at Harris hurtful expression. He swallowed and blinked away his upcoming tears, crying wouldnt help. Thats not all. Im... Im pregnant.
Harris blinked his eyes in shock. He glanced briefly at Kurts stomach. Kurt looked at him. Please say something.
What do you want me to say? You cheated on me, Kurt. I just never thought you would do that to me.
I didnt... I just... it happened. Kurt sniffs. I wish I could take it back but I cant. I need to face the consequences. I want to keep the baby.
What do you expect from me? What about us? What about him? Harris points at Blaine. Kurt stared at both of them, he had no idea how to answer.
Im staying if thats what you mean. Blaine said. I still have some things to take care of in LA but Im not plan on leaving Kurt to deal with all this on his own.
Harris glared. You caused all this. If you did keep it in your pants this wouldnt even had happen.
I wasnt the only one in that room, I didnt force him! Blaine growls, clenching his fist.
Harris stepped closer. Go back to LA!
Harris, Kurt said, he noticed Blaine tensed demeanor and he didnt want Harris to get hurt. He couldnt stop Blaine if he lost control and he didnt want a repeat of the past. Kurt stepped closer to push Harris away but that only seemed to anger the once so calm lawyer even more. He lashed out at Blaine. Blaine quickly pushed Kurt aside and Harris fist hit Blaine right on the cheek.
Blaine barely felt the hit but his instincts just screamed at him to hit Harris back. He could hear Kurt take a deep breath. He could feel the blue eyes on him, almost begging him to not do anything. So he didnt. He stepped back.
Harris turned around and walked out, his fist tightly clenched. Kurt scrambled on his feet. Harris! Please wait! He ran after Harris.
Jeff and Wes appeared, looking at Blaine. What happened?
Blaine shrugs.
Who hit you?Jeff asks, staring at his cheek.

It took hours before Kurt would return so the three boys decided to make themselves useful and did some grocery shopping and found some cleaning supplies to start cleaning the loft.
Do you think Kurt would still want us?Jeff asks.
We could also go to the hotel. Wes said.
You two should go, but Im not going. Blaine said. I didnt ask you two to come with me.
Of course we are going whatever you do, Jeff said. Were your PAs. Besides, you need us to make right decisions. Blaine scoffs. So, when do you plan to win Kurts heart again? Why didnt you just hit that lawyer boy unconscious?
Violence is never wise. Blaine said. Wes and Jeff both stopped cleaning and looked at him in surprise. Dont stare at me like that. I wanted to, but violence doesnt bring Kurt back to me. It was one of the reasons we broke up. Kurt is against violence. I have to let Kurt see that Ive changed. He sighs, sitting down on the couch with a poof. He sighs. I love Kurt but I see how happy he is with that brat. He has moved on, maybe Its time to do that too.
Jeff laughs. Come on, B. Thats impossible.
Why?
Because you two split up two years ago and still you havent dates anyone. You compare any one to Kurt. Youre Kurt sexual. Jeff nods his head, even Wes seemed to agree.
Blaine rolls his eyes. What am I suppose to do then?
Not much, B, you and Kurt are getting a baby together. Thats HUGE! Wes exclaims. You shouldnt push Kurt too much, just show him youre there for him. Always, no matter what. Even if he comes to you for boyfriend advise. You have to be patient, understandable and for the rest be yourself. Make him laugh that kinda stuff.
Jeff nods. You did it once before.
Blaine smiled. I knew I brought you two along for some reason. He glanced at the clock. 6 PM. Kurt was gone for four hours. Maybe we should go looking for Kurt? Hes been away for too long.
Wes shrugs. He knows New York better than us, we have no idea where to find him. Well probably get lost.
Blaine started pacing, again fighting his instincts to burst through the door to find Kurt. He had to know if Kurt was okay. He grabbed his phone when the door opened.
A babbly brunette came inside, she tensed when she saw the strangers in her loft. She let out a sigh of relieve when she recognized Blaine Warbler. Blaine, Im so happy youre here! She gave him a bear hug.
Eh... okay.
The brunette frowns. Dont you recognize me? Im Rachel Berry, Kurts best friend. I was also the lead singer of the New Direction. We almost defeated you at Nationals.
Oh I remember! Blaine said, narrowing his eyes at the petite Brunette. Kurt hated her.
Rachel turned towards Wes and Jeff. Who are you?
Were Blaines crew, were his PAS and his best friends, Jeff said proudly.
Oh. Rachel turned back to Blaine without acknowledge their presence any further. Wes and Jeff glanced at each other already deciding that they didnt like Rachel Berry. So glad you could come, Blaine. Have you talked to Kurt already?
Eh, yeah, just briefly.
Oh, where is he? I still need to give him his birthday present.
Boyfriend troubles. Wes muttered.
Oh. Rachel looked sad.
Maybe we should go and check in a hotel. Blaine said. I dont want to invade any...
Dont be silly. You can stay. Rachel said, putting on a smile. Jeff coughs. You all can stay. Ehm... well, we have a small guest room. I think there is enough space for two people. She led them to a dark, small room that was just big enough to have a bed in it. There was no room for a closet or anything to put on your clothes. She looks at the three man. You need to fight it out yourselves.
Jeff and Wes pushed each other out of the way to enter the room.
Rachel grabs Blaines hand and led him to another room. I was hoping for this. This is Kurts room.
The smell of Kurt almost overwhelmed Blaine. The room was neat, the bed was covered in vintage blankets, there was a large closet, a night stand with a pile of VOGUEs on it, a large mirror that took on most of the space and a sketch book filled with sketches. On the walls there were a few wall papers of Beyonce, Lady Gaga and musical productions. The whole room just screamed Kurt.
As you can see Kurt has a bed big enough for two people, Rachel hinted.
Ill take the couch, I dont mind. Blaine said, turning around. Rachel followed, looking a little bit disappointed.
Sure a rock star like you ... Kurt wont mind.
Blaine shook his head. Kurt will definitely throw a fit if he found Blaine laying in his bed. They werent dating after all. I dont mind, Rachel. Really. Blaine reassured, parking his suitcase at the couch to make a statement.
Rachel nodded. Ill grab a blanket and a pillow. She walks away.
Wes and Jeff returned to the living room to grab their stuff. I cant believe you bit me. Wes scolded.
Jeff shrugs. All is fair in war and a sleeping place.
The door opened and a red puffy eyed Kurt stepped inside. Blaines heart could feel the pain, Kurt looked horrible. Blaine stepped towards Kurt. Hi, are you okay? Ok stupid question but what else am I suppose to say?
Kurt shrugs and walked straight to his bedroom, slamming the door behind him. Rachel returned with a blanket and a pillow. Kurt? Theyll nodded. Rachel gave Blaine the pillow and blanket. Here. Eh... order some pizza or something. She walks to Kurts bed room door.
Rachel, maybe it would be best if we just let him... Blaine started.
Rachel held up her hand. I got this. It might sound like a surprise to you but Im a expert in broken hearts. She looks sad and quickly disappeared to Kurts bedroom.
Blaine could hear them talk and then he could hear Kurt cry. He remembered the times he comforted and reassured Kurt. He really missed those times.
xxx
The ordered pizzas and split them between the four of them. Rachel reassured them that Kurt wasnt hungry and that he just wanted to sleep. Blaine wasnt so sure about that but Kurt has never been a big eater so he let it slide.
When the clock hit 11 PM theyll left to go to bed. Blaine couldnt sleep. All he could think about is Kurt. He was just one room away and still it felt like they were miles apart. He turned on the TV and mute the sound. He zapped through some channels, when a door peeked open and Kurt walked through. His eyes still red and puffy from crying.
Couldnt sleep? Blaine asks. Kurt jumped at the sound, he clearly hadnt seen Blaine sitting in the dark.
Blaine...
Sorry.
No its okay. Kurt said, walking over to the coffee machine. I couldnt sleep, which isnt so strange after the day I had.
Blaine nodded. Im sorry about the whole "we did it four times" thing.
Its not your fault, I shouldve been honest to Harris from the beginning. Kurt sat down next to him. Thank you for not beating him to death.
Blaine shrugs. No problem. I barely felt it.
We really need to talk about how were going to do this, Blaine.
You want to talk about it at... Blaine glanced at his watch. ... 2 in the morning?
Youre right. Well talk another time. Kurt nod, turning to the TV.
So how are things between you and Harris? Blaine asks, because he just had to know.
Kurt sighs. Hes still mad, which isnt weird. But hell cool down and come back to me. I just know it. Soul mates always find a way back to each other.
Blaine tensed. Oh... you think you two are...
Kurt frowns, staring at Blaine. You okay?
I .. I just thought... we are... never mind. Blaine swallowed away his words.
Did I say something wrong?
No... Ill grab the coffee. Blaine quickly stands up and walked to the kitchen. It took a few minutes before he found two cups. Kurt thinks that Harris is his soul mate.
Are you sure everything is okay? Kurt asks, walking into the kitchen.
Yeah. Blaine quickly filled the cups and walked back to the couch.
Kurt followed, sitting down on the couch. If you want to sleep, you should just say it and Ill go back to my bed.
I couldnt sleep either. Blaine sipped on his coffee. He leaned over to grab a DVD and waved Sound Of Music in front of Kurt. Shall we?
Kurt threw him a big smile. Yes please!
Blaine put the DVD in the recorder and the movie began. Kurt curled up under the blanket, leaning closer towards Blaine. Blaine noticed the small smile and the shining eyes. He hadnt seen Kurt this happy and content since he came to New York.
Maybe all was not lost. Blaine would do anything to get Kurt back. Wes was right. He had to show Kurt that he was changed, had grown up and he had to convince Kurt that their love was still there. It wont be easy, Blaine knew that. He had broken Kurts trust and needed to earn it back. But above all, he knew Kurt was worth it.
At the end of the movie, Blaine and Kurt were both fast asleep, in each others arms. Just like old times.
