It wasn't until the end of the day that Kurt saw the boy again. He gave him a passing glance as he headed outside and Kurt watched him go, wondering if he was always as rude as he had been earlier or if it had just been a rough day for him.
He didn't have long to think before Tina popped up by his locker with a somewhat worried look on her face and she nodded in the boy's direction as he walked out the door.
"Did you see the new kid?" She questioned.
Kurt nodded. "Yeah, I spoke to him earlier. He doesn't seem very friendly."
She laughed, nodding as well. "Yeah, he doesn't but...did you catch his name?"
Come to think of it, Kurt hadn't caught his name, had he? "No, I didn't. But I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point. Why are you looking at me like that, Tina?"
"Because his name is Blaine Anderson!" She blurted, causing Kurt's eyes to widen.
Surely there was a mistake. Surely the boy, who had been rude and sarcastic with him after just first meeting him, the boy who wore a leather jacket and carried a motorcycle helmet with him as he left the building, the boy who pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket with the hand not holding the helmet. The boy that matched that criteria surely could not be his Blaine, the Blaine he had been searching for for almost two years.
But there was just something about those eyes that made him think that maybe he was.

It took a few days of hallway passes, glances at lunch and during their one shared class for Blaine and Kurt to speak again. Blaine had been at his locker, getting his helmet out before leaving to go home, when Kurt stopped next to him.
"Let me see your ring finger," he said, to which Blaine turned towards him with raised eyebrows and a smirk.
"Who's being the rude one now?" he asked with a smirk. Kurt sighed. There was just no way he was his soulmate.
"Please just...let me see it. Here," He offered his own finger to him, stuck out so he could read his name scarred into Kurt's finger. Blaine sighed, showing his finger to Kurt, which he quietly gasped at.
There, etched into his left ring finger, was the name 'Kurt Hummel', his own.
"Well, this doesn't mean I'm going to let you hop on my motorcycle and ride off into the sunset with me, if that's what you're thinking," Blaine said with a quiet snort, pulling his hand back. Kurt had noted the differences in their hands; his was pale, delicate, and soft, while Blaine's looked more worn and tanned.
"I never said anything about that," Kurt murmured softly, biting his lip. This boy seemed so different from him. Kurt was polite (unless he need not be), a bit on the shy side, and assumed the best in people and looked at the world through rose-colored glasses. Blaine, on the other hand, seemed brash, hard, and not very friendly. They seemed to be two opposites, but he had always heard that opposites attract. He just wasn't sure how true that could be.
"Could we just...talk?" He asked with a hopeful smile. "We could go get coffee together at the Lima Bean tomorrow after school."
Blaine watched him, seeming to not like the idea very much, but there was also something in his gaze, something that appeared to be very much like curiosity. He finally shrugged and said, "Sure, why not?" and gave Kurt the faintest hint of a smile.
And in that little smile, Kurt had just a glimmer of hope in him that maybe he could make things work out. He had to. He had always dreamed of living the perfect life with his soulmate...and while Blaine wasn't exactly who he was expecting, it could work. And it would begin over nice cup of coffee.
