It was a Saturday, and they were home alone, with everyone else at work.

Blaine says it suddenly while they're laying together in Kurt's bed, warm and sated after getting each other off. Kurt had his eyes closed, on the edge of deciding on taking a nap, when Blaine's voice all the sudden cuts through the still air, the statement phrased barely as a question as it tumbles out quickly.

"Come to California with me."

Kurt's eyes open to focus on Blaine's, his eyes like honey in the afternoon light that steams through Kurt's opened curtains. "California? Right now?" He questioned, eyebrows raised.

Blaine laughed. "Of course not right now," he said, watching as Kurt's fingers brushed gently over the tattoos on his hips and ribcage. "I meant like...over the summer. I already talked to my parents about it. They said they didn't want me going alone...well, they didn't like the whole idea in general, but they said I needed to take someone with me and...I already planned on asking you anyways, so..."

"I have no idea what my Dad will say, but I'd love to go with you," Kurt said, grinning faintly. He'd never been to California before but, like New York, it had big cities and lots of shopping places, two things Kurt loved. "I can ask him about it soon, since it is getting close to the end of the school year."

"Which means close to graduation," Blaine said with a smile.

Kurt nodded and smiled, kissing him gently. He was so excited to be graduating. He had dreamed of the day when he would graduate, moving off to New York at the summer's end, hoping to find his soulmate on the busy streets or in a nice restaurant. But instead, he'd be bringing his soulmate with him to New York.

"So what all should I tell my Dad? You know how he has so many questions just when we come in the door. Imagine how many he'll ask when I tell him I want to head off to California with you."

"Well, I don't exactly know when the trip will be. Probably closer to the end of summer, so we can save up money. I want to go at least for a week or two. Driving, not flying. My parents already agreed to pay for a place for us to stay, as long as we pay for everything else."

Kurt's eyebrows rose. "Wow, that's really generous of them."

Blaine shrugged, smiling faintly. "They know how much where I'm from means to me."

They discussed plans more as they got dressed, knowing Burt would be coming home from work soon, and Kurt wanted to go ahead and get the asking out of the way, even if the trip was a ways off.

Kurt grinned when he heard the door downstairs close, holding Blaine's hand as he went downstairs.

Burt was wiping grease off on his pants when he looked up at the pair, raising his eyebrows. "Afternoon, boys...I don't usually get a greeting at the door. Do you need something?"

Parents just always knew when you wanted something. "We had something we wanted to talk to you about, sir," Blaine started, looking over at Kurt.

"Blaine asked me to come on a trip to California with him," Kurt said, looking from Blaine to his dad as he spoke. He watched his eyebrows lift as his mouth set into a frown.

"Kurt...a trip like that costs money..."

And then they started explaining, swapping back and forth, allowing each other to speak. Blaine told him how his parents had agreed to pay for where they would be staying and how important it was to him to go. Kurt promised he'd work extra at the shop, or even find a second job over the weeks prior to the trip.

"I'm not going to say no right now...but I'm also not going to say yes," Burt finally said as he looked at the two boys, who know sat on the couch across from him, where he sat in his armchair. "I need some time to think about this, and you two have plenty of time to wait for an answer. Until then...well Blaine, I can't really stop you from doing anything in the first place, but you two can work on saving up money for the trip. Kurt, I know you're responsible and can take care of yourself...I'm letting you go to New York for college after all but...a trip like this is different. It's not in the college environment where you'll be going to classes and doing homework. There's big cities with lots going on that doesn't involve academics..."

"Dad, if you think I'm seriously going to do something crazy like get into drugs while I'm there..."

Burt sighed, shaking his head. "I'm not trying to say anything just...I need to make sure you're responsible and have enough money to get you there and back. I think it's really great that Blaine's parents are providing money for a place to stay, and if you can prove to me that you can meet me halfway on this, I'll help you guys out as well."

And even if it wasn't a definite answer, it was close to a probably, which in Kurt's mind was really close to a yes. After having some lunch, Kurt told his Dad they were going to the park. On the way there, they got a bit sidetracked, celebrating what they viewed as a success with talking to Kurt's dad by making out in the back of Kurt's car in the lot behind the grocery store.

And maybe he ended up rutting down against Blaine until they were hard and panting, quickly snaking hands into each other's underwear to jerk off.

Blaine wrinkled his nose at the feeling of his underwear as he pulled his pants back up, raising his eyebrows as he watched Kurt shimmy out of his underwear, pulling his pants up. He looked over at Blaine, laughing a little at his expression.

"What?" He asked, buttoning up his pants.

"Nothing just...I wouldn't peg you as one to go commando," Blaine said with a shrug.

Kurt chuckled quietly and smiled, leaning over to kiss him with a hum. "There's still plenty of things we don't know about each other, you know."

Blaine nodded in agreement as they got back in the front seats, driving to their original destination. He would have never admitted it to himself before, but it was nice to just do couple-y things, like walking around the park.

Especially when Kurt ran off in the direction of the swings, with Blaine's eyes traveling down to his ass, remembering how he didn't have any underwear on under his jeans. He bit his lip and grinned, following after him.

So maybe his mind happened to be in the gutter a majority of the time, but he just couldn't help admiring his beautiful soulmate.

Catching himself use that term made his heart beat in the strangest way.
