Blaine’s eyes refused to drag open.
He remembered two things.
A) Kurt’s note.
B) Falling to the floor afterwards.
He sighed in annoyance. Kurt had drugged the paper with holy oil and, with just a touch; Blaine had clonked out almost immediately.
Damn Kurt.
Holy oil usually knocks an angel out for a human night, so Kurt deprived Blaine’s mind of the ability to overwork its way through the period of time human’s craved so heavily.
Blaine lifted himself off the stone floor feeling heavy. He knew his angel powers were going to slowly fade out and, until reaching hell, he would be useless.
He looked around the small, angel-proofed cell. There was no sign of Kurt, which set Blaine wondering how long demon’s considered a human night to be; and more importantly, when it ends and breaches morning.
Blaine sat cross-legged with his eyes shut on the cold floor. Heaven was a little more rubbery than this. He hoped, for some pointless reason, Hell would be a little less… dull.
Blaine knew what falling entailed. He would slowly become powerless and end-up more human everyday; but never would he ever be one of them.
The first reason for this was the fact his angel blood would never fade, even if their powers did.
The second was because he was a negative creation. His species of angel were created in such a hurry that he was not quite… finished when life was thrust upon him. Therefore he would always remain with at least his little finger shoved into the door to Heaven.
The final reason was that Blaine was going to stay in Hell. No human or their soul at least, could ever get into Hell. They wouldn’t survive. It would kill them; and that’s if they don’t get tortured to insanity first.
Blaine tried not to think about what he would become, and let the benefits of being alone swamp him.
He remained in a still trance, eyes closed, on the cell floor, until a feeling he was not alone creeped up on him. He let a smile sneak into his calm features and opened his eyes slowly.
Sure enough, Kurt stood within the cell. His eyes seemed darker than yesterday. The blue displayed a deep ocean instead of the skies Blaine saw yesterday, and he knew one thing; humans who swim in deep oceans drown.
But Blaine was no human.
“Up, Angel, we have to get moving.”
Kurt’s tone matched the stone cover around his eyes. It was cold and distant. Blaine had his work cut out for him today.
He said nothing as he stood, still smirking.
Kurt raised his eyebrows.
“Oh get that look off your face. If you do that all the time I will not hesitate to show you why I am a demon.”
Blaine ignored his words, yet Kurt said no more as he stepped towards Blaine.
“You are to stay still, focused and silent. Demon transportation is slightly different to Angels’.”
Blaine stayed still. Blaine stayed focused. Silent, however, was a different matter.
“I have questions.” Blaine pointed out in stubborn nature.
“There will be time; but currently is not yet then, so follow instructions and shut up.”
This time, Blaine obeyed.
“Now, Angel –” Kurt was cut off.
“I have a name, you know.” Blaine raised his eyebrows.
Kurt sighed.
“Now, Blaine” –Blaine nodded smugly in attentive recognition “–when I take hold of your shoulder, follow my former instructions.”
Blaine did not need to show he understood. There was a short silence before Kurt’s hand wrapped lightly around his shoulder and Blaine clamped his eyes shut. He had not time to linger on the warmth it sent through him as it had already been lifted.
Blaine’s eyes flew open.
Before him was a field.
The sun blasted over it.
The grass swayed brightly in the breeze that could be felt.
Earth.
He flew round to face Kurt.
“Why am I here? I’m never here. I’m supposed to be in Hell?” Blaine tried, and failed, to stop his last statement forming into a question. He didn’t want Kurt to know about his indifferences with Earth.
Kurt seemed to be watching Blain’s reaction carefully. His former tense posture had been wiped clean and now he looked at the Angel in curiosity.
“Pit-stop”
Blaine relaxed a little. He watched Kurt settle onto the fresh, grassy floor and prop himself back on his palms. Blaine sat into his usual cross-legged position.
“You had questions.”
It came out as an accusation more than a question.
The two boys’ eyes met.
“Y-yes…” Blaine stammered. Earth made him feel uneasy.
“First of all though, how come you can zap around? Demons can’t do that!”
It was Kurt’s turn to smirk. Blaine expected it. Yet, it did not appear.
“Lucifer’s youngest.”
Oh.
Kurt waited for the next question, unwilling to elaborate; so Blaine moved on.
“How come you can not just zap into Hell then?”
Kurt laughed this time.
“I love how you say ‘zap’ as if it’s that easy.”
“It was!” Blaine exclaimed.
Kurt shook his head. “Not for the driver –passenger gets it easy.”
Blaine frowned and Kurt realised he still had not answered the previous question.
“I can. I have… privileges. Selected few, you know?” Blaine did know; he just wasn’t one of them in Heaven.
“I didn’t this time because I am under strict instructions myself. I may have ‘custody’ of you, as your mentor you are my responsibility and… property” Kurt’s face turned a light shade of pink as he said that, intriguing Blaine.
“But my elders can still control what I do –and that means using the correct entrance that all demons use. Well, the ones allowed usage, anyway.”
Blaine frowned, still pondering over the word property. He didn’t like the thought of being owned, not that he had a choice, but he hoped it would not be slave work. Blaine couldn’t be a demon’s slave. He just couldn’t.
“What am I going to do in Hell?” Blaine came out a little more pathetic than he hoped.
“Whatever I tell you.” Kurt said simply. Blaine watched his eyes narrow.” Actually, we need to have a discussion about that.”
“We do?” Blaine tried not to laugh at how equal Kurt sounded to him. Kurt may be a nice piece of ass, but he was not expecting a demon to pretend him to be an equal. It never worked that way. Species didn’t mix, despite the lack of caring Blaine had for that fact. Everybody lives in the universe and is identified by a species. Blaine found it stupid to make boundaries beyond that. Still, he was not used to the equal tone.
“In Hell, Blaine, in the place where you will remain, a lot of people will try to control you. People that think they can because you are not the kind of person that should be there. Damn, an angel in hell is scarce. I only know one other and he is the one who brought you in.”
Kurt repositioned himself so he was mirroring Blaine’s cross-legged stance. He then continued.
“They are capable of more than you think. But you are to answer only to me, you hear me?”
Kurt’s oceans flooded Blaine’s vision.
“Why you?”
“Custody issues” Kurt whispered. Blaine let out a breathy laugh.
“So I’m a demon’s bitch, just fucking great.”
Kurt closed his eyes and sighed.
“I shall sort out those issues. My elder has his reasons, I was told them in the time I was absent from you, but they are to be pitied. They are poor excuses.”
Blaine had no idea what Kurt was on about it. He gathered Lucifer had told Kurt his reasons, but, in all honesty, Blaine did not want to know them after seeing the look on Kurt’s face. It was desperate.
Kurt sighed and thought back to the conversation with Lucifer.
“I’m fed up with you moping around as if this universe is too god damn dull for you.” Lucifer’s voice spoke.
“It isn’t dull” Kurt retorted. “It’s just conflicted and complex and nobody really knows what to do with it.”
“That’s why we do what we wish, Kurt.” Lucifer’s eyes sparkled. He seemed to find enjoyment in taunting Kurt for his sexuality and individual stubbornness. A gay demon with those sorts of memories was a rarity that Lucifer could not pass up.
“The Angel will be your play thing.”
“A play thing?” Kurt scoffed. His eyes glazed over as he stared intently at Lucifer; who, seemingly, was not affected. “I do not need a play thing –and certainly not one organised by you!”
Lucifer ignored him.
“He is to be under your orders. He is to stay with you when he is not in The Depths. You are to use him at your pleasure and torture. I hear the Angel has a liking for Earth. You can take him there when you wish as long as he does not leave your view. I hear there are plenty of places to do the dirty, so to speak, away from prying eyes of your own kind. That Angel’s far too full of himself for his own good. Bring him down a few pegs, by all means, but build him up first.”
Kurt sighed, knowing full well that most of that would not be happening. If the Angel had to be under his mentoring, then fine! He would be. But play thing? Lucifer was ignoring the fact species do not mix. Lucifer was encouraging it, in fact! Yet again, he was trying to steer Kurt off of his resistant path. Kurt refused to see it through. He turned to leave.
“And Kurt?”
Kurt stopped.
“Have fun.”
He heard the joy in his elder’s voice and tried not to shiver.
Although Kurt would refuse if his elder ever asked, he was infatuated by the Angel. He took no orders from hell. He did not care for species, so it seems. Plus, Kurt had let his eyes wander when Blaine appeared to be looking away; and damn that Angel was a sight to see. Kurt imagined slipping his fingers through Blaine’s belt loops to pull him closer as he let his arms slide round and…
Kurt wiped these images from his brain. He refused to let his elder win.
“What are we waiting for?”
Kurt had forgotten Blaine was there. He had become caught within thought and fantasy and ignored current time. He often did that.
“The opening”
Blaine looked around.
“Where?”
Kurt sighed for the umpteenth time. The Angel was impatient.
“We are waiting for it because it is not yet here.” Kurt mocked. His features softened when he saw Blaine’s hurt eyes however. His face had remained light, but Kurt could tell the hazel drops were deeper than that.
“You’ll know when it arrives.”
He had a sudden urge to lean over and grasp Blaine’s naked hand. He resisted though, refraining from thinking about Blaine’s history. He had never been good with sob stories; and he certainly did not need an attachment to the Angel now!
It was then –thankfully –that Kurt heard the light click. Blaine’s features shifted, letting Kurt know the first-thought-oblivious-yet-obviously-more-attentive-than-that Angel heard it too.
Kurt stood, closely followed by Blaine, as wandered to the middle of the field. He looked for the stop he rarely saw anymore, as he did not need to enter this way, but remembered with ease.
Upon finding it he turned to Blaine and beckoned him over with a deliberate smirk. He went to place his hand upon his shoulder when Blaine spoke in a low, gruff voice.
“Don’t make your mouth sit like that whilst summoning me to follow orders; even a simple one. I refuse to have a fetish for orders.”
Kurt wasn’t sure if it was Blaine’s inner dialogue spoken aloud or whether he was meant to hear it, but he knew it did things to him he would never admit.
He placed his hand on Blaine’s shoulder again slowly, standing behind him at a close proximity, trying not to let himself imply too much by it, and whispered, “The three orders”.
Blaine’s eyes fell shut at the touch and couldn’t help but whisper “so hot”.
He did not see Kurt flush tomato. He did, however, feel Kurt’s hot breath on the back of his neck. The warm feeling creeping below the belt did not falter Blaine, but did send him on the verge of a shiver.
Even though Kurt was unaware of this, Blaine regretted letting himself see Kurt this way. He knew he was going to end up becoming the slave.
Damn, demon, he thought.
Kurt was going to have to prepare himself for Blaine’s filter to break. From now on, Blaine was on one mission, baring in mind his actions in Hell could not really do anything to harm him now. So what if he needed to follow Kurt’s orders? So what if Kurt had orders. Maybe he could convince Kurt to do what he wanted if he wanted to abide by his elder’s rules.
Kurt seemed like a goody-two shoes to Blaine, despite the something else, and he knew he would have to keep Blaine under control.
Before the pair fell through the Hell portal; Blaine remembered stepping back, and feeling something hard against his ass. Maybe this would not be as hard as Blaine first thought.
