Chapter 4
As Axel left the stage he was left to be consumed by his own thoughts. There were no more thousands of people to entertain. No more pretending. No more being himself and nobody.
However, this show was different from all the rest.
He was distracted the entire show, but it didn't seem like the crowd noticed, Axel still knew how to dazzle a crowd - distracted or not. It was a quality he always possessed; he knew how to get the crowd going and make every person watching him feel as if they were watching some great magic show unveil. In which, in a way they were. People never knew what they would get watching him and the band perform. If Blaine's persona "Axle B" was one thing it was a bundle of surprises.
He was abruptly taken away from his thoughts when he joined his band mates backstage.
"NOW THAT IS THE AXLE WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE!" Sue exclaimed while patting the singer on the back.
Blaine just stared and took a chug of beer as the manager continued. "Do you think you can do as great of a job in front a reporter like you do in front of a crowd?"
"A reporter?" Sue always told Blaine he wasn't allowed to do interviews whether they be on t.v or in a magazine. She always said "We don't need you slipping up and saying something you don't need to be saying. Plus, if you keep holding out that makes them want you more!"
"Yeah a reporter, hobbit! I guess since your height can't possibly decrease anymore, your senses are giving in eh? Look, We need to promote the band's new album, and the "Rolling Stones" magazine is dedicating a whole issue to you guys, you specifically, so they sent a columnist to interview the band."
"Oh" was all the singer could say. So, Blaine just took another gulp of his drink. The last time he was interviewed, he got stuck with Sue as a manager. So yeah, he was a little nervous. He may have not been interviewed much, but he knew how these things went. He wasn't comfortable with people asking him questions, personal or not. Sue always kept people at bay from him, including his family so he wouldn't have to endure that. And not to mention, he feared he would slip up about his secret. But being him, and always having to please people, which he wasn't doing such a good job with nowadays, especially with his fellow band members, he agreed.
Sue must've sensed the singers uneasiness because she pulled him to the side and stated, "Look, I know your nervous about the interview, I can sense it. I'm not worried about you telling people you being gayer than Ru Paul and Elton John watching Disney movies together... plus, I met the guy interviewing you, he's new to the magazine and probably doesn't even know what he's doing, and plus, he happens to be a huge fan of the band so that works in our favor. So don't worry about it."
All Blaine could say was "Okay" as he downed his second bottle that night.... God knows he was going to need it. When he drinks, he forgets. And Blaine knew it was far too late to go to his old life so, he just chose to forget. So, as Blaine opened his third bottle, he started to relax a little, knowing that with a few more beers in his system, he won't even know his own name. Sure, he won't be able to answer the columnist questions at his best and will most likely embarrass himself, but that is way better than slipping up and saying something he would totally embarrass himself.
"Okay, well the reporter is waiting for you in your dressing room. I told him he only had 20 minutes so try not to say something gay, stupid, or matter fact don't say anything Blaine would say. Now let's get this over with."
As Blaine walked to his dressing room he thought about the countless questions the reporter could ask and the answers to follow.
But when he opened his door he did NOT expect to see what or rather who was waiting for him.
-The Interview-
When the singer walked inside the dressing room Kurt didn't really know how to react.
He knew he was there for his job, for business but everything in Kurt wanted to just gush to the singer about how much his music helped him, how amazing the concert was, and oh yeah - how he was kind of in love with him all throughout high school.
It was pretty difficult to do either with the singer just standing in the doorway staring at him like he was some kind of foreign object. So he decided to break the awkward silence by introducing himself.
"Uh, Hi Axle... I'm Kurt and from the Rolling Stones Magazine... I'm here to uh interview you.... But your manager probably informed you about me and the magazine and the interview and I'm sorry for rambling I'm just a reallybigfan"
The singer just continued to stare at him the same way he did when he walked in. After a while he finally snapped out of whatever trance he was in.
"Wh-what?" the singer finally acknowledged.
"Oh, I was just saying how I'm here from Rolling Stone Magazine to interview you. My name is Kurt."
"Kurt..."
"Yeah um Kurt." Kurt didn't know why the singer was acting so strangely so he just concluded that he was probably drunk. He didn't mind, if history told anything it's that drunkenness equates to honesty or just a really entertaining interview and god knows he could needed both. "So, ready for the interview?"
"Uh, yeah" Axle replied.
"Okay, great! Um, do you want to sit down and get comfortable? This might take more than a couple of minutes."
Blaine finally realized he was standing in the same exact spot he was in when he walked into his dressing room less than 10 minutes ago. All that was going through his head was that's the guy! The guy who he can safely say was the reason he was distracted the entire concert, whose perfect blue eyes and delicate face look so out of place at his concert but fit perfectly at the same time. And now he was here in his dressing room!
He quickly found a seat farthest from the beautiful reporter.
"Okay so Axle, your songs have inspires millions of people of all ages. The diversity that you have with writing songs are pretty incredible..."
Blaine shuffled in his seat "Uh, um yeah I just write whatever comes to mind. Nothing else really to it"
" Yeah I understand that but your album Twisted Savior has sold millions! Every single song on that album is nothing like the next, that is something that very view bands and artist could say about their music now-a-days."
"I just write whatever comes to mind. One minute I could be thinking about-"
"About?" the reporter urged him on. But the singer was not responded to he just decided to fill on the sentences. "About life, love, music, etc..."
"Yeah! That." Blaine smiled at the bashful reporter.
Kurt heart may have fluttered at the action but he then remembered that the singer was currently all booze up at the moment but oh that smile, he never saw anything more beautiful. He quickly snapped out of his thoughts. "Okay so who are your musical influences?"
"Uh, Well Da doors, AC/DC, Pink F-floyd, Ramones, Da Who ... yeah."
The singers speech was starting to slur but the reporter continued anyway "Ah I can totally see those influences in your music! Okay so what made you start a band?"
"Uhh I didnt start band ... um m-my friens Wes and Nick helme start band. Wejus really l-loved music!"
Kurt could clearly see the singer was drunk and although he thought before how interviewing like this would be a good idea; he was now having second thoughts. " Uh okay." he supplied.
But the singer kept talking " I just - I just really love music. Music is the only thing that doesn't hurt me. I love Wes and Nick, their my friends but deir mad at me right now. I don't like them being mad at me."
Kurt didn't know how to take what the singer was telling him. Should he just keep going to see what he could get out of the singer? Or should he just end the interview the singer all together? And what does he mean by music doesn't hurt him? Kurt was so confused but the singer just continued with his drunken banter.
"Sueis always mad. Da onthing she likis money, and all she doesis makefun of me for beinggay"
"WHAT?" Kurt didn't think he heard correctly. Did the Axle say he was... gay? That didn't make sense. He was just making out with a girl on stage less than 20 minutes ago! Kurt didn't really know how to react but he had to admit this would be great for the article! He could see it now ‘ Legendary rock star maybe strait rock n' roll but is definitely NOT straight' making headlines everywhere. But, Kurt knew he could never do such a thing as outing someone, especially a world famous rock star. However, this news is pure gold considering this was his first interview on his first day on the job. Putting this in the article would no doubt certify him praise and not to mention bump up his cred as a reporter.
"Oshit I-I wasn't suppose to tell you"
Kurt looked at the intoxicated singer and felt truly sorry for him. He didn't know much about him, but he could see that he was hurting and something like this getting out could not only ruin his career but his life. "Well, uh, we will just keep that part off the record. Kay?"
Before the reporter could say anything else, there were hot wet lips on his in seconds.
