Author's Notes: I guess this is a kind of prologue. It's only short but I'll try to make the other chapters longer, I just liked how it ended.
"3... 2... 1... Coming to fiiiind you Blainers, ready or nooooot!"
Madison Williams had been best friends with Blaine Anderson her whole life. That said, they are only 6. On that occasion, they were playing at Blaine's house. Well, the garden, to be specific. Blaine had never been good at hiding, but Madison was never very good at seeking so it equalled out.
After 5 minutes, Madison was stumped. She couldn't think of where Blaine could possibly be, she'd looked behind the bench, on the other side of the tree, round the side of the house...
Suddenly, there was a muffled giggling combined with a quick "shhhhhhh!" coming from behind her. Of course! The bushes! She sprinted over and found that her best friend had made a new friend. Lying down, Blaine's face was being tickled by a rabbit (who quickly shot off on Madison's arrival). Up until that point, Madison never knew just how ticklish Blaine was and took the opportunity to launch an attack of flicking fingers under the boy's armpits and across his chest and tummy.
Eventually the pair's stomachs were aching from laughter and they lay on the ground, trying to stop laughing any more.
"Maddy, can I ask you something?"
"Sure!"
"Well... You know at school... Do you... Do you ever want to kiss any of the other girls?"
"Um, no, but I really want to kiss Mikey. Why, do you want to kiss a girl, Blainers? Oooooh!"
"No! I... I kinda want to kiss Harvey. But I- I don't think boys are meant to want to kiss other boys, Maddy. I mean, I have a mommy and a daddy, and you have a mommy and a daddy, none of the other kids have a daddy and a daddy, but Susie has a mommy and a mommy."
Blaine looked like he was close to tears. Madison just reached for his hand and said, "Blainers, I think you're allowed to want to kiss whoever you want to kiss. I don't see why it's anybody else's business."
"So you don't... You don't think I'm weird? I was worried you'd think I was broken and you wouldn't wanna be my best friend anymore," the boy said, wiping a tear from his eye.
Madison rolled over, enveloping the most important person in her world in a huge hug. "Blainey, I'll never stop being your best friend. I'll still be here if you want to kiss girls, or if you want to kiss boys, or if you want to kiss plants, or horses, or... You get the idea. I'll always love you whoever you are!" By now they were both lying there, crying and hugging each other.
"Do you think I should ask my mommy about wanting to kiss other boys?"
"I think you could. Or we could google it!"
"Ooh, we could! We should go inside and then decide what to do, it's kinda cold out here."
The girl stood up, pulling the boy up with her, and the two made their way inside, fingers laced together, safe within their childhood innocence.
