Chapter 12

Right in that moment the doorbell went off …

Kurt was pretty shocked when this happened. He wasn’t expecting someone. He was pretty confused (maybe still by his dream?!), but got up from the couch anyways. He forgot to check himself in the mirror and didn’t realize that people could still tell that he was crying.

He opened the door and came face to face with his teacher.

“Blaine? Ummm… I mean, Mr. A.. Sorry. But … But what are you doing here?” Kurt asked after his first shock about seeing his teacher standing in front of his house once again.

“I… I … I don’t even know!” Blaine answered and bit his tongue in his mind. “No, wait. I... I do know why I’m here. I … I wanted to .. to check on you. I mean you weren’t in school today. And I … I …” Blaine said while rambling all these words to the other boy.

“You what?” Kurt asked in disbelief. He wasn’t sure if he heard his teacher correctly. Why is he here? And why does he always look so good. Gosh, wait I was just crying my eyes out about my dream. And now he is here. I don’t get it.

Blaine heard the question and finally looked up at the other boy. And with that he saw that Kurt must have been crying. His eyes were all red and puffy. But he still looks amazing. Gorgeous even.

“Umm … I … Are you ok? Have you been crying? Is everything ok with your dad?” Blaine asked without breaking eye contact.

Kurt on the other hand squirmed under the sad look he was getting from his teacher.

“I .. I … Yes, I am ok. And so is my dad. We were just watching my favourite movie!” Kurt said. And I don’t even know why I am telling you this. It’s not like you would care or know the movie.

“Oh, ok. I see. What is your favourite movie then?” Blaine asked. And he really wanted to know the answer.

“Umm, … Moulin Rouge?!”

“Are you asking me or telling me?” Blaine asked with a slight grin.

“I am telling you this actually. And I don’t even know why…”

“Gosh, I love this movie. I cry every time I watch it. And I guess that is something you don’t wanted to know… “ Blaine said and turned a little red. Why can’t my brain just shut up when I need it to?

OMG, is he serious right now? He loves that movie too? Can he be any more perfect? Ugh. Kurt thought to himself until he realized that they were still standing in the doorway of his house.

“I can’t believe you even know that movie.”

“Are you kidding me? Of course I do. ‘Come What May’ is my to go song. I could listen to this song on loop. Actually there are days where I just do that to be honest.” And once again I’m rambling in front of him. Just great.

“Umm. Would you … Would you like to come in? It’s kinda weird talking on the doorstep if you ask me.” Kurt answered and moved a little so that Blaine could step in.

Blaine thought about the question. And he knew that he really should say no to the offer. But his mind was playing tricks to him, so he answered with “Yeah, I mean yes. I would love to.” Blaine said.

With that he passed by Kurt and went into the house. He got rid of his shoes and watched Kurt while doing so.

Kurt closed the door to the house while Blaine was taking off his shoes. He couldn’t help himself from staring at his ass. Ugh, I hate him. No, I don’t. But that is not even fair right now. And why am I thinking about him in that way? I love girls, right? What the hell is going on? And why is he here?

He catched up with his teacher and lead him over to the living room where Burt was still watching the end credits roll over the screen. Actually he was wiping his eyes when he heard that Kurt was talking to someone. He turned around in his chair and saw that Blaine was back. He sniffed a little until he spoke.

“Blaine? What are you doing here?” He asked and Blaine turned another shade of red in his face.

“Ummm, I … I just wanted to check if Kurt was ok since he wasn’t in school today and I was pretty worried about him. I mean we said that I would see him again today. But after he wasn’t in my class this morning I asked around in the other classes. But all teachers said he wasn’t there. So I needed to make sure, that he is doing ok - I mean after what happened yesterday of course…” Blaine rambled and looked kind of defeated. He didn’t really know what he was talking about right now. Nor did he know what he was saying in front of the other man.

Kurt was standing right behind his teacher in the hallway and heard every single word he said. He also blushed a little at those words and couldn’t help the smile that was appearing on his face.

Is he being serious right now? Is he really THAT worried about me? How is that even possible? I’m not the only student in his class. Does he go to other places as well? He wondered.

“O-K-A-Y. I see. That’s really nice of you, Blaine. I mean I appreciate that you care about my son so much. But a call would have done it as well, don’t you think?” Burt asked with a small chuckle.

When he heard that question he bit his tongue. Burt was right. I could have called. Why am I even here then? What is wrong with me…

“Yeah, you are right. But to be honest, I didn’t even think about the fact. I was just glad that I already know where you live. I’m sorry, if I’m invading your privacy here.”

“Nah, don’t you worry about it, son. I like you and I’m glad, that you care about my son so much. And you are always welcome in our home. Got it?” Burt asked and smiled a little. Forgotten where the wet eyes from watching a movie with his son. And Blaine only nodded at that, not knowing what he could even answer to that.

Speaking of Kurt. Kurt was still standing in the doorway with his mouth open. Gaping at what he just witnessed. Not only his father’s words made him react like that. But also Blaine’s. What is going on here right now? Are they bonding over me? And what does he mean: He was worried about me? Kurt was trying to get his head around everything he just heard. He coughed a little and both, Blaine and his dad, looked over to him, realizing that he was still around.

“Oh, Kurt, I really hope you don’t mind me being here right now?” Blaine asked with a huge question mark in his voice. Please, don’t be mad at me.

Kurt was at a loss for words. Was he mad at his teacher for being in his house again? He wasn’t really sure. He was kinda glad that he made such an effort for him - even if he didn’t understand why he would do that. But he was impressed in some way.

“I … I … No, I’m not mad. Why would I be? I’m glad and grateful that you would did that for me!”

“Of course I would. I told you yesterday that I will look out for you.” Blaine responded.

“Yeah, right. I guess I forgot about that!” Kurt said with a little disappointment in his voice. He wasn’t sure if that was Mr. A.’s only reason to check up on him, but he took it anyways.

Ok, that didn’t sound very convincing. What is wrong with him? Is something bothering him? Maybe I could talk to him alone. Just the two of us… Blaine thought to himself and watched Kurt closely while doing so.

Kurt on the other hand didn’t know what to do. His teacher was here. In his house. And it didn’t look like that he was leaving any time soon.

“Kurt, could you get something to drink for Blaine?” Burt asked his son who just rolled his eyes.

“Sure. What would you like?” Kurt asked Blaine who also saw the eye roll.

“Why don’t I come with you and check out what you guys have to offer?” Blaine suggested and followed Kurt to the kitchen. Leaving Burt behind who turned the tv to an old football game and let the boys be.

“I … Y...Yeah, ok.” Kurt answered - still unsure of what to think about all of this.

Both men made their way over to the kitchen. Kurt went over to the cupboards and got out some glasses. Blaine went over to the fridge and looked inside.

“I could always make you coffee, if you want one?” Kurt asked.

“No, thanks. I guess I already had enough of that this day. I mean since I was worried about you I turned myself to coffee. But it didn’t really help on the matter!”

Kurt watched his teacher with wide eyes. Not knowing what to think of all of this. He was confused. By everything.

Blaine got himself some juice out of the fridge. “Would you like some too?” He asked Kurt and watched him by his side. Did Kurt look scared? But why?

Kurt wasn’t sure how to act around his teacher. He tried to reach out for the juice, but Blaine hold it back from him.

“Why… why are you … ummmm, doing this?” Kurt asked and was answered with a slightly smug from Mr. A.

Blaine had way too much fun to torture his student and had no clue how much it hurt him though.

Kurt once again tried to reach the juice box and this time he thought he had it. Until he realized he grabbed Blaine’s hand instead and Blaine didn’t pull his hand away. When they touched a known sparkle shout through both of them. They both locked eyes and saw that the other’s eyes were sparkling. Neither of them knew what was happening.

They removed their hands from each other but still looked in each others eyes and moved closer in together. And closer. Their foreheads were almost touching.

Kurt thought about his dream from earlier. Dancing with Blaine to ‘Come What May’ and the kiss they shared in that moment. It felt so nice. So right. I want to know what it really feels like. I want to kiss him so badly. But this is so wrong in so many ways. And how am I supposed to think straight when he stands so close to me…

Before Kurt could finish his thoughts he felt a pair of lips on his. He wasn’t shocked per se but it took him a moment to realize what was happening right now. Kurt didn’t have time to think about his reaction until he realized that he was kissing Mr. A. back. Slowly but strongly. Neither of them deepened the kiss. They somehow came back to reality and it registered to them what was happening. Blaine needed some air.

While he took some deep breaths he looked back at Kurt and realized what they just did.

“I … I … I have .. have to … go! Sorry.” With that Blaine stormed out of the door and out of the house.

Kurt took some deep breaths as well. Still stuck from the kiss and his feelings for said teacher. He didn’t really hear what Blaine said. Just saw him leaving.

“B … Blaine, wait!” He called after his teacher. But it was too late. He was gone.

What the hell just happened here?!
