Author's Notes: Part 1 of the Lima Bean meeting! :)

The Lima Bean was oddly empty for a late Thursday afternoon, much to Kurt’s dismay. He was secretly hoping the place would be filled with unsuspecting strangers, or to Kurt, unknown audience members.

Kurt walked in to find Blaine sitting rather secluded in the back corner of the coffee shop, smiling broadly at Kurt. He was sitting far away from other customers, obviously wanting privacy for him and Kurt, which Kurt certainly did not appreciate.

He wanted an audience. He wanted people to witness him smacking Blaine down at the hand of God. He wanted Blaine to feel as humiliated and upset as Kurt did throughout his entire freshman year.

Or maybe he just wanted to be seen having coffee with Blaine.

No. The first option. Definitely the first option.

Kurt rolled his bright blue eyes at the small boy in the corner and started to make his way to the counter to order a coffee, before Blaine shook his head at him and held up not one, but two coffee cups. One saying "Blaine", and the other, written in thick black Sharpie, "Kurt".

Kurt stood puzzled for a moment, wondering what the hell possessed Blaine to order him a coffee. There was no way Blaine knew what he usually ordered. Did he just guess he liked something in particular? That wouldn’t be stalker-ish, would it?

When Kurt arrived at the table, Blaine silently handed him the coffee and gestured for him to sit beside him, which Kurt did instantly, but not before eyeing him suspiciously, cueing for Blaine to explain.

“Non-fat mocha.” He whispered. Kurt’s perfectly shaped eyebrows raised up to his impeccable hairline in complete surprise.

Maybe he IS stalking me.

Blaine chuckled at Kurt’s expression and shrugged, taking a sip from his own coffee.

“B-but…I…what?” Kurt stammered, instantly regretting opening his mouth in the first place.

“I may or may not have asked Mercedes what coffee you usually order.” Blaine stated, making Kurt roll his eyes once again. Of course Mercedes would be in on this. “And I felt it was the least I could do, considering you agreed after countless times of me even trying to speak to you, to have coffee with me.”

Kurt's jaw dropped while his eyes widened dramatically. Blaine ignored the look and continued.

“And now that we are partners for Glee, it only makes sense that I treat you, as you are treating me to your incredible vocals for the week.”

Kurt snapped back into reality when Blaine mentioned the assignment for Glee this week. Maybe he shouldn’t humiliate him yet? Maybe he shouldn't make a big scene to embarrass him? However much he wanted to embarrass Blaine, Kurt still wanted to do well in this week’s assignment. Kurt sighed, not sure where his thoughts were taking him. Blaine stared at him for a moment.

“Are you going to say anything? Or…”

Now that his thoughts were deceiving him, Kurt didn’t really have anything to say to Blaine right now. He took a sip of his coffee timidly, only to find himself humming in an approving tone at the incredible taste that hit his tongue, relaxing him instantly. They aren’t lying when they say coffee can help with anything.

Whoever they are.

“Kurt, I believe you are the one who invited me here to talk, and now you’re giving me the silent treatment? Again? Honestly, if you’re not going to talk to me then –“

“I don’t understand.” Kurt breathed.

“Don’t understand what?” Blaine asked, confused by Kurt’s statement.

“I don’t understand… y-you.” Kurt whispered, staring down at his coffee as if it were the most interesting thing in the whole world.

“Me?” Blaine replied “What do you mean by that?”

Kurt sighed. Screw it.

“I don’t understand how you can just waltz into McKinley High with your charming stature, your perfectly rock-hard hair, you’re fashionable bowties and become the most liked guy in school! Seriously, Blaine! The fact that this is my fourth year in this hell hole and I’m only just becoming likable is understandable, I’ve worked hard for 3 long years, taken slushies to the face, ruined so many incredible outfits by being tossed into dumpsters and shoved into lockers, been humiliated and embarrassed everyday until I was finally accepted as someone who people could remotely like, and you come in a ruin it in one fucking day! And everyday after that!

“I don’t understand why people like you so much. Why people have decided to go back to ignoring me, and are going to you for advice and homework help. Hell, even Mercedes goes to you for help with her fashion choices nowadays, which I am very impressed with, might I add, but still! And the fact that everyone loves you and you love them. It sickens me, Blaine! It’s not fair! You’re just Mr. Perfect, and I’m a loser that nobody even cares about anymore!”

Blaine sat completely still, eyes glued to Kurt’s flushed face and frustrated expression. Kurt sat breathing heavily, too exhausted to even think over what he just yelled in Blaine’s face. He'd been wanting to say all that to Blaine for months, yet now that he had finally done it, he didn't feel any different. Except tension and awkwardness was the only thing that Kurt felt now that was remotely different, which is something he wasn’t expecting. Why isn’t he saying anything? Kurt pondered.

Finally, after what felt like forever, Blaine spoke.

“…You really think I’m charming?”

Kurt narrowed his eyes at the smaller boy, and then raised an eyebrow.

“Out of everything I just said, that’s the first thing you can think of to respond with? Oh my GOD Blaine! You really are a selfish, arrogant dick!”

Blaine’s eyes widened at that last comment.

“Hey, now. I was only kidding!”

Kurt tutted, there was nothing worth kidding about right now.

“Okay” Blaine began “first of all, I am not a selfish arrogant dick.” Kurt rolled his eyes, taking another sip of his coffee. “Secondly, you’re not a loser! Not even close! And third, I’m not perfect. Nobody’s perfect.”

I beg to differ. Kurt thought.

Although whether he was referring to himself or to Blaine, he didn’t know.

“Is that really how you feel, Kurt?” Blaine asked quietly, looking at Kurt with wide eyes filled with worry and concern. Kurt looked up and locked his gaze on those big, beautiful eyes, entranced by their colour and, dare he say it, their sparkle.

Kurt nodded slightly, still staring into those mesmerizing eyes.

“Why are you so calm?” he asked. “I mean, why aren’t you angry? Or upset? Or embarrassed? I just yelled at you in the middle of a public residence, and you’re just sitting there asking how I feel?”

Blaine shrugged. “Let’s just say this isn’t my first public confrontation.”

“W-what?”

“Kurt, I’ve transferred to many different schools all over Ohio, and each of them had a certain someone who took a disliking to me. You didn’t think you were the first, surely?”

Kurt was the one to shrug this time, confused by Blaine’s relaxed nature.

"I mean, when I met my ex, that was at the third school, and he helped defend me in some circumstances, but then, just stopped making the effore..." Blaine trailed off, obviously letting his thoughts go off on a stroll down an incredible dark and dreary memory.

Sympathetically, Kurt ignored the comment abot Blaine's "ex" and went back to a different part of the subject.

“How many schools?” Kurt asked.

“Five in total” Blaine sighed “and all of them sucked. Well, except McKinley, of course. This confrontation is a lot tamer compared to the others.”

There’s more. I know it. There’s something else he’s not telling me.

“From the look on your face, I can tell you’re intrigued.” Blaine tittered. “Basically, the others were between me and a few homophobic boys, and or teachers in some situations.”

Kurt took another sip of his coffee, waiting for Blaine to continue, to tell him more about these so called confrontations. He didn’t understand why he was so interested, after avoiding the boy for so long, he shouldn’t care what he did at his old schools.

And yet, he did. And was desperate to find out more.

“I won’t go into details” Damn, thought Kurt. “But I will say this…”

Blaine leaned forward over the table, staring directly into Kurt’s eyes. He could feel Blaine’s breath ghosting over his face, unnecessarily causing Kurt to gulp. He hasn’t been this close to boy’s face since…

“…I think the reason people like me so much here is because of one thing and one thing only.” Blaine whispered, making Kurt give him his full and undivided attention.

Kurt looked down and then returned to Blaine’s soft gaze. “And what would that be?” he asked innocently.

Blaine took a deep breath and smiled his usual dazzling smile.

“…You.”
