If there's one place I know Finn will be it's the football field. He spends half his time there these days. Even though football season is over, he's there everyday trying to avoid everyone. Well not everyone. He doesn't try hiding from me because as much as he hates Quinn and Puck right now, he can't help but want to know what's going on in glee. Just as I suspected, he's on the field, running through drills, drenched in sweat. I walk down to the edge of the field and watch him. He just looks so pissed and betrayed, and it in turn makes me pissed. I notice a football beside me and pick it up. I aim a little in front of Finn, and throw it, missing him by milimeters. He skids to a stop and whips his head towards me. He just stares at me for a minute before slowly making his way towards the locker rooms, with me following behind him. Once inside the locker room, Finn heads to the showers and I head to the corner the farthest from the showers and wait for him to be done. When he is done, we sit on the benches in silence until he finally speaks.
"What are you doing here Alli? Shouldn't you be at sectionals kicking ass or something?"
"Or something is more like it. We can't win without you. It isn't going to happen. Yes, we have more than enough members to qualify, but honestly, you're the best male singer we have. Granted, all the others are awesome singers, but me and you both know that out of all the guys, you and Kurt have the best voices, but only yours works for about 99.99% of the songs Rachel picks. I love the other guys, but we need you. I have to get going, because whether or not you're there, I need to be or else we will have no chance of getting second place." Without giving him a chance to say anything, I walk out of the locker room. I pull my helmet and jacket out of the choir room, and hop on my motorcycle and head to sectionals. I probably left a very confused Finn in there, but sometimes, a confused Finn, is a smart Finn. Once I get to Sectionals, I head to the green room. When I step into the room, I can almost feel the tension.
"Wow, did we lose already?" I check my watch, "We don't even go on for another hour and a half. What happened?"
"Where do you want me to start?" Kurt asks.
"Beginning might be nice," I tell him.
"Quinn dated Finn, cheated on him, got pregnant with Puck's baby, crushed Finn's heart, Finn hasn't been seen in a little over a week, everyone is freaking out because this is our first time at sectionals, Mr. Shue was banned from competition, and oh, the other schools are doing all of our songs and Artie wont stop raming his chair into the wall," He told me, sighing deeply and taking a seat on the couch.
"Um, wow, okay so I knew most of that. Thank you Kurt," He just shrugs. "Artie, I swear if you don't stop rolling into that wall, I'm gonna chain you to the table. Now, would anyone like to tell me how Coach Sylvester got our set list?"
"Why do you assume it was Coach Sylvester?" Santana asks. I just look at her. "Okay, so she's the only that would do that."
"I told her." Brittney says. "She asked me for it but I didn't know what she was gonna do with it."
"Okay, Mercedes, do you have anything else you could sing that would blow the roof off this place?" I ask her.
"Nothing as good as what Rachel will sing," She tells me.
"No, Mercedes, that is your spot light out there," Rachel protests.
"No, if we have any chance of winning, you have to sing," Mercedes argues.
"Well, there is something I've been working on since I was 4." Rachel replies.
"Perfect! Okay, anyone have another song for us to sing?" I ask the group.
"You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones?" Quinn suggests.
"Terrific! That is a great song."
"Yeah, now we just a third song to wrap it all together." Puck says.
"I may have a solution to that," a voice says from behind me. I turn around and see Finn. I smile at him encouragingly and go and sit next to Kurt. "I downloaded the sheet music online and used the Cheerios copy machine. I trashed it when I was done. Mike, Brittney, you guys are in charge of coreography."
"Okay, but it''ll be choppy," Mike says, unsure.
"That's good. We're better when we're loose."
"Guys, I think we're back in this thing." I say and high-five Kurt.
"You know we are. Let's get to work!" Rachel orders and together, we come up with a pretty kick-ass routine and win 1st place. When we get back to school the following Monday, Mr. Shue was in for a big surprise.
"So, Mr. Shue, I'm not sure how it happened, but our disfunctional group managed to put together a terrific set list without our director. Which then lead us to win this pretty awesome trophy." I say as we all step aside and reveal our trophy to a very surprised and excited Mr. Shue.
"Wow guys, I am so proud of you! You know what this means right? We have to get ready of regionals. They aren't that far off and-" Mr. Shue starts before Finn interupts him.
"Actually Mr. Shue, We have a surpise for you." And with that, we perform our final number for him, and just really have fun with it. Little did everyone else know, Mr. Shue wasn't the only one watching us.
