Kurt was allowed home later in the week, but was restricted to a wheelchair as there was no way in hell he'd be able to walk with his broken leg and ribs. It was frustrating for Kurt to be unable to do anything for himself, but he was glad to be at home instead of stuck in a hospital bed.

Sleeping was an issue for Kurt every now and then as he'd wake up sweating and shaking after reliving the night of the attack, but Burt had agreed to let Blaine stay over for however long Kurt needed and he was always right there to make Kurt feel better. Blaine's parents weren't the happiest with the arrangement, but they knew Blaine would just end up sneaking out to be with Kurt if they tried to stop him.

“So…” Blaine said as he and Kurt cuddled up on the sofa with a movie playing in the background. “My parents really want to meet you.”

Kurt made a little humming noise, signalling for Blaine to continue.

“They asked if you wanted to come over for dinner tonight but you don't have to if you don't feel up to it.”

“I want to,” Kurt said quietly. “But I can't promise I'll eat a lot.”

Kurt hadn't been eating much since he'd gotten out of hospital. He'd eat a few mouthfuls but that seemed to be enough to fill him up. The sixteen year old had clearly lost a lot of weight, but he was gradually getting better at eating more food.

“It's okay,” Blaine said, burying his face in Kurt's hair. “They won't mind.”

“Okay.” Kurt mumbled, snuggling further into the comfort of his boyfriend.

After getting permission from Burt, Blaine took Kurt to his house and introduced him to his parents. Kurt seemed nervous about leaving the house – he hadn't been anywhere since he'd gotten out of hospital – but he was okay once he was in the car. Blaine gently eased Kurt out of the car and into his wheel chair once they reached his house, doing his best not to hurt him in the process. Blaine wheeled Kurt into his house and into the kitchen where his parents were preparing dinner.

“Mom, dad?” Blaine said, getting his parents attention. “Um…this is Kurt.”

Kurt waved shyly as Blaine's parents made their way around to the other side of the kitchen.

“So this is the boy that's stolen our son's heart,” Blaine's mom said, causing Blaine to blush and Kurt to laugh a little. “I'm Sarah and this is John.” She said, pointing to her husband.

Kurt smiled, unsure of what to say when he was enveloped in a gentle hug from Blaine's mum. Blaine couldn't help but smile as Kurt wrapped his arms weakly around Mrs Anderson, hugging her back with as much strength as he could. When Sarah pulled back, Kurt shook Blaine's father's hand before Blaine announced that they were going into the living room until dinner and Kurt was wheeled away.

Blaine knelt down in front of Kurt's chair and carded his fingers through his soft brown hair, smiling when the boy leant into his touch. “Are you okay? You seem really tense.”

Kurt nodded a little. “I'm just nervous. It's the first time I've left the house since I got home and…I'm okay, I promise.” Kurt said softly, as he always did.

“Are you sure?” Blaine asked, continuing to comb his fingers through Kurt's hair. “I'll take you home if you're uncomfortable.”

“I'm sure,” Kurt smiled. “I wanna stay.”

“Okay,” Blaine said with a smile, pressing a kiss to Kurt's nose and making him giggle. “Let me know if you change your mind, okay?”

“Mhm.” Kurt said, nodding.

Kurt attempted to eat dinner on one of the chairs at the dining table in Blaine's kitchen, but it was far too painful and he told Blaine that he was uncomfortable so he awkwardly sat lower down in his wheelchair the whole time. Kurt didn't eat much, but he happily replied to questions when he received them, much to Blaine's surprise. His voice was still extremely quiet, obviously, but he was speaking a lot considering he'd only just started speaking again.

After dinner, they made their way into the living room and Kurt sat happily in his chair, laughing as Blaine's dad told embarrassing stories from Blaine's childhood. He wheeled himself over to where Blaine's parents were sitting and looked at pictures from when Blaine was younger, cooing over his chubby little face and ridiculous curls.

“You guys are awful.” Blaine pouted.

Kurt grinned, wheeling himself back over to Blaine as his parents put a movie on the TV.  About halfway through the movie, Kurt's face scrunched up in pain and he grasped his side.

“What's wrong?” Blaine said, sitting up worriedly.

“My ribs.” Kurt squeezed out, trying not to cry.

“Can you get him some water please?” Blaine asked his parents, rifling through the bag that was on the back of Kurt's wheelchair for his painkillers.

Blaine's dad came back into the room a few moments later with a glass of water and handed it to Kurt. Blaine carded his fingers through his hair soothingly as he took the medicine, smiling a little as Kurt closed his eyes and tilted his head into Blaine's hand.

“Do you wanna go and lie down?” Blaine asked, Kurt shaking his head in reply.

“I'm okay,” He said to Blaine before turning to Blaine's dad. “Thank you.”

Mr Anderson smiled and rubbed Kurt's shoulder gently before making his way back over to his wife. They watched the rest of the movie before Kurt said that he was tired and didn't feel well, so Blaine took him home. He told Blaine on the way home that he liked his parents and Blaine smiled widely at him.

Once they reached Kurt's house, Finn and Blaine helped him get his chair upstairs and Blaine helped him into his pyjamas, still barely able to look at the huge bruises covering Kurt's chest and stomach without feeling sick. He pressed a kiss to Kurt's forehead once he was in his pyjamas and wheeled him into his bedroom, helping him into bed and tucking him in.

“Do you need me to stay?” Blaine asked, gently stroking his thumb over Kurt's cheek but making sure he didn't press down on any cuts or bruises.

Kurt shook his head with a small smile. “I'll be okay.”

“Okay.” Blaine smiled, pressing another kiss to his forehead before leaving him to sleep.

Telling Blaine that he didn't need to stay didn't become a problem until Kurt woke up the next morning. He blinked his eyes open and laid in bed for a few moments before he realised he couldn't get out of bed – and even if he could, he couldn't get his chair downstairs by himself. His dad was the only one home as Carole had to go to work and Finn had school, and he couldn't call out for him because his voice was too quiet.

He turned his head to the side, getting an idea when he saw his phone on his bedside table. Weakly reaching out for the phone, Kurt grasped it and dialled his dad's number.

“Kurt? Why are you calling me?” Burt asked confusedly.

“I can't get out of bed.” Kurt said quietly, eliciting a light chuckle from his dad.

“I'll be up in a minute.” Burt laughed, hanging up the phone and making his way upstairs.

He helped Kurt out of bed and into his chair, carefully wheeling him downstairs.

“I hate being in this thing.” Kurt groaned as Burt eased the chair onto the floor and took the brakes off.

“Really? I could never tell.” Burt teased, rolling his eyes.

Burt made Kurt some breakfast before leaving him alone to eat it, going back into the living room. Kurt wheeled himself in a while later.

“Dad?” He said quietly.

“Yeah?” Burt replied with a small smile, still not used to hearing Kurt's voice.

“When am I going back to school?”

“Do you want to go back to school?” Burt asked.

Kurt nodded uncertainly. “I want to, I just…I'm scared. The idea of leaving this house is terrifying...and people are gonna be talking about me and looking at me strangely.”

“People are going to talk no matter how long you wait,” Burt pointed out. “But you'll have Blaine and Finn looking out for you. You can go back whenever you want to, but don't feel like you have to, okay? You don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with.”

“Okay Daddy.” Kurt said, sounding childlike as he wheeled himself out of the living room and tried to occupy himself for the rest of the day.
