Kurt was an expert at hiding. That was for sure. It came with the acting, he supposed. He had been diagnosed with depression in his sophomore year, it was only minor back then, but was still something that dictated his day to day life. Last year, it had really developed into something more. All of the trips to the dumpsters, the slushies, being denied of solos, death threats...it all builds up and takes over. That's when it all started. The cutting, that is. Kurt didn't want to, at first, but it was the only way he could gain some sort of happiness. The pain just faded away, melted almost, just for a little while. All he needed to do was take a razor, and everything got better. His medication helped and kept him under control, but it was always still there, simply hiding beneath the surface and so were the scars.

Upon meeting Blaine, things got undeniably better. In fact, some could say that all of his symptoms disappeared almost completely. That's when he put the blades to rest, ended the habit without anyone ever finding out. He still took the medication, but his doctor had allowed him to go to a lower dosage. When he and Blaine became a couple and were finally together, he had never felt better in his life. It was as if he never had those feelings to begin with. With Blaine, everything was good; with Blaine the world was better. Even when he was attacked by cold drinks or referred to as "fairy", "homo" or "queen" he would be okay, because Blaine was at his side.

“Hi there, handsome!” said Blaine as he appeared next to Kurt’s locker, bouncing up and down. Kurt smiled at his boyfriend’s enthusiasm and couldn’t help but give a chuckle.

“Hello to you to!” he laughed, leaning in to peck Blaine on the lips, “What’s got you so jazzed up this morning?”

Blaine feigned being offended, “Can’t a guy just be excited to see his lovely boyfriend?”

“Would this excitement have anything to do with the fact that I’m wearing your favorite skinny jeans with the bow tie that you gave me?” asked Kurt, coming to the realization of his outfit choice.

“Maybe” confessed Blaine, blushing slightly, “I think this is the best you’ve ever looked!” Blaine was just about to lean in to give Kurt a kiss when someone pushed them apart, forcefully.

“Get a room, lover boys!” insisted Santana, pushing her way in between them. “What the hell did I do wrong that got me the locker in the middle of the two of you…”
mumbled Santana, twisting her lock and opening the door.

“Morning to you too, San…” said Kurt, grabbing his books out of his locker and gabbing Blaine’s hand. The two walked away and headed towards homeroom. Once in the classroom, they took their seats next to each other and began to gossip about the latest celebrity drama and local drama with New Directions. Throughout the entire conversation, Kurt noticed that Blaine was definitely more hyped up than any sane person would be on a Friday morning spent in class. This confused Kurt more so because Blaine Anderson, at least the one he knew, was most definitely not a morning person.

“Blaine, seriously…you’re like a ball of pep this morning! What’s up with you?” asked Kurt, raising his eyebrows.

“I have something to ask you,” said Blaine, pursing his lips.

“Oh, god…”

“No, no, no! This isn’t bad, Kurt!” explained Blaine, reaching next to him and grabbing Kurt’s hand off of the desk. “I know we were planning on having a marathon of the Bachelorette tonight, but I was wondering if maybe…”

“Spit it out, Blaine.”

“I was wondering if we could go to Thad’s party instead!” said Blaine, barely breathing between words. Clearly, he wanted to go. Kurt, however, was not so thrilled about this idea.

“Thad, as in Warbler Thad?” Kurt asked, rising one eyebrow in question. When Blaine nodded his head, Kurt sighed deeply. “Blaine, you know Thad doesn’t like me.”

Blaine gasped, a little over dramatically, “That’s not true!”

“You’re right,” said Kurt, “he hates me.”

“Kurt, that’s not true.”

“Really, Blaine? Come on, you know it is. Face it, Thad is in the closet and has a thing for you. He just doesn’t want to admit it. I can’t say I blame him, of course, you are adorable. But, the fact is, the moment you started spending time with me, I became the enemy. Oh God, and when you asked me out…” Kurt could have gone on and on if his boyfriend hadn’t cut him off.

“Has it really been that obvious that he’s gay?” asked Blaine, biting his lip. Kurt gave an affirmative nod, “Oh, thank God… I thought it was only me.”

Kurt laughed and intertwined his fingers with Blaine’s, “Look, I know you miss the Warblers and that’s why you want to go, so I won’t be the stick-in-the-mud boyfriend that says you can’t, because that wouldn’t be fair. But, if Thad says one thing to me I don’t like, I will be releasing my wrath on him, okay?”

Blaine giggled and put a smile on his face, “Whatever you say, Kurt, whatever you say…”

Hours later at Glee club, things were pretty boring. Mr. Schuester was going on about how important it is to attend the mandatory Booty Camp and was slowly getting into a heated argument with Puck who didn’t want to go because he had a date with some girl at Breadstix planned.

“Mr. Schue- this girl is hot! I can’t just not show up!” explained Puck, trying to reason with the man.

“Puck, your relationship status isn’t going to help us win Nationals!” said Mr. Schue.

“Woah, woah, woah! I never said I was looking for a relationship, I’m just looking for a good time is all!” continued the boy with a Mohawk.

Kurt couldn’t help but laugh, which caught the attention of the curly haired boy sitting next to him. “What’s so funny?” asked Blaine, leaning towards him.

“The fact that Mr. Schuester actually thinks Puck is going to show up at the Booty Camp…” said Kurt, still laughing.

“Well, wouldn’t he miss his date if it meant helping the team?” asked Blaine, clearly unaware of the way things worked around McKinley. Kurt couldn’t help but smile at his boyfriend’s innocence.

“Afraid not, sweetie. Puck is...Puck. He’s a teenage boy with raging hormones.” Blaine only nodded, but the way he furrowed his eyebrows showed he was not yet used to this kind of set up. At Dalton, anyone would give up a date or previous commitment for a practice or meeting. If it meant helping the team, it came first. That certainly wasn’t the way things went with New Directions, that was for sure. “By the way,” said Kurt, interrupting Blaine’s thoughts, “what’s the occasion for the party tonight? Or is Thad just taking advantage of some parental vacation?”

“Oh, Thad’s birthday, I think he’s turning eighteen…but don’t worry, you don’t need to bring a gift or anything. I’ve got it covered.” Kurt smiled as he and Blaine returned to watching the drama before them unfold. Kurt wasn’t overly excited about seeing Thad, in particular, but this party was a great chance to get out and try to get to know Blaine’s friends a little better, even if some of them were already his friends. Either way, the more he thought about it, the more he was happy about going to tonight’s party.

End Notes: Don't know how I feel about this yet... review please!
