KEEP ALL THE REVIEWS COMING!
Im sorry for updating late. I had to reread the previous chapters so I could match the hints I put in there in this chapter. However, this chapter consists of 9,000 words which is almost equivalent to 2 chapters-My minimum word quota for every chapter is 4000 words-so I hope that would compensate for updating this fic so late. This is as of now the longest chapter that Ive .
Reminder before reading this chapter:
-this took place in 2027 (2022; five years before), so medical technology had been greatly modified
-This is an Mpreg story which is not real in the first place
-Lastly, This is a freaking FANFICTION, anything can happen here
So do not make hate comments/reviews if you deem this chapter so unrealistic.
Enjoy!
Im not dreaming. Blaine concluded when he felt the slight sting of a needle poking into his tanned skin.
Blaine was laid upon the hospital bed, staring blankly at the white walls of the room as the medical technologist transfer his blood to Andre.
Andre...
Blaine p-please... S-save our baby... Save Pickles.
Blaine p-please... S-save our baby... Save Pickles.
Blaine p-please... S-save our baby... Save Pickles.
Save Pickles.
Save Pickles.
Save Pickles.
Thats what Kurt had last told him before he was forcefully dragged to the emergency room; he didnt even have the chance to ask Kurt to clarify what he had meant.
But does he need to? It is crystal clear that...
Pickles is alive.
Andre is Pickles.
Andre is his son.
"Im a father," he said aloud, his voice mixed with fear and astonishment. "Im a fucking father!"
"Uhmm... uhh... congratulations?" The nurse told him unsurely, perplexed why the man had started spurting nonsense. Dottie Kazatori had encountered a lot of people while she served her duties in the hospital, and this short man was definitely one of the odd people. The man had been creepily quiet when Doctor Rose had ushered him inside the room, staring at nothing in particular. She had asked him the requisite questions before transferring the blood to another person, but the man didnt even blink his eye as a response to her. Dottie then turned to the head doctor in-charge of Jean Andre Hummel, but the doctor just told her to continue with the blood transfusion.
Blaine didnt register the deference that the nurse gave him, he was still focusing on the idea that he was-he is a father. He had been a father for five years. He is a dad and he didnt even fucking know. He had been suffering for five years because he thought his child was dead, but everything was all just lies.
Why?
Why did Kurt lie to him? Why did he hide his child from him? And why the fucking hell did Kurt let Adam be the father to his son? HIS SON! His and Kurts son. The child that he thought was born from Kurt and Adams love is really his own flesh and blood.
He was ready to let go of the love that he had for Kurt because he saw how happy Kurt was with his new family, but... but now that he knew the truth that he is Andres real father, he can only feel anger at the pale man.
Rage is a better description. Kurt had denied him his son for five years. He made him suffer for five years and because of what? For telling Kurt that he should have aborted the baby? Should five years of separation from his own baby be a punishment for saying such careless thoughts? Isnt that too harsh for one drunken mistake?
The only drunken mistake that he truly regreted was saying to Kurt that he didnt want the baby, but the most perfect mistake he had done was accidentally sleeping with Kurt, thinking it was Sebastian at that time, and making the most beautiful baby ever.
"My baby..." Blaine whispered and the tears pooled from his eyes started falling. He turned his head to look at his son who was still lying unconscious on the next hospital bed. Just like him, Andres arm was also connected to the blood bag where Blaines blood was currently being processed to give to Andre.
"My beautiful baby boy..." he cried and tried reaching to him. So he lifted his arm nearest to Andre, which is also the arm where the nurse had connected the blood bag, but the nurse had immediately grabbed it and laid it close to his side again.
"Sir please, do not raise your arm," Dottie instructed him fiercely, though it came in vain because of her squeaky voice. Years of practice helped Dottie not to be too attached to her patients, so that she could continue her job properly. Even though she saw the helplessness in the eyes of the tanned man, she ignored it and scolded him. "The blood circulation might be disrupted if you keep on moving, sir."
"But... but he is my son..." Oh, how great Blaine felt when he uttered those words. "My son..." he repeated the fact again just because he wanted to. It wasnt even relevant to the nurses instruction, he just really wanted to say it, and if Andre was not sick and if he was not obstructed by the walls of the room, he would have climbed to the roof top and shouted for all New York to hear that he is a father... that he is Andres real father.
"Andre will be alright, sir. His health is not in critical danger anymore," Dottie assured him while tiredly studying the statistics of the Hummel kid which had been handed to her earlier. "We just needed your blood to help him replenish the blood he had loss at a faster rate."
Blaine knew that, Doctor Rose had told that to them earlier, but hearing it again made the thorn in his heart be extracted.
After a few minutes of just staring at his son, Blaines eyelids started getting heavy, tired of the events unreeled today. They had had started from the second most horrifying dinner he ever had-dinner at Paris was the most tear breaking for him because it reminded him of Pickles, but is it even included now that he knew that Pickles is alive?-to his outburst in the washroom. He now understood why Andre cannot be involved with Keya - because he is an Anderson himself-to the panic he had felt when he saw Andre unconscious on the restaurant floor and quickly rushed him to the hospital. Finally, to finding out the truth about his real relationship with Andre.
"Im a father," he said to himself, fighting the urge to sleep. Blaine is still afraid that this is all just a figment of his imagination, that he is so desperate to have his family back that he made up a story in his head that Andre is his son. So just to make sure, he pinched his arm hard with his left hand, and he couldnt be more grateful to the person who discovered that you cant feel pain while you were dreaming, because pain indicated that Blaine was fully awake; all of the things had happened tonight are real and that...
"Pickles is alive," he uttered again, happy silent tears falling down from his eyes as he watched his sons sleeping figure. He was too enamored at the continuous breathing of his son that he didnt notice the nurse taking out the needle from both his and Andres arms.
"Sir, here please drink this," Dottie told him and helped him sit up on the bed. She gave him a pill and a cup of water so he wouldnt pass out from the blood donation. "You may exit the room after you drink the medicine."
Blaine blankly followed her order, but made no move to get out of the room. He will never let his son be out of his sight again. "I cant. I need to be with him," Blaine pleaded.
The nurse bent her knees slightly so she could level her eyes to the short man. "Andre will be alright, sir. We just needed to transfer him out of the emergency room and to another unit," the nurse gently explained. Part of her job is to help the relatives of her patients to ease their anxiety concerning their sick loved ones. "All he needs is a lot of rest and your sons energy will be back in no time."
Then Blaine grabbed the nurses shoulder and pleaded, "Please say that again."
The nurse had been surprised by the mans demand, but she still complied after seeing the desperation on his eyes. "Uhmm... uhh... his energy will be b-"
"No no no... the part before that..."
"Uhmm... he just needed a lot of rest?"
"Not that... the other part... please..."
Still perplexed why she was asked to repeat herself, she tried to recollect what he had said to the man earlier. "Uhmm... your son will be transferred-"
"Again." Blaine demanded.
"Your son will-"
"Again."
"Your son-" By the time she was cut off by Blaine again, she knew the words that the short man had been wanting to hear.
"One more time."
"Your son. Sir, you have a beautiful boy." She gave him a crooked smile, still confused why he had been reacting like that. Didnt he know that he is a father? But then again, her patients personal lives werent her business. She made a quick glance to Dr. Rose, silently asking for help on how to deal with the man in front of them, and she gave her a worried smile and lifted her pointer finger, indicating to give her a minute, and then she watched the doctor exit the room.
"I have a son," Blaine repeated again and let go of the shoulder he was gripping earlier. His heart still lay restless to the idea of him being a father, and hearing that he is a father from other people gave a mixture of fear and gladness in his heart. He was about to stand up from the bed and walk towards his son when someone gently pushed him onto the bed again.
"Blaine..." His brothers voice, full of sympathy, rang in his ears.
"Coop... I... I..." Blaine managed to say before the waterfalls came rushing from his eyes which were still locked on his sons face. "Im... Im a d-dad." He looked up to his brother who was standing beside him. "Im a father, Coop," he said with trembling voice.
"Shh... shh..." Cooper engulfed his baby brother to a tight hug, giving all the comfort he needed. He felt so useless for not saying anything to ease his brothers emotional state because he was also surprised at the turn of events. He had a hunch that maybe... somehow Andre was related to Blaine when he found out that Andre and Blaine had the same allergic reactions to cherries. Allergies to cherries are rare and it is almost impossible that they had the same reaction and not be related to each other. He would have pointed it out during the dinner, but the abrupt shout of Kurts dislikes with the Andersons which made Blaine leave the dinner table halted his intention.
Cooper would have told his oblivious brother about his speculation later that night, but Kurt had beaten him to it when he revealed that Andre is Pickles. Despite his bewildered idea during the dinner, he was still astounded by the admission about the real identity of Andre. After Blaine was dragged to the emergency room, he just spent the entire time watching agape at Kurt who was crying helplessly in the British mans arms. By the time he had taken control of his mind and was ready to attack Kurt with questions about Andres birth, he was called inside the room by Dr. Rose to help her calm his brother down.
Coopers musings were interrupted when Blaine jerked in his embrace and shouted anxiously. "Andre! No! Dont take him away from me!"
Fortunately, Cooper had been gripping him tightly, so he had prevented Blaine from going berserk on the nurses. "No... shh... baby bro... calm down..." He used one hand to keep Blaine from running towards the nurse who were pushing Andres bed outside the room, and the other hand to rub gently on Blaines back. "They are just transferring him to another room and you can see him again."
"I... I h-have to be there, C-Coop," Blaine pleaded between hiccups. "They m-might take him a-away from me aga-again."
"No they wouldnt. I promise you that," Cooper swore to his brother. He lay Blaines head on his shoulder because he doesnt want to see the how wrecked his brother had become after knowing that he is Andres biological father. He could only feel sympathy with Blaine because he knew how hard it is to be separated from your child. There was one business meeting Cooper had to attend in Florida just after Jenna had given birth to their daughter, and he had to leave his family for a whole weekend. Easy to say that he was not been productive on the trip because he had kept on worrying about his family in New York. After that, he was adamant about taking Jenna and Keya on every business trip he might schedule in the future. Cooper was only separated from Keya for just 3 days, and it nearly killed him, so how much more could Blaine feel for being separated from his son for more than 5 years?
Cooper still remembered the day Keya was born; the first blink of eye that her daughter did made a churning in his stomach, and he cant describe how happy he was at that time. He felt sorry for his brother for not experiencing those kinds of joy... poor Blaine had been denied all of his childs firsts.
Blaine trusted his brother; he knew that Cooper would do anything to prevent him from being hurt again. He trusted Cooper that he will be allowed to see Pickles-Andre again. So without any doubt to his brothers promise, he stopped fighting with sleep and let his body be lulled to the warm and assured embrace of his brothers promise.
"Im scared," Kurt confessed to Adam.
It had been hours since Andre was transferred to a private hospital unit and Kurt was grateful for Dr. Rose for letting them stay in his sons room even after the visiting hours were over. Kurt, even though he was repeatedly comforted by Adam and assured that Andre was safe and healthy, was still worried about his sons welfare, and he would remain anxious until he sees those gray eyes blinking at him again.
"I know you are worried, but everything will be alright," Adam assured him again and embraced Kurt, so that the pale man was partly seated on his lap and his face was buried on Adams shoulder. They were both seated on the couch inside Andres hospital room, snuggled together so they would comfort each other through physical contact. Adam wasnt Andres biological father, but he had always treated the kid like his own. Despite the comforting words he said to Kurt, he himself was worried about the childs health.
"I failed again, Adam. I failed to protect him," Kurt berated himself as he clutched the collar of Adams shirt, his voice was slightly muffled because his mouth was still pressed on Adams chest. "I should have known that he is getting too tired, Dee. Why am I so careless?"
"No... no..." Adam denied Kurts self-deprecation, and gripped Kurts shoulders to part their bodies, so that he could look at the mans eyes intently. "Hey... What are you talking about? What happened to Andre is not your fault."
"But... but he wouldnt be in here lying unconscious if I had been more focused on him," Kurt protested. He thought he was finished crying, but tears still came falling from his eyes.
"If you are blaming yourself for what happened to Andre, then it is my fault as well," Adam shook his head when Kurt tried opening his mouth. "We three have been together all day, and I also didnt realize that Andre is tiring himself out. You werent even there when Andre passed out; I was the one who should have been looking after him, not you," Adam said, his voice filled with guilt.
"No... no... its not your fault," Kurt scrambled to correct the British man and gripped his face.
"Neither is yours." Adam quipped and put his hands on top of Kurts. "So please stop berating yourself for something you didnt do. Dont be too hard on yourself; you should be glad instead because Andre is perfectly fine," Adam lightly scolded Kurt. "Okay?"
Kurt gave Adam a watery smile and nodded his head. "Yeah... I should be happy. Andre is here." Kurt made a quick glance at his sleeping son, and returned his gaze again to the blond man. "And youre here. Thank you for always keeping me sane."
Adam gave Kurt a shrug of his shoulders. "Eh... What else should I do? I love you two too much to see you go all crazy on me," Adam jested to lighten their solemn mood.
Kurt giggled and wounded his arms around Adams neck and hugged him tightly. "I love you so much."
"I know," Adam replied and reciprocated Kurts hug.
Their intimate moment was disrupted by Kurts growling stomach, and they both giggled at the noise. "Do you want something to eat? I can get you something on the hospitals cafeteria," Adam offered.
"Thank you," Kurt said shyly. "I didnt really eat much of our dinner earlier. Just get me bread or something." He let go of Adam, so that the taller man could stand.
"And coffee?" Adam asked teasingly while straightening his clothes.
"And coffee," Kurt added and moved to sit on a chair closer to the bed where his son was sleeping. "I love you little man," he whispered to Andre and gripped the little boys hand after Adam left the room.
He leaned over to sweep the hair strand that was obstructing Andres closed eyes and quickly pecked his sons forehead.
"Hes blond," Blaine said in a monotone from the doorway of the hospital room, making Kurt jumped from his position. Blaine strode inside the room without even looking at the pale man; he just proceeded to the other side of the bed-across from Kurt-and sat on the vacant chair. "He is blond," he stated again and with the back of his trembling hand, he touched his sons cheeks.
One of the reasons he immediately thought that Andre was Adams child-other than to the fact that he thought Kurt had a miscarriage five years ago-was that the kids hair color is the same as Adams.
Kurt was startled about his ex-husbands entrance. He dreaded this conversation with Blaine because he didnt know what would happen to him and Andre after the truth was revealed to Blaine. Kurt couldnt differentiate between the Blaine he loved five years ago to the Blaine he knew now. They were different, but somehow the same. For the past few weeks he had been working with Blaine, he gained the knowledge that his ex-husband is attached to the children of his employees, and had been so good to them that he became a father figure to the children. Hell, he even saw it with his own eyes when he first visited Andre in the day care, and after that during their coffee break. He even complimented Blaine on how he was so good with handling the children during their dinner earlier.
Actually, he experienced it five years ago when he was still pregnant with Pickles; the following days after his 28th birthday were the best days of his married life with Blaine. At that moment, he thought that he couldnt wish anything more; he had an adorable child and a lovely husband. But that was just Blaine was, a lovely husband, but never a loving one. He was so engrossed with the idea of loving Blaine that he didnt realize that maybe Blaine didnt love him back. He just woke up from his fantasy when Sebastian returned to Blaines life, and before he could fight his love for the curly-haired man, Blaine had shattered his heart once again by giving him the abortion papers. It took him, along with Pickles, a near-death experience to finally stop loving Blaine.
So Kurt was confused about what his and Andres future would be now that Blaine knows the truth of his relationship with Andre. Will he be glad that Pickles is alive? Sad that the baby is still alive? Mad that he knew nothing of the truth? Kurt was a bit scared that he didnt know the consequences of keeping Andres birth a secret. One thing he knew was that no matter what happens, he will keep his baby and no one can take Andre away from him again.
"Yeah." Kurt finally answered Blaine, and sat down again. He stretched his left arm to reach Andres hair and then he gently pulled it. He knew why Blaine was perplexed about the hair color because no one in the Anderson family is blond, and Andres color is creepily similar to Adams. "My mom... Elizabeth... she had a beautiful blonde hair," Kurt clarified the misconception to Blaine.
Blaine clearly remembered the first time he saw Elizabeths picture in Kurts room in their apartment before. Elizabeth was very beautiful; her hair was bright blonde and her skin was flawlessly white just like Kurt. He cant believe that he forgot that Elizabeth is blonde, but could he even have guessed that Andre was his child if he remembered Elizabeths appearance? Probably not.
"He has my curls," Blaine noticed now. The first time he saw Andre, the child was wearing a beret, and their meetings following that, Andre had always worn something that could cover his hair. So it was only now that Blaine had seen Andres physical resemblance to him.
"He also has your eyes," Kurt added thoughtlessly. The first time he saw Andre, it was his babys eyes that he noticed above everything else because they were very similar to Blaines. "There are times that he has these grayish blue eyes like mine, but most of the time it was hazel brown," Kurt confessed, and sat up from his seat so that he could look at Blaine, but his ex-husband didnt look back at him.
Kurt was thankful that he and Blaine are dealing their situation like adults. There were no shouts or violence; just a peaceful confrontation about their distorted family.
"How?" Blaine asked, but he still refused to meet Kurts eyes. "How did it happen? I-I thought you had a miscarriage."
"I thought so too," Kurt answered and started his story about the truth of his accident five years ago.
"Quinn!" Kurt half-shouted half-cried to his friend. "You saved my baby, didnt you? You saved Pickles..." he begged his friend.
When Quinn didnt answer immediately, he turned to others and pleaded. "Wheres my baby? Please... can someone tell me what happened to my baby, please... Im begging you..." Kurt cried even more; he was not stupid, he knew something had happened to his baby, but... but he still couldnt help but hope that his baby was fine. "Please, Im begging you... let my baby be alive..."
"...Kurt..." Quinn addressed her friend and slowly walked towards him. She sat on the bed and held Kurts trembling hands. "Im so sorry... we didnt have a choice... we had to save you..."
"You had a choice!" Kurt shouted, anger radiating from him. It was very rare for his family to see Kurt furious. "You had a choice Quinn! You could have saved my baby! You should have saved my baby! Why? Why did you save my life?... I want my baby... I want Pickles back." Anger turned to cries when Quinn just confirmed that they saved him instead of Pickles. And then he bawled on his friends shoulder. "You should have saved my baby, not me... not me..." He repeated over and over again.
Quinn hugged her friend and continued her explanation. It wont hurt any less if I explain later. She thought to herself and clarified to Kurt and to his family what happened in the surgery while still comforting her friend.
"Im so sorry, Kurt. We tried... we really did..." Quinn started, but her friend shouted at her.
"No you didnt! If you tried everything, Pickles would still be here!" Kurts face turned red as anger radiated from him. He knew that his anger had gone berserk, and he shouldnt blame the loss of Pickles on his innocent friend, but he couldnt think properly now.
"Kurt... please listen to me first," Quinn tried calming her friend. "The medical team instantly found your heartbeat, but we couldnt find the babys pulse." She paused for a moment to give Kurt time to process the first part of her news. "We had a chance to look for it again, but we started losing you, and if we didnt start your operation immediately, you would have died due to loss of blood."
"We didnt have any choice, Kurt," she said hurriedly when she felt Kurt tremble in her arms. "We had to save you. Pickles wouldnt make it even if we tried saving him and not you. Your death would just be in vain. We could save you or no one at all."
"Him," Kurt repeated. "I had a son. Daddy, I-I had a son," he told his father who was hugging his wife tightly for comfort. "Pickles is a boy." It was the first time he knew of Pickles sex, and it killed him to know that he wouldnt see his son anymore.
Now this was the hard part for Quinn when she had to retell the news to her patients because she didnt know how Kurt would take the news about his son. "We took the baby out, and-"
"Stop!" Kurt shouted. "Please stop. I cant hear it anymore... please just stop," Kurt begged Quinn to stop retelling his misfortune, and then pressed his hands to his ears just like a child would have done if he didnt like what he was hearing.
"You have to hear this, Kurt," Quinn ordered and took hold of Kurts wrist so he would be able to listen to her completely. "We took the baby out, and just as we thought, the babys heart stopped. We tried reviving his heart by CPR and the defibrillator. We had to be very careful because he was only five months and his other body parts hadnt fully developed yet."
"And? And? Please Quinn tell me everything," Kurt pleaded. A bit of hope had landed in his heart when Quinn started her story. He really hoped that what Quinn was trying to say was the same as what he wanted to hear.
"We started losing hope... but with our last attempt of reviving your son before we declared him dead..." Quinn winced at her own phrasing, but still continued her explanation. "...his heart had slowly started beating."
"Oh my god! Pickles is alive!" Kurt shouted with joy. "My son is alive!" he shouted to his family, but they all just gave him a pitying smile when Kurt tried catching their gaze. Something isnt right. He thought woefully. Its like hope had just made a quick pit stop with him.
Kurt looked back at Quinn to continue her explanation, and his friend gave him a smile that borderlined encouragement and apologetic. Kurt gulped at what Quinn would be telling him next.
"Listen to me very carefully Kurt," Quinn instructed him slowly. She could see in Kurt the signs of having a panic attack. "Breathe first... in and out... in and out..." When Kurt had slightly relaxed his posture, Quinn continued her story. "Youre a male carrier, so your body isnt really made for carrying a child. It means that Pickles had a slower pace in developing his bodyfunctions."
"Everything is my fault!" Kurt accused himself, but Quinn quickly corrected her friend.
"No! Its not, your situation is the same as all other male carriers, so its not your fault. Anyway, Pickles wouldnt be able to live long if he was missing other vital organs. So we have to put him on an synthetic womb to continue growing."
"I... I dont get it.... Is my baby alive or not?" Kurt asked confused.
Quinn wasnt annoyed at Kurts lack of understanding about medical technology because she knew how complicated it is, not just to non-medical personnel, but even also for herself. There had been a breakthrough in the medical industry years ago when one engineer had invented a machine that is helpful for underdeveloped babies. "A synthetic womb is like a modified incubator; its function is focused for premature babies like Pickles. We rarely use it because we can still use the older version of an incubator, but there are other babies like Pickles who cannot be saved by being placed in an ordinary incubator."
"So is he alive then?" Kurt probed. He was now more confused at Quinns explanations. One moment she is giving him hope, but then she would quickly shatter it by continuing her explanation.
"...Barely," Quinn whispered. "Pickles is not just an underdeveloped baby, healso had an accident, giving him less chance of survival."
"What are the chances?" Kurt asked bravely. He needed to know about the probability of Pickles being able to live.
"Thirty - seventy percent," she said, then quickly elaborated her answer as to not give her friend false hope. "Thirty percent chance of Pickles being able to survive this."
There is a 30% chance that Kurts baby would be saved, but a 70% chance for Pickles to die. Thats not hope; thats just prolonging his despair of losing his son.
"I just... I just cant." Kurt wailed and started thrashing on his bed; flaying his arms everywhere, but Quinn immediately stopped him by suppressing Kurts trembling arms in a tight embrace.
"Im so sorry, Kurt," Quinn apologized again. She knew it wasnt her fault, but it was the only comfort she could give to her friend. As a practiced doctor, she knew that 30% will never be enough.
After a while, when Kurts crying subsided slightly, Kurt requested all the people to leave the room, he needed space for himself, he needed time to grieve for his baby.
"Please, dad... Just for a while..." Kurt pleaded, hiccuping.
"He is a fighter, you know?" Kurt stated and smiled at his son as he remembered Andres battle to live. "I shouldnt have doubted that he would live, but he fought for almost six months against the odds of life and death. He is so stubborn just like you. Hell do everything to get what he wants." Kurt couldnt help but point out Andre and Blaines similar personalities.
"What do you mean by six months?" Blaine asked him to clarify. He didnt know anything about that medical shit; the synthetic womb sounded familiar to his ears, but not once had he given it importance, not knowing that it would have saved his son.
"He was inside the womb for six months," Kurt answered him. "Unlike an incubator, the synthetic womb is an exact replica of a womb; it is made of a special type of rubber that stretched as the baby inside grew larger. It is also not transparent, so I can only see the baby through an ultra sound." He paused to give himself a moment to breathe; he really didnt like remembering those awful months when his sweet, delicate baby boy was struggling for life. "Because of the accident, Andre took a longer time in developing his body functions, so it took him six months instead of four to complete his vital organs. But even then after he is released from the synthetic womb, he still accumulated some illness."
"Andre is anemic," was Blaines answer to Kurts non-question.
"Yeah... it was a side effect of being too long inside the womb, but I guess its better for him to be sick than to really lose him permanently." Before Blaine could disrupt him, he continued his explanation through a question. "You were probably wondering why Andre is four instead of five, werent you?"
Blaine nodded, but still made no move to look at Kurt.
"When the baby is placed inside a synthetic womb, he is considered unborn. I dont even know why, but Quinn had explained it to me before with elaborate scientific illustrations, I just forgot. So when they took Pickles out from my womb and transferred him to an synthetic one, they continued counting Pickles age just like other fetuses. So when we met last month at Paris, neither Andre nor I lied to you about his age. He really is four; he just failed to mention that he would be turning five in a couple of weeks." Kurt didnt know why he had to clarify to Blaine that he didnt lie to him about their sons age, but he was actually relieved at that time that Andre didnt reveal his birthday because Blaine would have guessed it immediately that Andre and Pickles are the same person.
"When is his birthday?" Blaine continued to probe Kurt, and things had started becoming clearer for him.
"July 14." Its only a few days away, and his son would be five years old. Blaine was dejected that he wasnt there on his sons first four birthdays, but he was also glad that he now had a chance to celebrate his sons birthday. But hell save that knowledge for later; he still needed to handle his unfinished business with Kurt.
"But you lied to Andre..." Blaine said out of the blue as another response for Kurts explanation before he asked their sons birthday.
"What?" Kurt asked incredulously.
"You lied to Andre about his relationship with Adam."
"No, I didnt." Kurt was quick to reply because he had never once lied to his son.
"Then why is he calling Adam Dadam when his real father is me?" Blaine asked angrily; trying really hard to keep his voice low so as to not disrupt his son from his rest.
"Andre knows that Adam is not his real father," Kurt told his ex-husband, and its true. Andre had always known that Adam wasnt his real father, and fortunately he doesnt need to lie to his son about his other fathers whereabouts because Andre never asked. "Andre called him Dadam because he had a hard time pronouncing it without the D at the beginning." Kurt knew what it was like for Blaine to hear Dadam because it sounds like Dad and Adam are combined into one word. Its just not really a big deal for Kurt that Andre called Adam that. He basically raised Andre with Adam.
"So you just let me think that Andre is Adams child with you?" Blaine asked furiously, and faced Kurt, but their eyes didnt meet because Kurt quickly bowed his head.
Kurt hesitated first before answering with a "yes."
"Then tell me Kurt when were you planning to reveal to me that Andre is my biological son? When he is eighteen? When he is married and has his own kids?" He asked with angry sarcasm.
"Do you want the honest answer or the answer you wanted to hear?" Kurt asked back; his question was not meant to be sarcastic, he genuinely wanted to know what kind of version Blaine wanted to hear.
"The truth."
Kurt waited for Blaine to look at his eyes before answering. "Never." If Blaine wanted the truth, then Kurt would give it to him. "I never had the intention of telling you the truth. If Andre didnt need your blood, I wouldnt have revealed to you his real identity." Kurt took a deep breath before continuing. "Why did you think that there are no records of Andre in the hospital?"
"I need to see him." Kurt announced after he had woken up from his sleep, and quickly stepped out of his hospital room to look for his baby. "I need to see my baby," Kurt stated anxiously as he frantically walked in the hallways of the hospital. "Where is Pickles?"
After his slumber, he decided that he would take those 30% chance of Pickles survival. He knew he couldnt do anything because this was Pickles battle, and it was up to his son to fight it. But he could still cheer his son from the sidelines and continually wish for his well-being.
"Kurt! Kurt! Stop!" His dad had halted him by grabbing his elbow. "Stop buddy please... youre opening your stitches," Burt said gently to his emotionally unstable son and ushered him back to the room.
"I just want to see Pickles!" Kurt protested, and dejectedly slumped back to his bed. He couldnt even get out of his room because his brother and sister-in-law were blocking the door.
"Youll see him honey, but now isnt the right time," Carole said to Kurt and sat beside her step-son. "Now Kurt... I need you to calm down first before I tell you something important, okay?"
"Please tell me nothing happened to Pickles," Kurt begged, he couldnt take it anymore if there were more horrible things that had happened to his son. "Please mom..."
"Oh no sweetie... Pickles is fine, but I think you deserve to know that Blaine has been here," Carole told him carefully, but she still got a panic reaction from her step-son.
"We have to get out of here!" he announced and quickly stood up from his position on the bed. "We need to get Pickles and leave now. I dont want Blaine near my baby."
But Carole was faster than Kurt, so even before Kurt could take one step away from her, she had reached his hand and pulled him back on the bed. She knew how scared her step-son was, so it was understandable that he had reacted that way. "Calm down sweetie. I just said that he was here, but your brother has already taught him a lesson, and fortunately he wont come back in the mean time."
"But... but..."
"I know you are worried about Blaine finding out about Pickles, but everything will be fine from now on. I promise you," Carole assured him.
"How can you be so sure? What if he comes here again and takes my baby away from me? I just... I just cant lose my baby again, mommy," Kurt cried again, and he let himself be embrace by his step mom so he didnt see Quinn enter his room.
Quinn faked a loud coughing sound to purposely get everyones attention, and when all eyes were on her, she strode towards Kurt and gave him a white folder.
"Open it," she encouraged.
Kurt was hesitant at first because of his previous experience with enclosed documents. It was always bad news if someone gave him papers to sign, but he didnt think that Quinn would be doing the same thing that Blaine and Sebastian did to him, so he opened the folder only to be met by confusing and scientific words.
"Quinn... I... I dont get it. Why are you giving this to me? What does it even say?" Kurt asked, confused.
Quinn then sat on the other side of Kurt and started translating the document into terms that Kurt could comprehend. "These documents fully state that yesterday, January 8, 2022, Kurt Elizabeth had an accident at the Lima Parks & Recreation. It also states there that because of your fall, you experienced tantamount of blood loss, and the child you were bearingdied inside your womb."
"I... uh... what?" Did they lie to me about the synthetic womb? Kurt couldnt bear to ask his family.
"Okay... before you go crazy on me, you have to remember that what I told you earlier about the aesthetic womb is the truth," Quinn said to her friend. "This document isproof that you had a miscarriage, so that Blaine wont have any reason to connect you to him. He was here earlier looking for you and Pickles, but we all agreed..." Quinn gestured to Kurts family. "...that we would lie about your accident, and told him that you had a miscarriage."
"Thank you Quinn, but you didnt have to forge a document. You could have gone to jail." Kurt protested, as sweet as what his family & friends did for him, he didnt want anyone to go to jail for protecting him.
"Did you know who the Andersons are? They could easily hire the greatest private investigator, and then with just a poof hed find you again," Quinn warned him. "And I wont go to jail when I have connections with the government; its time for Puck to be valuable and use his status as an FBI agent toprotect his wife, isnt it?" Quinn jested at the end. She knew this is a great gamble to her career, but after hearing Kurts suffering on Blaines hands, she wouldnt be able to sleep knowing that Blaine is still trying to look for Kurt and Pickles.
"I... I dont know what to say..." Kurt was lost to his own words.
"A thank you would be nice," Quinn jibed, and then she suddenly had Kurt clinging to her body.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." Kurt repeated over again. He was grateful that he wouldnt live in a constant fear of running away from his ex-husband.
"I was so scared at that time, Blaine... so scared that you would know that Pickles is still alive." Kurt confessed tiredly. "So when Quinn gave us a thumbs up to travel abroad, I took the opportunity immediately and went to Paris with Adam."
Blaine now knew why his previously hired investigators had failed to find Kurt because Kurt had blocked all the documents. This Puck guy would have been the one responsible for it. He just now realized why he couldnt find Pickles graveyard because there had been nothing to look in the first place. He just assumed that his child was cremated and was placed inside the Hudmels house.
"So when I heard that I had to meet you for the next issue of Porcelain Magazine, I almost had a panic attack. But Quinn encouraged me to face you... I only agreed to her idea when she said that she would castrate you. I knew she was joking, but it was her words that made me face you. And at that time, I thought there was no harm in meeting with you because you didnt know about Andre, but-"
"But I met him," Blaine interrupted Kurt.
"But you met him," Kurt repeated solemnly.
"Papa! Papa!" Andre burst to his Papas room not knowing that he wasin an important business meeting. He ran past to the stranger beside his papa and was glad when he was automatically lifted up.
"What are you doing here?" Kurt asked nervously after he received the kiss from Adam, and he made quick glances from Adam to Blaine.
"Im sorry Little Freckles... didnt know you had a meeting today," Adam knew about Blaines visit, but Kurt didnt tell him about meeting Blaine exclusively. Still, he nodded his head when Kurt mouthed tell you later to him.
"Im hungry, Papa! I want to eat! Want to eat pasta!" Andre demanded and then wiggled to be put down on the floor. "Je veux manger des pates!" Andre said firmly, and put his knuckles to his hips, so that his papa knew that he was serious about eating pasta today.
"Okay... okay... Well eat; just give Papa a minute okay?" Kurt relented to his sons cravings, and then turned back to his ex-husband who still stood frozen from his position. "Mr. Anderson, please join us for dinner," Kurt said out of courteousness; he regretted asking when Blaine said yes to his invitation; he blamed it on his trainings before for thoughtlessly asking Blaine to dinner.
"I just need to talk to my secretary for a moment, and Ill be joining you later," Blaine excused himself and went to the room where he had left Sam.
Back inside the office, Kurt was having his mini panic attack. "Oh god! Oh god! He knew everything! Hell take away Andre from me," Kurt said frantically. Fortunately, his son wasso absorbed by his new toy in the corner of the room that he didnt notice his papas moment of insanity.
" Hey... Little Freckles... calm down," Adam started soothing his back. "He doesnt have a clue that Pickles is alive."
"Then how would I explain to him about Andre if he asked later?" Kurt retorted.
"Well... uhmm... well pretend that he is mine. Hes blond, so hell pass as my son," Adam proposed and hugged Kurt tightly.
"Youll do that?" Stupid question, of course Adam would have done that simple thing for him and Andre.
"Yeah... but well just have to remind Andre not to take his hat off because those bouncy fluffy little blond curls will gave his real identity away," Adam added to lighten Kurts mood.
"I really thought you would have caught our act when Andre started calling you Mr. Bowties. I really thought you would have made a connection then that he is related to you because of your similar obsession with bowties. He even had the same habits as you when eating his snacks. Both of you will always dip your cookies in your milk or coffee before eating them," Kurt added after. "... but then you even missed the biggest hint when Andre told you that you had the same allergic reaction to cherries."
Blaine kind of felt stupid that he missed the slips that Andre had said, but he still thought that he wouldnt have guessed that he was related to Andre because there were too may constraints obstructing him from concluding that he was Andres biological father. He was in the midst of moving on, but could not help but close one eye to those slip ups because that would just make him hope for no reason.
"I always tensed up when Andre slipped some hints that he was your son, but somehow I was thankful that you were too oblivious to notice, and Adam would just whisper something to me in French to help me calm down." Kurt had finished his entire explanation, and he was just now dreading Blaines reaction, but his ex-husband was only quietly staring at his son.
After a long period of silence, Blaine finally opened his mouth, and it nearly killed Kurt what Blaine had to say to him.
"I could easily sue them, you know?" Blaine said nonchalantly, like it is something normal for him. "I have the money and power to put everyone in prison for keeping my son away from me."
"Blaine, no!" Kurt scrambled on the other side of the bed and begged Blaine. "Please dont involve my family in our situation. They were just trying to protect me."
Kurt was almost kneeling in front of Blaine, but his ex-husband made no move to look at him. "Please Blaine. Ill do everything you asked of me, but please dont put my family and friends into prison." Kurt promised and tears had now started falling from his eyes. "Ill do anything you want, please."
Blaine now returned Kurts gaze and ordered in a hush tone. "Stay."
"I... uh... wha-" Kurt was confused about Blaines order, but before he could ask Blaine what he truly meant, they were interrupted by a knock on the door, and then a nurse stepped inside Andrés room.
"I just need to replace Andres dextrose." The nurse stopped talking when he noticed that he was disrupting a moment between the two men inside the room. "Oh... Im sorry. Ill... Ill just come back later, Mr. Hummel." The nurse quickly apologized, and tried to make a quick exit, but the curly-haired man suddenly addressed him.
Blaine turned his stare away from the deep ocean blue and talked to the nurse. "Hummel-Anderson."
"What!?" Both the nurse and Kurt asked Blaine at the same time.
He then returned his gaze to Kurt and carefully clarified himself. "You should address him as Kurt Hummel-Anderson." Then Blaine said something without looking anywhere but Kurts eyes. "I never submitted the divorce papers. Were still married."
I hope this chapter is worth the wait.
Reminder before reviewing this chapter:
-this took place in 2027 (2022; five years before), so medical technology had been greatly modified
-This is an Mpreg story which is not real in the first place
-Lastly, This is a freaking FANFICTION, anything can happen here
So do not make hate comments/reviews if you deem this chapter so unrealistic.
If there are other things you wanted me to clarify, just put it on your review and Ill write it on the next chapter.
Its hard writing this fic because their mood is swinging constantly. From anger to quiet to passive aggressive to happy to sad... Arghh! The fuck is wrong with my characters!?
Title Reference: Hindsight - things remain unsaid between the five years of separation
Story Chapter Reference:
-Chapter 5:Throwback - I indicated that Blaine had an obsession with Bowties
-Chapter 6:Green Eyes - I purposely mention that Elizabeth is blonde, I dont know if anyone got the connection even before Andre is revealed as Pickles.
-Chapter 12:Bandages UP TO Chapter 15:Cherries - Andre is always wearing a hat every time he encounters Blaine. A beret, tiger onesie with a night cap, Trilby hat.. etc. Adam had always been leaning over to Kurt and whispering French nothingness to his ears. Notice that I only refer Blaine as Kurts ex-husband and not vice versa.
-Chapter 11:Wounds -I purposely used the word "clarify" when Quinn explained Andres situation, and omitted words from their conversation.
-Chapter 12:Bandages - I wrote it in a way that Andre would be the one to say his age to let you be more confused about their lineage. I also wrote that Burole refused to say Pickles burial place to Blaine. Quinn castrating Blaine.
-Chapter 14:Remnants - Blaine and Andres cookie stirring habits,
-Chapter 15:Cherries - Andres eye color & when Andre said "hes not" to Blaine before falling asleep on Blaines shoulders
Story Outline:
-Blaines breakdown
